WHAT IS LNG?LNG is a natural gas that has undergone a liquefaction process by cooling it down to -161°C. Stored in its liquid state in the tank, the gas is transformed into a gaseous state to fuel the engines. The CMA CGM Group uses fossil-based LNG and biomethane guarantee of origin. Biomethane is derived from renewable resources such as agricultural vegetable waste.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

We offer CLEANER ENERGY biofuel to all our customers, throughout all our services, implementing a Mass Balance Concept*. This Concept is a way of diversifying our energy mix while keeping track of quantities and allocating them to specific traffics. You will receive a declaration, stating the quantity of biofuel used and its associated CO2 savings.

WHAT IS BIOFUEL?The biofuel attributed is UCOME (Used Cooking Oil Methyl Esther), a second generation biofuel made from used cooking oils, that avoids impacting agricultural lands and forests.

RECEIVE OFFICIAL CERTIFICATESReceive a Carbon Credit Certificate for the CO2 amount compensated. You will also receive a Contribution Certificate detailing the positive impact of your contribution on local communities.

HAVE A POSITIVE IMPACT ON LOCAL COMMUNITIESContribute to NBS projects supported by NGOs and local associations aiming at having a positive impact on the life of local populations.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

When choosing POSITIVE OFFSET, you will receive Gold Standard or VCS carbon credits (Verified Carbon Unit Removal Certificate), issued by our partner PUR Projet. It certifies that the VERUs (Voluntary Emission Reduction Unit) have been cancelled on the Official Registries. You will also receive a Contribution Certificate. They will both be delivered at the end of each quarter, for all CO2 offset during the concerned quarter.

POSITIVE OFFSET can cover both for the shipping and inland GHG emissions.
