OUR MISSION The Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology at the University of Nevada School of Medicine is dedicated to providing the highest quality education and clinical services to our students and the community. To assure optimum care, our goal is to work closely with every patient to determine what hearing and communication difficulties they are experiencing and to find the best possible solution.

Hearing Loss Facts• More than 28 million children and adults in the U.S. suffer from hearing loss (ASHA, 2014)

• Normal hearing is critical for: ◆ Speech and language development ◆ Learning ◆ Daily communication

• Untreated hearing loss can lead to: ◆ Developmental delays ◆ Learning problems ◆ Communication difficulties ◆ Frustration ◆ Social withdrawal ◆ Depression

OUR SERVICESOur services enrich the level of training we provide our undergraduate and graduate students. To patients ranging in age from newborn to 110 years old, we offer:

• Diagnostic hearing evaluations • Tinnitus evaluations • Balance disorder evaluations • Auditory processing disorder evaluations • Cochlear implant candidacy evaluations • Cochlear implant mapping • Cochlear implant support groups • Wax removal/management • Hearing aid services • Custom hearing protection

OUR PROVIDERAs an Assistant Professor of Audiology, Dr. Megan Swank loves to share her passion and knowledge of hearing, balance, and related disorders with her students and patients alike.

Dr. Swank received her Bachelor of Science in Speech Pathology and Audiology from the University of Nevada, Reno and her Doctorate in Audiology from the University of Utah with a specialization in pediatrics. She is licensed with the State of Nevada as an Audiologist and Hearing Aid Specialist. She holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and is also a Fellow with the American Academy of Audiology.
