Alpirsbacher Klosterbräu Spezial is a strong Klosterbier (mo- nastery beer) with a full-bodied flavour and distinctive cha- racter. Its unmistakable identity comes from the particularly high original gravity of the wort. And it is the exquisite, malty flavour that reveals the original soul of our beers. History and other stories We find ourselves in the year 1880. Out of the brewing vat in the monastery brewery there rises a unique, spicy aroma: Carl Albert Glauner - who at the tender age of just 18 already holds the reins of the brewery in his hands - stands before the re- ward of all his hard work. He has just succeeded in producing a truly special brew which he has christened under the name of “Klosterbräu Spezial” – after the long tradition of monastery beers which goes back to the beer-brewing monks of the Be- nedectine monastery. The monks continually developed the craft of beer brewing to a fine art and were able to brew good, strong beer because they had access to an abundance of first- class ingredients. They also cultivated their own yeast strain and this ensures still today the uniqueness of this monastery beer. Carl Albert Glauner’s indispensible helpers were a good portion of ingenuity, hard work and perseverance, characteri- stics for which people from the Black Forest are well known far and wide. And his “Spezial” brew was destined to very soon relegate the other six local breweries to the back seats. “Excel- lent – unbeatable – quite superb”, these words uttered by the young Carl Albert became a firmly anchored motto. The recipe he created still holds today what its unique character and gol- den colour promise: a taste experience of a very special kind. The Sommelier’s attest Bright, pale gold in colour with a firm, fine-pored head of foam. It has a strong malty scent interspersed with a floral-fruity es- sence of hops and cellar-fresh, spicy nuances. Alpirsbacher Klosterbräu

SpezialITS UNMISTAKABLE IDENTITY COMES FROM THE

PARTICULARLY HIGH ORIGINAL GRAVITY OF THE WORT.

Alpirsbacher Klosterbräu Spezial is a strong Klosterbier (mo-nastery beer) with a full-bodied flavour and distinctive cha-racter. Its unmistakable identity comes from the particularly high original gravity of the wort. And it is the exquisite, malty flavour that reveals the original soul of our beers.
