Spider-Man is a comic book character created in the 1960s by (writer-editor) Stan Lee and(writer-artist) Steve Ditko for Marvel Comics. Spider-Mans first appearance was in Amaz-

ing Fantasy #15. The web-crawlers real identity is that of Peter Parker, originally a young,

orphaned teenager who was raised by his Uncle Ben and Aunt May and received superhuman

powers after being bitten by a radioactive spider. Peter struggles to learn that with great power

comes great responsibility..

Spider-Man / Peter Parker was one of the first standalone teenage heroes within comics.

While there have been many iterations of Spider-Man and Peter, he was originally a shy, high

school attending science geek. As the character developed, he eventually became a quick-witted,

freelance-photographing, selfless hero. His color palette includes blue, red, and black with occa-

sional white highlights. The vibrancy of the colors depends on the decade they were drawn in.
