Introduction, Misión and Goals
BUAP is the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (Meritorious Autonomus University of Puebla), it is in the top ten universities of Mexico and is the only one in the country that has origins in 1587. The BUAP's Faculty of Physical Sciences was created in 1950, and until 2016 it did not have enough divulgation of science in optics and photonics groups, today the BUAP's Faculty of Physical Sciences is the number one in Mexico. The idea of creating a Student Chapter comes from this lack of enough divulgation groups into
the university, as a faculty of sciences it is our duty to take scientific knowledge to everyone who
is possible, not only inside the university but also all who live in Puebla.
Our goal is to carry out scientific divulgation in optics and photonics into the state, since other
institutional chapters in Puebla are not enough for this job.
Due to Mexico do not have enough scientific production, we have a particular interest in children
and youth because they are the future of science in our country.
In 2017 we grew up for the number of member s because in 2016 we had good support by the community in the University. Some of the new members coming from different departments of the University as chemistry, engineering, mathematics.

Outlook.
The spie student chapter Buap will continue having active members in order to take outreach events to
students in our state, we have made connections with a lot of researchers, and we will continue with
our row of conferences on the occasion of the international day of light every year, we are also going to
participate in the night of the stars 2018 taking place in November, the day of heart 2018.
