1 Favorites Zombie Day, Paradise Day, and Black and White with a Twist of Orange Day. Spirit Week gave students a variety of ways to dress up and show school spirit. Students had many differing opinions. Some liked being able to wear crazy outfits to school. “I like dressing up because you get to wear clothes that you wouldn’t normally wear, and you can dress really crazy,” said seventh grader Daisy Tellez. Others liked showing their school spirit. “I enjoy dressing up and being creative to show my school spirit,” said sophomore Lydia Kahle. Some found that dressing up also had its down sides. “Dressing up slows you down, for instance, my zombie costume couldn’t fit through the door so I had to take it off before entering classes,” said junior Alyssa Cochnar. It also could be time consuming. “It takes forever to get dressed and undressed,” said junior Jordan Jensen.” Black and White with a Twist of Or- ange Day was the favorite day. “I liked Black and White with a Twist of Orange Day the best because I like getting decked out in our school colors,” said freshman Kacey Zoubek. Others liked Paradise Day. “Paradise Day was my favorite because we made a cool Jamaican bobsled that should have won,” said senior Michael Lee. On Wednesday, Jacy Hewitt won first place. On Paradise Day, Alyssa Cochnar won first place, and on Friday Anthony Bonilla won. “I made my longhorn head by myself in art so I was very excited when I won,” said eighth grader Bonilla. Overall, the seniors won, the juniors were second, the eighth grade was third, the 7th grade was fourth, the sophomores were fifth, and the freshmen were sixth. “I was really happy that we won consider- ing it was our last Spirit Week ever,” said senior Jordan Sherman. Dressing Up to Show School Spirit Spirit Week 1 All decked out in beach attire, juniors, Chelsea Knorr, Alyssa Cochnar, and Eric Bird are ready to catch some waves on Paradise Day. Alyssa got first place and Eric fifth place. class Pretending that they are the Jamaican bobsled team, seniors Aaron Kalk- warf, Michael Lee, Brandon Stilwagon, and Brandon Schwisow give a thumbs up from their bobsled on Paradise Day. The team received fourth place. “I liked Zombie Day the best because it was fun walking like a zombie.” - Taylor Vavra “Orange and Black Day was the best because almost everyone dressed up.” - Valerie Ortiz “Paradise Day was the best because it reminded me of the beach.” - Jordan Keller 3 3 3 3 2 3 Representing the 8th grade class dur- ing Zombie Day, Chris Nelson, Agustine Perez, and Marivelle Magana look like the living dead. Chris ended up placing fifth. Spirit Week 103 Spirit Week 102 Making sure sopho- more Derek Pohl is blindfolded, fellow sophomore Riley Zahourek spins him around ten times before sending him off into the first part of the obstacle course to try to find the ticket to para- dise. 2 Smiling nervously, junior Kaela Brown and senior Amanda Ladely anxiously wait while the final points are tallied and the winner is announced at the pep rally on Friday. The seniors ended up win- ning with the juniors in second. Waiting in anticipation, Brandon Stilwagon, Meredith Behrens, and Jacy Hewitt get excited about hearing which class will be announced the winner.
