2012-13 Factbook 107 Sponsored Programs Sponsored Programs EXPENDITURES SUMMARY During the 2011-2012 fiscal year, the expenditures for Sponsored Programs activities were $96.8 million, an increase of 5.7% from the prior fiscal year.     EXPENDITURES SUMMARY

    During the 2011-2012 fiscal year, the expenditures for Sponsored Programs activities were $96.8 million, an increase of 5.7% from the prior fiscal year. Within the total expenditures, those from all Federal sources were 5.3% over the previous year; expenditures from all other sources accounted for 15% pf expenditures and increased by 8.1%. The academic units with growth in expenditure activity were the College of Education and Human Development, the College of Health and Human Services, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, the School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution, and the Volgenau School of Engineering.

    NEW AWARDS AND OBLIGATIONS

    In FY 2012, the value of new awards decreased by $33 million (-25.5%) although the number of awards increased by 26, from 843 to 869. Awards in dollars from Federal sources decreased by 30.7% while, dollar awards from other sources increased by 9.7%. The academic units with the largest increases in award dollars were the College of Science, the Krasnow Institute for Advanced Study, and the Volgenau School of Engineering.

    PROPOSALS SUBMITTED

    The value of proposals submitted by university units was basically unchanged from FY 2011 and FY 2012. However, there was an increase in the number of proposals submitted, from 1,012 in FY 2011 to 1,037 in FY 2012, an increase of 2.5%. The value of proposals submitted to federal agencies decreased by $18.5 million (-4.4%), and the value of proposals submitted to other sources increased $18.4 million (68.0%).
