Spring Bluegrass Festival
SATURDAY, MAY 20 (2-8PM) The Friends of Schumacher Farm are happy to present our second annual Spring Bluegrass Festival. This one-day music festival will draw visitors young and old from all over Southern Wisconsin. Visit our website & Facebook page to see the band line up. Guests will enjoy music on two stages: an indoor acoustic setting and an amplified outdoor stage. Local food and beer vendors will be on site. Free parking and wagon rides are available for convenience and enjoyment. Working in conjunction with the Waunakee Chamber of Commerce, this event is on the same date as the Chamber’s Depot Days, from 10am-3pm. This will allow visitors and guests to enjoy two local events in one day!
25th Annual Heritage Fest
SUNDAY, SEPT 10 (12–5PM)
2017 marks our 25th annual Heritage Fest! To celebrate this milestone anniversary, this year’s Heritage Fest will be extra special with recognition of our past/present volunteers, Board members, sponsors and capital campaign donors. Keeping true to our heritage and mission of preservation and education, demonstrations of steam-powered antique threshing machines and 1920-30s harvesting techniques will be held. Throughout the farm, guests are invited to participate in cooking in the farm’s kitchen using herbs and foods from the Heritage Garden. They can also try their hand at woodworking, weaving, knitting, spinning, cider making, and many other crafts. House tours, horse-drawn wagon rides, and yard games will be going on all day so bring the whole family! Musical entertainment in the 100-year-old Schumacher Barn will be enjoyed by guests as they reminisce of days gone by.
Halloween at the Farm
SATURDAY, OCT 28 (4-9PM)
Halloween at the Farm was a great success last year thanks to our sponsors and volunteers! This year we plan to increase the excitement level with new spooky stations in our prairie. We are hoping to find sponsors that will take on the challenge of creating their very own spook station(s) - handling everything from building their site, decorating, and placing volunteers in their spooky piece of the prairie. While we still need financial support and candy that is dandy, we don’t want to hog all of the fun. In support of Schumacher Farm Park, consider letting your creative juices flow this year and come up with your own haunted design. Stations are limited so sponsor your site soon! We are also splitting up the event time to ensure young children can have fun and older kids and adults can get their fair scare too. A kid friendly time slot will be from 4-6, followed by scarier ghouls who will come out from 6:30-9 PM.
