JOIN US FOR THE 27TH ANNUAL CELEBRATION OF LEARNINGOn November 1, Columbus Metropolitan Library Foundation will host the 27th annual Celebration of Learning. A highlight of the city’s cultural calendar, this celebrated event brings together supporters of the library’s commitment to delivering world-class, 21st century libraries across Franklin County. On behalf of the Columbus Metropolitan Library Foundation Board and the 2019 Host Committee, we invite you to become a sponsor of Celebration of Learning. This year’s event will feature New York Times bestselling author, Candice Millard, whose acclaimed works center around the obscured histories of celebrated political heroes such as Theodore Roosevelt, James Garfield and Winston Churchill. The recipient of several prominent literary awards, Millard has Ohio roots, having grown up in the town of Lexington, Ohio. We are excited to welcome her to Main Library this year. This annual event also features the presentation of the Julian Sinclair Smith Award to a member of the central Ohio community who exemplifies the spirit of lifelong learning and service to others. It is an opportunity to honor someone who has dedicated themselves to improving the cultural assests and success of our community. Recent honorees include Barbara and Al Siemer, Robert J. Weiler, Sr. and Donna and Larry James. The 2019 Celebration of Learning will be a memorable event with delicious food provided by Lindey’s and great conversation among like-minded friends striving to make central Ohio a thriving community where wisdom prevails. We hope you will join the list of generous corporate and philanthropic partners who help make this event possible. We look forward to seeing you on Friday, November 1, at Main Library!

CELEBRATE LEARNING WITH US

BUILDING 21ST CENTURY LIBRARIES

Teen Read Week reaches more than 1,000 middle and high school

students at Columbus Metropolitan Library locations throughout our

system during the nationally recognized week of October 7-13. This

year’s Teen Read Week will feature a panel of three award-winning

writers: e.E. Charlton-Trujillo, Mindy McGinnis and Justin A. Reynolds.

These Young Adult authors represent a diverse range in voices both in their

personal histories and in their works. Your generous support contributes

to helping teens across central Ohio broaden their imaginations.

Now more than ever, the library is focused on the swiftly evolving needs of the half a million

people who access its resources each year. In 2013, CML embarked on its 10-location aspirational

building program. Since then, the library has rebuilt or renovated the Driving Park, Hilliard, Martin

Luther King, Northern Lights, Northside, Parsons, Shepard and Whitehall branches, as well as made

transformational changes to the Main Library. With its opening on June 6, 2019, the new Dublin

Branch completes Phase I of the aspirational building program.

Across the board, CML’s new libraries have seen dramatic increases in customer use compared

to former buildings, and the impact of these locations has exceeded expectations. The success

of the new buildings has prompted us to look ahead to additional building and community needs

throughout our service areas. The branches identified for Phase II of the aspirational building

program are: Karl Road, Hilltop, Reynoldsburg and Gahanna.

Your sponsorship not only makes this special evening possible, it also underwrites Teen Read Week and the library’s greatest needs and highest priorities.

Gold Sponsors and above receive additional recognition on:

• Emails that feature Teen Read Week, reaching over 230,000 cardholders.

• Teen Read Week promotional materials, making over 400,000 impressions on visitors in

Columbus Metropolitan Library locations.

• Teen Read Week press release distributed to local media partners.
