SATURDAY 2ND MARCH

Chelsea v West Bromwich AlbionChelsea still fancy their chances at 2nd at least and with West Brom a pale shadow of what they were at the start of the season, Chelsea as hosts must surely be favourites. West Brom haven’t got a big enough squad to compete with the big boys and as the season gets longer, injuries and the like begin to appear. Peter Odemwingie’s astonishing whoring himself to join QPR on transfer deadline day also didn’t help matters and as he’s now been sent off on loan never to be seen again, I think West Brom will probably be happy with a top ten place at the end of the season. They’ll get no points for that purpose here though. 3-0 to Chelsea.

Everton v ReadingReading have picked themselves up a bit and at least have a fighting chance of survival from relegation. Everton are still strong despite their threadbare squad, but in seasons past Everton tended to start the season badly and get better. So if they repeat this sequence then Everton could even get a top 6 finish. For this game as it’s at Everton I only see one winner. Everton 1-0.

Manchester United v Norwich CityI can’t see Manchester United doing a ‘Devon Loch’ once more and throw it all away like they did last season. Unless they get key injuries and suffer a serious loss of form, United have got the premiership in the bag. That’ll be title number 20. An awesome achievement for Ferguson but it has to be said, the other top teams let him win this one. Chelsea have self combusted as usual and switched managers, and I have little pity for them. Arsenal have been pretty useless and Manchester City and especially their manager Roberto Mancini have been particularly woeful. All Ferguson can do is beat what they’re up against and that’s been pretty weak and tepid at times.Norwich come a calling and they’ll take a beating as well. Norwich aren’t out of the woods either yet, so they’ll at least fight. United will win though 2- 0.

Southampton v Queens Park RangersBoth sides are fighting for survival and with Southampton looking the likelier to survive. Harry Redknapp has already done

a brilliant job by putting much needed points on the board when they looked doomed. If anyone can save QPR Harry can and there’s also the added spice as Redknapp is an old manager at Southampton too. I think both Southampton might just edge this one though. 1-0.

Stoke City v West Ham UnitedTwo teams that are in the doldrums after bright starts meet at Stoke. Neither team has been particularly good lately and they both rely on a physical form of football. Expect a dour game with few goals. 0-0.

Sunderland v FulhamAnother two teams that are not bad but never going to set the world on fire. Fulham played pretty well against Manchester United recently and were hard done by to lose. Sunderland though are at home and will provide a stern test. I’ll go for a draw here. 1-1.

Swansea City v Newcastle UnitedA tale of 2 seasons. Last seasons surprise package against this seasons. Swansea are the better team but after a terrible spell Newcastle show signs of improvement after buying half of France in the January transfer window. Cheap too. Laudrup and Pardew have done fine jobs and have made both of their teams play good football. I think Swansea will edge this one 1-0.

Wigan Athletic v LiverpoolWigan show no sign of their great escape routine and this might be their final year in the premiership. Liverpool have been playing well one moment and then useless the next but I’m assuming they hope to gain 6th and a place in Europe. Wigan are a bit of a bogey team though so this game could be a close run affair. If Wigan arrange themselves defensively, fight like demons and catch Liverpool on the break then they can get at least a point. Liverpool to sneak it though 1-2.

SUNDAY 3RD MARCH

Tottenham Hotspur v ArsenalA mouth watering game and one which will decide Champions league places in the long run. Spurs have been more consistent this season and won’t go off the boil due to their manager being linked with the England job. Arsenal have been even more inconsistent and to be honest if you sell your best player to your deadliest rivals (Van Persie to Manchester United) then you deserve little sympathy. This is a derby so form goes out the window but I think Spurs are the better team and I’ll go for a 2-1 win to them.

MONDAY 4TH MARCH

Aston Villa v Manchester CityCity have blown their defence of the Premiership title but they should at least find some goals here at Villa. Easy to do when the pressures off from winning anything. Villa may be fighting for their lives and I guess have a chance at an upset but I can’t see them getting anything from this. 1-2 to City.

SATURDAY 9TH MARCH

Arsenal v EvertonAn excellent match in prospect with both sides challenging for a top four slot. Arsenal are at home and are a better footballing team and Everton will fight for everything. Arsenal have been better recently after learning to adapt to the loss of Van Persie. Everton haven’t got a huge squad so are vulnerable to injuries. As it’s at the Emirates, I think Arsenal will just about have enough to win through. 2-1.

Manchester City v Wigan AthleticManchester City want all the points possible and I think they’ll get them against Wigan at home. Wigan I think will be relegated this season and they might be on the receiving end of a good kicking here, as City will probably realise that they’ve lost the title to their local rivals. 3-0 to City.

Newcastle United v Stoke CityNewcastle are still in need of points after a pretty poor start to the season. The inspired introduction of the cheap French buys have given them a lift and they now find themselves eyeing a top 10 finish. Stoke are a difficult side to face at the best of times and will press and harry for all the game resulting in a draw. 1-1.

Michael Laudrup

Page 4: Sport March

Norwich City v SouthamptonSouthampton will fancy their chances here as Norwich started well but have fizzled out since December. Southampton have been playing better and may have benefited from the change of manager in January, mad though it seemed at the time. Rickie Lambert has been knocking in the goals and might even be called up for England. As Lambert is 31 he might be still useful for the world cup in 2014. It’s not as if England has got an embarrassment of riches in the striker department anyway. Southampton to win 0-1.

Queens Park Rangers v SunderlandQPR face a tough game here because Sunderland have improved and have been effective away from home. After a shaky start to the season, Martin O’Neill has turned things round and so they come to Loftus road with a certain amount of confidence. Both teams will probably cancel each other out and so I’ll go for a bore draw. 0-0.

Reading v Aston VillaA real relegation title fight here. A 6 pointer which will go a long way on deciding the fate of both clubs. Reading have been playing better and Villa...haven’t. Villa have better players but there seems to be unease at the club. Bent has been dropped and this may be the cause. Villa should have sold him in January and got rid of that area of discontent because if they get relegated, Bent will be sold for peanuts. Reading to win here 2-0.

West Bromwich Albion v Swansea CityAnother good match between 2 teams with 2 new and exciting managers. Both have proved difficult opposition for most teams and both are looking for a top ten slot if not more. Both teams play good football and so this could be a cracking match. West Brom will fancy it as it’s at home, but Swansea are quite capable of getting a result too. I fancy West Brom to sneak it though. 1-0 to West Brom.

West Ham United v Manchester UnitedWest Ham with Allardyce will huff and puff but eventually Rooney will score for United. I can’t remember the last time an Allardyce team beat Fergies lot and I see nothing different here. Andy Carroll will want to beat them though so keep an eye out for him. A tight game and I’ll go for a 0-1.

SUNDAY 10TH MARCH

Fulham v ChelseaFulham are a strange team because at times they play well but then just lose it. This can happen in minutes. Fulham are still chasing points as well as they’re not safe from relegation yet but I can’t see any points coming here. Fulham have also been pretty poor at home and with Chelsea being pretty decent away (apart from the Southampton débâcle) then I full expect to see a Chelsea win here today. 0-2 to Chelsea.

Liverpool v Tottenham HotspurThrough mismanagement and bad manager appointments, Liverpool have gone from ‘this could be our year’ to ‘I’d like to be in the top 10 please’. Spurs will fancy their chances and if Bale is on form as he has been for most of this season, Liverpool could be run ragged. Having said that, Liverpool will probably dominate possession, take the lead and then get nervous and give away a sloppy goal. I think the end result will be a draw. 2-2.

SATURDAY 16TH MARCH

Aston Villa v Queens Park Rangers6 points on offer and another game for Villa to put some distance between them and the other relegation candidates. This time QPR come visiting and I think Villa have got a good chance of some points. QPR have been good away from home though. Still see Villa just edging it though. 1-0 to Villa.

Chelsea v West Ham United

Chelsea have been good all season at Stamford Bridge and any visitor is going to have a hard time. With the wealth of talent that Chelsea have then they should go on to win this game. West Ham with Cole, Nolan and Carroll have enough to make it awkward though, and the longer the game goes on without a goal for Chelsea the higher chance of unease of the crowd, especially as they hate Rafa. Of course if they win each game these ‘supporters’ would be remarkably quiet. Chelsea to edge past the hammers. 1-0.

Everton v Manchester CityWhich City will turn up at Goodison? Will Yaya Toure recover some of last seasons brilliance? Will Mancini play his most effective side? Everton at home is always a tricky match for even the best sides. If City play as they can then they can win here as Everton are beginning to get knackered and showing signs of their small squad. City to sneak a win 1-2.

Manchester United v ReadingReading have plenty of heart and they’re fighting well to maintain their Premiership status. They’ve also got the best of goal difference in comparison to those around them so they’ll want to keep it tight and not get thrashed at Old Trafford. It might all come down to goals as it’s usually pretty tight down in the relegation zone. Bar some miracle, United will still win it though 2-0.

Southampton v LiverpoolLiverpool have been better away from home with the feeling of expectation less than at Anfield. This means they play with less fear and look like they can beat anybody. If Sturridge plays then I think he’ll score from some of the multiple chances Liverpool create. If he doesn’t play then Liverpool might be on the receiving end of further embarrassment. I see a Liverpool win here. Just. 0 -1 to Liverpool.

Stoke City v West Bromwich AlbionStoke are strong at home and want to cement a top 10 finish. A win here against one of their closest rivals in the table will do a lot to help that cause. Both teams haven’t been on fire recently (despite West Broms win over Liverpool) and so this has all the hallmarks of a stalemate. Walters and Crouch might get the odd goal as well as Lukaku for West Brom. 1-1 draw.

Swansea City v ArsenalA must win for either side and so that sets the game up nicely. Swansea want to show that they can go from strength to strength next season under Laudrup and Arsenal are desperate to maintain the 15 year qualification for the Champions League. Both teams play good football and both have good striking talent. Arsenal have the better team but Swansea are at home so that evens things up a bit. This could be a high scoring draw. 2-2.

Tottenham Hotspur v FulhamSpurs want Champions League football and were denied it this year by Chelsea’s Champions league win. This year they want to make sure they’re in the top four again and hope Arsenal don’t go on and win it this time! Spurs have been excellent this season at home and I don’t see Fulham getting anything from this. Spurs old boy might pop up with a goal though but Spurs will still go on to win. 1-3 to Spurs.

SUNDAY 17TH MARCH

Sunderland v Norwich CitySunderland welcome a struggling Norwich to the Stadium of light and because of their positions at this stage of the season, both teams are on pretty much even terms. Sunderland are the better side with better players but Norwich are well aware of the peril they are in from relegation. Sunderland’s Fletcher has been in good form and I think he’ll extend that scoring run here today. 2-0 to Sunderland.

Rafa Benitez

Daniel Sturridge

Page 6: Sport March

Wigan Athletic v Newcastle UnitedWigan have to fight for every point now if they are to survive, which they won’t. Newcastle haven’t been great away from home but with the addition of Sissoko they at least have a better chance of scoring. Wigan have been awful at home but they may get a point here. 1-1.

SATURDAY 30TH MARCH

Arsenal v ReadingOn paper this should be an easy win for Arsenal and I think it will be. Walcott has been sensational this season and revelling in his new central striker role that he always fancied. Fair play to the lad as he has proved himself. Wenger was reluctant at first, but Theo’s form has made his mind up. The Emirates is a nasty place to go to and with Reading being in slightly better form this will be a low scoring game. Arsenal will still nick it though. 1-0.

Everton v Stoke CityStoke will make it difficult for Everton who seek a top 6 finish and with that a Europa League place. Everton though at Goodison Park usually play out of their skins and they’ll come out with guns blazing. This may be Felliani’s last season with the Toffees as he’ll go off to richer pastures in the summer and so will want to give a good account of himself. I expect an Everton win 2-0.

Manchester City v Newcastle UnitedBoth teams haven’t reached the heights that they did last season and while City still have hope of catching Manchester United (however remote) Newcastle can only drop of challenging for a top 4 place like they did last year. As this game is at City I’ll go for a home win especially as I think the league isn’t over yet and Tevez, Aguero, Silva et al have still got a few surprises in the bag. 2-0 to Manchester City.

Sunderland v Manchester UnitedManchester United will go for the jugular here and this might be the game that wins the 20th title for United. Sunderland will huff and puff but there’s no long term rivalry between the two clubs and so the desperation to stop United winning will not be there. Manchester United to sit back and let Sunderland come at them and then break on the counter. 0-2 to Manchester United.

Swansea City v Tottenham HotspurSwansea will want to show that they can play just as good football as Spurs do. Spurs will want the points for the top 4 and to hold off Arsenal. This could be a cracking game as both teams will go for it and both teams play good football. Expect a lot of goals and Spurs to just show enough class through Bale at the end of the day. 2-4 to Spurs.

West Ham United v West Bromwich AlbionBoth teams started brightly at the start of the season, but have faded in equal measure. West Ham have been pretty solid at home and West Brom a little dodgy away. They may cancel each other out and this will result in a 1-1 draw.

Wigan Athletic v Norwich CityWigan will sigh with relief that they meet Norwich and at least have a chance of a win. It won’t be pretty and as both teams need the points at times it will be desperate. In the end the result will go with the home team 1-0 to Wigan.

SUNDAY 31ST MARCH

Aston Villa v LiverpoolVilla thrashed Liverpool at Anfield, but I’d be amazed if that happened again. Liverpool have been better away and I think they’ll want to prove a point despite having lost out on a Champions league place. Serious questions have to be asked about Rodgers lack of tactics and the inability to adapt his vision for the game. We can all have a vision to get our players to play like Barcelona but you have to have decent players to implement that. Suarez is one of those and though he’s been making all the right noises about staying, if a bid of 40 million plus comes in from Bayern, Barca or Real Madrid then the American owners will jump at the chance. With Carragher retiring and Gerrard one year older, I have severe doubts that if Rodgers remains Liverpool will challenge for anything, let alone fourth. Liverpool to win 0-1.

Southampton v ChelseaSouthampton have sprung quite a few surprises this season and with the arrival of Chelsea they could just do so again. Southampton have played well and been unlucky and I think have every chance of surviving in the Premiership this season. Chelsea are in good form and I would think that Rafa knows his best side by now and they’ll want to win to maintain their Champions league status next season. 0-1 to Chelsea.

MONDAY 1ST APRIL

Fulham v Queens Park RangersTricky game for QPR and one that might put a nail in the coffin of their Premiership survival. If QPR win though it could also suck Fulham into the mire and as Redknapp is a past master at relegation battles this could be crucial. QPR did OK in the January transfer market but I

think Redknapp wanted a few other old faces. QPR to be up for it and to win it. 1-2.

England Internationals

Friday 22nd MarchWorld Cup Qualifying - Group H

San Marino v EnglandI could talk about the team and new faces but let’s face it if we can’t beat San Marino which has a

population of 30,000 which is the equivalent of Skegness, then we might as well give up football and go home. Seriously, if this isn’t 5-0 plus the rest then forget any chance of us challenging for a dramatic

penalty shoot out dismissal of the quarter/semi finals in Rio in 2014. 5-0 (at least) to England.

Tuesday 26th MarchWorld Cup Qualifying - Group H

Montenegro v EnglandIn the old days you would have laughed to see

Montenegro TOP of our World Cup qualification table but the times are changing I guess. It’s a tricky tie for England and as Montenegro have

won 3 and drawn 1 then this game is a must win for England to get top spot in the group and

therefore automatic qualification for the World Cup. Walcott and Rooney should feature as well as Sturridge, Cleverly, Wilshire, Lampard, Gerrard and the rest. On paper we should win but it’s in

Montenegro and it doesn’t bear thinking about if we lose, find ourselves 5 points adrift because of some dodgy Montenegrin pitch. 0-1 to England.

Champions LeagueFixtures and Predictions

12th - 20th February

TUESDAY5TH MARCH

Borussia Dortmund v Shakhtar Donetsk

2 good teams with Borussia having the slight edge as they have 2 away goals. I expect them to go on and win this tie as well at home and I think with those 2 advantages, Borussia will edge through. Jurgen Klopp, Borussia’s manager has been linked to several high profile jobs in England, but he’s constantly said that he will honour his contract until 2016. To me he sounds a class act and has loyalty for a contract and in this day and age, that’s a rare thing, Wengeresque almost. 1-0 to Borussia Dortmund.

Man Utd v Real MadridAfter getting an away goal in the first leg, Manchester United will fancy their chances of proceeding to the next round. If their goalkeeper De Gea plays anywhere near as brilliantly as he did in the first leg then they’ll have every chance to do so. Real Madrid need to win here to save their season also, as they have no chance of the title with Barcelona so far ahead. So expect lots of hype in the papers from Ferguson and Mourinho which will take the pressure of their two teams and have it focused on

the managers. Mourinho fancies the Manchester United job and in many ways Ferguson sees Mourinho as heir apparent. But Fergie isn’t retiring any time soon so there will be points to be proven in this game. To close to call and I think it might end in penalties as I can see Real scoring their own away goal. 1-1 on the night. And then take your pick on penalties.

WEDNESDAY6TH MARCH

Juventus v CelticCeltic have had a fantastic run this season in the Champions League and have done themselves proud. It’s come to an end now though after conceding 3 in the first leg and bar a miracle of walk on water proportions, Celtic should just go out in Turin and give a good account of themselves. You never know they might even get a goal! 2-1 to Juventus.

Paris SG v ValenciaPSG have 2 away goals after the first leg and so bar a major turn around, they should add to their goal tally at home. Valencia have been good this season but they lack a little bit of class and PSG have that in spades.

Whether we see Beckham play for PSG this season is another matter. His wages going to charities has a darker side as PSG can then use that when they do their books in order to meet the economic Champions League fair play structure. Disappointing to hear that Beckham’s enormous gesture can be used in such a way and Beckham certainly didn’t know about it as it would have damaged his appeal. I expect PSG to win this game 2-1 and go through to the next round.

TUESDAY12TH MARCH

Barcelona v AC MilanThis should be a cracking game and I fully expect a Barca win. Barcelona have been in imperious form this season and have more or less sewn the title up by February. Balotelli has gone back to AC Milan and has already made an impact with goals and being called racist names by Milan’s Vice president. He always seems to attract controversy and I think Balotelli likes it. He can’t play in this match though as he’s cup tied by playing for Manchester City. Barcelona to win 2-0.

Jurgen Klopp

David Beckham

50

Page 9: Sport March

Schalke 04 v GalatasarayTwo of the smaller teams in the Champions League meet. Schalke aren’t playing well while Galatasary top the Turkish league and with the addition of Sneijder should win through against the Germans. 1-2 to the visitors.

WEDNESDAY13TH MARCH

Bayern Munich v ArsenalBayern announced that Pep Guardiola (ex Barcelona) will take over in the summer from a wanting to stay Jupp Heynckes. Heynckes

has done a superb job and only a high profile manager like Guardiola could fill his shoes. Arsenal have been very hit and miss this season, sometimes looking brilliant and sometimes woeful. One thing they do miss is Van Persie, but any team would. I expect Bayern to go through from the 2 legs though. With the likes of Ribery, Robben and Schweinsteiger I think Bayern have a lot more experience and class. 2-1 to Bayern.

Malaga v FC PortoMalaga under Pellegrini continue to impress as they’re still battling for a Champions league place and they will want to firmly establish their credentials in Europe also. Pellegrini has done this despite having to sell some of their key players and

if they do well then their owner the disinterested sheikh may even stump up some cash for the team next season and they could go from strength to strength. I expect Malaga to win here 1-0 and go through to the next round.

Golf

Matt Kuchar knocked off defending champion Hunter Mahan 2 and 1 in the

championship match of the World Golf Championships-Accenture

Match Play Championship to nab his first WGC title.

After halving the first three holes, Kuchar went on a run where he won four holes in a five-hole

span with two birdies and two pars. Mahan then

won the 10th with a par and the par-5 11th with a birdie and looked

like he was going to take the 12th with a tight approach to the par 3. It wasn’t meant to be, as Kuchar rolled in a mid-range birdie on

top of him to squelch the momentum. Kuchar

took the 13th, but surrendered the 14th

and 16th to significantly tighten the match. He

then kept his streak of not having a match go to the 18th hole all week alive,

making a birdie from a fairway bunker on the par-4 17th hole to close out Mahan. Not only was the win his first WGC title, but it was also his fifth PGA TOUR victory. While he would have eventually qualified for the PGA Championship, this clinches the berth. He’s now fully exempt on TOUR through 2017-18.

Tournaments

The Puerto Rico Open 2013 golf tournament will once again be held at the Trump International Golf Club in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico. Because of the tournaments’ relative infancy on the Pga Tour it struggles to attract the top players, and the fact it is played during the same week as the prestigious Wgc-Ca Championship means that it is always going to fall a distant second in terms of priority for the very best players on the tour. Yet it is likely to be an event that gradually gathers more interest on the tour, especially as there is a prize purse of $3.5 million on offer, with the winner receiving $630,000.

Innisbrook’s Copperhead Course is host to the PGA TOUR’s Tampa Bay Championship, an official 72-hole event. The event features 144 PGA TOUR golfers, with proceeds from ticket sales benefiting area charities through the Championship’s Birdies for Tampa Bay Charities program. Previous champions also include Innisbrook member John Huston, Vijay Singh and Carl Pettersson, Retief Goosen, Jim Furyk and Gary Woodland. Previously, Innisbrook was host to 10 JC Penney Classic tournaments that featured mixed teams of PGA TOUR and LPGA Tour professionals.

The Honda Classic has been a part of the PGA Tour since the early 1970s. Although it has always been based in Florida, it wasn’t until 2007 that it moved to the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens. Today, the tournament is played on the Champion Course, the site of the 1983 Ryder Cup, the 1987 PGA Championship, as well as the permanent home for the PGA Seniors’ Championship from 1982-2000. The course underwent a $4 million dollar renovation in December 2002. Created in partnership with Jack Nicklaus and the Nicklaus Design Team, the layout plays a tough 7,048 yards which generates a par of 72. The courses signature holes are 15, 16 and 17, fondly designated “The Bear Trap.”

Since 1999, The World Golf Championships have brought together the best golfers in the world in a series of championships sanctioned by the International Federation of PGA Tours. In 2007, the World Golf Championships debuted at the famous TPC Blue Monster course at Doral Golf Resort & Spa Miami. The famed TPC Blue Monster Course has played host to the PGA Tour for over 50 years. In fact, virtually every great name in golf has had a moment of personal triumph at this world-class venue. Originally designed by Dick Wilson, this course provides a challenging test for the world’s best players. At 7,266 yards, both length and finesse are needed to score well on this historic course. The now named TPC Blue Monster features the famous 18th hole, a demanding par-4 that is ranked consistently as one of the Top 100 Holes in the World.

Formerly the Bay Hill Invitational, the re-named Arnold Palmer Invitational Presented by MasterCard bears a special aura in professional golf. The tournament, one of the premiere-event jewels on the PGA Tour, annually attracts one of the strongest fields of the season to one of the circuit’s finest courses with the entire production overseen and directed by one of the game’s all-time greats - Arnold Palmer. Last years winner Tiger Woods will be doing his best to retain his title, along with the winners purse of $1,080,00.

The Maybank Malaysian Open 2013 returns to the West Course of Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club. It will feature World No. 2, Luke Donald and Louis Oosthuizen who won the title last year. Completing the line up are some of the top 50 World Ranking golfers including some Major Champions. One of the most prestigious golf events in the country and a leading National Open in the region, the Maybank Malaysian Open 2013 is co-sanctioned by Asian Tour and European Tour with a prize purse of USD 2.75 million.

The Hassan Golf II Trophy has been in existence since 1971 but has only been recognised as part of the European Golf Tour since 2010. It is a rare event as it is held in Morocco at the Golf Du Palais Royal at Agadir and takes place each year during the end of March/beginning of April. It is the final Race To Dubai event before the prestigious Us Masters in Augusta, Georgia. Despite only becoming a European Tour event in 2010, it has hosted many great names of golf in the past including Padraig Harrington, Colin Montgomerie and Ernie Els.

Too many golfers have poor posture. Some have their knees too bent, with a straight, almost upright back.

Or they have their legs too straight, trying to stand tall. Quite often their weight is predominantly on their heels.

The correct posture is to have your legs relaxed, thus creating a slight flex. Your back should be tilted slightly forward, with your weight on the balls of your feet.

3

Practise your posture

A good way to determine the correct posture is to take up the position of ‘goalkeeper’, ready to move in any direction.

Good posture and balance will allow you to make a free-flowing swing, thus improving your game.

Fight NewsA Canadian super fight between former world champions Jean Pascal and Lucian Bute is reportedly going to take place at the Bell Centre in Montreal on May 25th. InterBox (representing Bute) and GYM (representing Pascal) are hoping to finalise the deal in the coming days with HBO televising, but there appears to be a potential change in direction.

A package deal for Pascal-Bute reportedly involves a guarantee of $2 million dollars to each fighter and a rematch clause - but those terms have not been confirmed.

Frank Warren Dismissed of all ChargesThe US Court of Appeals dismissed the appeal by Straight-Out Promotions LLC and Chris Webb against the previous dismissal of their claims against Frank Warren and over the sale of the foreign TV rights to the fight between Mike Tyson and Danny Williams. The US District Court for the Southern District of New York had previously also dismissed a claim by Mike Tyson against Mr Warren and others over the sale of such rights. Warren said that he was ‘delighted’ to receive confirmation (i) that neither Mike Tyson nor Straight-Out Promotions LLC and Chris Webb had any claim against him and

(ii) that the US Courts had accepted that he had no liability to any of them. Warren added that he would like to thank his attorney in the appeal Howard Karasik, Esq.

DeGale Set To Face Argentine Pablo FariasPromoter Hennessey Sees a “Big Year” for DeGale. The 2008 Olympic gold medallist and reigning WBC Silver super-middleweight champ James DeGale has his next fight set against 25 year old Pablo Farias of Argentina, on March 23rd in Kent. Promoter Mick Hennessey has gone on record saying he hopes his fighter will land a massive fight against the likes of Carl Froch, Mikkel Kessler or Andre Ward in 2013.

Speaking with The Daily Mail, Hennessey said, “This is the year when James will be chasing the big names like Carl Froch and Mikkel Kessler. Froch knows what it’s like to be avoided because he could never get his dream

fight with Joe Calzaghe before he retired. We are hoping he won’t do to James what Joe did to him. It’s a big year for him.

Graham Brett JailedA former professional boxer has been jailed for seven years for killing a stranger with a single punch outside a pub. Graham Brett, 50, knocked Australian-born Neil Hannah, 49, unconscious with one punch to the jaw.

He toppled backwards and suffered a brain injury and died five days later on August 7. Brett, from Pimlico, central London, pleaded guilty to manslaughter at the Old Bailey.
