Sports and Cultural Facilities
Various sport facilities are made available for students and faculty at D Y Patil (deemed to be) University (DYPU) campus. All these facilities used by the students and the faculties for maintaining healthy body and sound mind.

11 Yoga center Ayurvedic College Building Yoga practice sessions are regularly conducted for staff and students.
Cricket Stadium:
World class Cricket Stadium is available in campus which ranks 6th biggest in World and largest in South West Asia with sitting capacity 55000. This facility of a world class stadium is very well utilized by the University as well school of medicine. Some of the major events conducted in the stadium by school of medicine are as follows.
D Y PATIL UNIVERSITY students organize Medical Premier League (MPL), Dental Premier League (DPL) in this stadium. Various cricket teams are formed by the students and faculty for MPL / DPL and this event is very well supported by the students, Alumni as well faculty which gets a good media coverage. Such types of sports events are helpful healthy body and sound mind. It is also teaching students how to work as a team and how to come over your defeat. All such sports activities prepare student and enhance their sportsmen’s spirit to handle all odds in life.
In this world class stadium various gigantic events are organized and School of Medicine always provided a team of well train doctors for all such events. Participation in such Mega events on special task provide good experience to students that how to deal with casualties, immediate action to provide- First aid and how to work as a medical team. This will help in their holistic growth as a doctor which can serve better for society and will always be ready to tackle emergency and casualties.
D Y PATIL UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF MEDICINE has conducted a huge health checkup camp (largest OPD patients) which was recorded in Genius World Record Book.

University Ground
Dimension : 14937 SQ.M
A multipurpose sports facility inaugurated in the year 1999, the University ground is an
exceptional Cricket and Football training facility.
It has a Private Security head along with a sophisticated Disaster Management Team.
A complete maintenance backup ensures seamless game play in every condition.
FOOTBALL GROUND
Dimensions : 120m X 65
This multipurpose ground sees both football and cricket and has the potential to be transformed for
a concert with a crowd of over 5 thousand.It’s a newly developed facility inaugurated in the year
2017. It is subjected to diligent maintenance and regular checks to sustain its exceptional condition.
Its International FIFA standard ground.
FUTSOL GROUND
Dimensions : 63m X 30
A newly developed dynamic facility that can be transformed for a variety of purposes. It has been
used for Futsol, Box Cricket, Small Concerts and a various events.
OUTDOOR SPORTS
D Y Patil Sports Academy is home to a variety of sports facilities that maintain sync with global
standards. With an aim to strengthen sport involvement and quality at grassroot levels we provide
coaching for a variety of outdoor sports and encourage active student participation in the same.
BASKETBALL
Outdoor surfaces are
generally made from
standard paving
materials such as concrete or asphalt. In the National Basketball Association (NBA), the court is 94
by 50 feet (28.7 by 15.2 m). Under International Basketball Federation (FIBA) rules, the court is
minutely smaller, measuring exactly 28 by 15 metres (91.9 by 49.2 ft. The baskets are always 10
feet (3.0 m) above the floor (except possibly in youth competition). And it has a three-point arc at
both baskets.
SWIMMING
D Y Patil Sports Academy has an olympic size swimming pool which is 50 metres (164.0 ft) long.
This is typically referred to as “long course“.
It follows standard sanitation methods including a water filter to remove pollutants, disinfection to
kill infectious microorganisms, swimmer hygiene to minimize the introduction of contaminants into
pool water, and regular testing of pool water, including chlorine and pH levels.
TENNIS
It is a firm rectangular surface with a low net stretched across the center. The same surface can be
used to play both doubles and singles matches.
Hard courts are made of uniform rigid material, often covered with an acrylic surface layer to offer
greater consistency of bounce than other outdoor surfaces.
VOLLEYBALL
A volleyball court is 9 m × 18 m (29.5 ft × 59.1 ft), divided into equal square halves by a net with a
width of one meter (39.4 in). The top of the net is 2.43 m (7 ft 11 11⁄16 in) above the center of the
court for men’s competition, and 2.24 m (7 ft 4 3⁄16 in) for women’s competition, varied for
veterans and junior competitions.
The team courts are surrounded by an area called the free zone which is a minimum of 3 meters
wide and which the players may enter and play within after the service of the ball. All lines
denoting the boundaries of the team court and the attack zone are drawn or painted within the
dimensions of the area and are therefore a part of the court or zone.
INDOOR SPORTS
D Y Patil Sports Academy is home to a variety of sports facilities that maintain sync with global

SQUASH
The squash court is a playing surface surrounded by four walls. The court surface contains a front
line separating the front and back of the court and a half court line, separating the left and right
hand sides of the back portion of the court, creating three ‘boxes’: the front half, the back left
quarter and the back right quarter. Both the back two boxes contain smaller service boxes. The
floor-markings on a squash court are only relevant during serves.
CARROM
Carrom boards are available in various board sizes and corner-pocket sizes. There are smaller
boards and boards with larger pockets. Boards with larger pockets are used by beginners for easier
game play. On traditional carrom boards, the corner pockets are only slightly larger than the carrom
men, but smaller than the striker. On boards with larger pockets, it is possible to pocket the striker.
TABLE TENNIS
The table is 2.74 m (9.0 ft) long, 1.525 m (5.0 ft) wide, and 76 cm (2.5 ft) high with any continuous
material so long as the table yields a uniform bounce of about 23 cm (9.1 in) when a standard ball is
dropped onto it from a height of 30 cm (11.8 in), or about 77%. The table or playing surface is
uniformly dark colored and matte, divided into two halves by a net at 15.25 cm (6.0 in) in height.
BADMINTON
The court is rectangular and divided into halves by a net and is marked for both singles and doubles
play.The The full width of the court is 6.1 metres (20 ft), and in singles this width is reduced to 5.18
metres (17 ft). The full length of the court is 13.4 metres (44 ft). The service courts are marked by a
centre line dividing the width of the court, by a short service line at a distance of 1.98 metres (6 ft 6
inch) from the net, and by the outer side and back boundaries. In doubles, the service court is also
marked by a long service line, which is 0.76 metres (2 ft 6 inch) from the back boundary.
The net is 1.55 metres (5 ft 1 inch) high at the edges and 1.524 metres (5 ft) high in the centre. The
net posts are placed over the doubles sidelines, even when singles is played.
GYM
This gymnasium follows international standards and is well equipped with sophisticated machinery
providing a wide range of options in approaching fitness.
It includes a series of well differentiated sections for Strength Training, Cardio, Cross fit and
Yoga.
Goal – Oriented Personal Training is available specializing in weight loss and a rare Taekwondo
Training Program.
The D Y Patil stadium is a state-of-the-art sports and entertainment stadium officially inaugurated
on the 4th of March 2008.it incorporates the best-practices of cricket stadium around the world.
Some of the main features of the stadium are described below.
Capacity
The stadium has a capacity of 45,000 people.
Roof
The stadium roof is made from fabric imported from Germany. It is India’s first and largest fabric
roof.
Sound System
DY Patil Sports Stadium is the first sports stadium in the world to have a full fledged concert-level
reinforced music system.
Lighting
The masts are the tallest in the country, providing excellent lighting throughout the ground.
Moreover, the high-quality illumination ensures that the stadium is adequately prepared for the
latest television technologies such as HDTV (High Definition TV).
Permanent diesel generators have been installed to ensure uninterrupted power supply during
games.
A 500 KW solar plant has been installed to take care of more than 70 per cent of electrical
requirements of the stadium as an initiative to minimize any unfavorable environmental effect of
the stadium.
Pitch and Outfield
For the ground, 250 tons of clay were imported from South Africa. The pitch was prepared based
on the advice and guidance of professors Neil Tainton and John Klug, also of South Africa.
Stadiums around India typically have outfields made from red soil. When it rains, the outfield tends
to become sluggish and heavy. To minimise the interruption because of rain, outfield is sand based.
A completely concealed underground drainage system helps quickly remove water.
A nursery ground with 10 practice pitches is also on the campus of the DYPSA.
Seating
The stadium has been designed keeping in mind spectator comfort and safety. Every spectator has
an individual bucket seat. There are no pillars obstructing views of the ground. Two giant LED
screens – the biggest in India – provide scores, replays and other information.
Surveillance and Safety
Spectators are monitored by a network of digital cameras producing images of very high quality,
which are sent to security agencies. Axis cameras (the product of a Sweden-based company) have
been installed for the first time in India.
The surveillance system is highly advanced when compared to conventional Closed Circuit TV
(CCTV).
The stadium is designed to be earthquake-proof, with fire-fighting and evacuation facilities
Dressing rooms
Players have been provided with excellent dressing room facilities including ice-baths, recovery
areas.
Media centre
The stadium has an air-conditioned media centre that can accommodate 120 people. State-of-the-art
communication and support facilities have been provided.
Event Management
The stadium often hosts extremely high profile matches with capacity crowds. This requires
professional event management capabilities and highly skilled staff, which are provided by the D.
Y. Patil University.
Hospitality
Luxury suites with attached restrooms ensure that guests stay in comfort. Catering support is
provided in the main pavilion area.
Corporate Facilities
There are 60 spacious corporate boxes on the upper level of the viewing galleries.

Spacious, peaceful, Yoga hall is available in D.Y. Patil Deemed to be University School of Ayurveda on 3rd Floor having area 992. Sq.feet .Yoga hall is well equipped having all required facilities for Yoga and meditation practices like Yoga mat, LCD projector with screen,4 AC, good quality audio sound system, computer enabled with wi-fi facility. Hall is proper ventilation with nice view, soothing lights and wooden floor.
Activities held in Yoga hall are practical demonstration of students of TYBAMS and MD (swasthavritta) Yogasan, pranayam and meditation regularly. Yoga workshop and relaxation techniques are arranged periodically for teaching and non teaching staff .International Yoga week and yoga day celebrated for teaching staff, non teaching staff and patients in hospital. For Garbhasanskar workshops yoga demonstrations are also arranged in Yoga hall.
Yoga hall is centrally located in college and used for all activities held by institute for Students, patients, teaching and non teaching staff for wellbeing and prevent physical and mental health.
