Issue 1 Summer Term 2011 Freebrough Prom 2011 The 2011 Freebrough Prom took place in glittering style on 24 June at Gisborough Hall Hotel. Students enjoyed welcome drinks (non alcoholic of course), a two course meal, an awards ceremony and the chance to dance the night away! As part of the awards ceremony students voted for their choice of Prom King and Queen, best dancer, most likely student to become famous, most likely to be Mr Universe and most likely to become an evil genius, with trophies for the winners. Next year there will be an extra award for the Best 'Dad' Dancer, which is sure to be won by Mr Forteath! One of the highlights of the evening was a specially hired photo booth where students could go with friends to make an extra special keepsake and all students received a beautiful cupcake to enjoy the next day as a reminder of an excellent night. Huge thanks go to Mrs Rich and the Prom Committee for organising the event. Film Club Screening After a very successful first year the Freebrough Academy Film Club held a special screening celebration hosted by Reagan Kempton, our school co-ordinator, who travelled here from London especially for the event. Year 7 Early Transfer

A huge well done to our new Year 7 students who have successfully made the leap from primary school to secondary school since joining us on 4 July. Moving into Year 7 can seem a daunting prospect for many young people but by transferring Year 6 students to the academy at the end of the summer term we hope to alleviate some of the anxiety and help them to make a smoother transition. Students have followed an exciting 3 week timetable which includes a range of activities and lessons. So far they have enjoyed a treasure hunt, creativity day, a University experience and a taste of their new subjects.

Last day for most students:

BBC School News Report

Freebrough Academy’s BBC News School Team have been working hard to produce a section on the academy website about sports. The team have been conducting interviews, putting together reports and capturing the latest sporting news from around the academy and the world. One member of the team said: “I love taking part, it’s great asking students about the topics we choose. We always have a great time and work well together as a team”.
