Standing 6-foot-5, with a tall, red flattop haircut, the Bon Homme High School junior isn’t hard to miss at a track meet. But his perfor- mances of late could have more to do with him being noticed than his hair. “People don’t see me as a big threat. They think I’m just tall and uncoordinated,” Mil- len said, smiling, at Friday’s 22 nd annual Jim Flevares Relays in Tyndall. “I’m probably just the guy with the ‘fro, and people probably think, ‘He’s all rag- gedy and can’t do anything.’” That’s not what hap- pened Friday, though. Millen claimed individual titles in two events, the high jump (6-foot) and triple jump (39 feet, 11 ½ inches). He also took second in the long jump (19-5) and false started in the 110-meter hurdles – not giv- ing his hometown fans some- thing else to cheer about. Thing is, Millen doesn’t mind flying under the radar. It’s been that way ever since he started competing in varsity track back in middle school. Originally only wanting to be a high jumper, Millen later mastered the techniques in the triple jump and last year began competing in long jump. And yet, he still hasn’t reached his potential, accord- ing to his coach. “I don’t think he knows how good he can be yet,” Bon Homme head coach Byron Pudwill said. “Physically, in the last year, he really matured.
