KIALLA CENTRAL PRIMARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER Page 3
Our Education Week celebrations was a great success as we celebrated “Careers”. We started the week making our 3D Hot
Air Balloons about our future dreams and finished it off with a dress up day based on “What do we want to be when we grow up?”
The Life Education Van visited last Thursday. All of our students had a session in the Van with Harold. Miss Baker will be doing the follow up activities with all of our grades as part of Physical Education and Health. It was also pleasing to see some of our parents participate in the parent session.
On Friday Phil Squire conducted 2 cricket clinics at K.C.P.S. through Cricket Victoria. The Foundations, Grade 1s and Grade 2s did the Mascot Program. The Grades 3 to 6 did the Cricket Phys Ed Program. We will be doing some follow up activities with the students to get some new cricket gear for the school.
A big thank you to our students, parents /carers and staff for making this week a
special celebration. I would also like to thank Mrs O for doing the photo collages about what we want to be when we grow up. These are in this newsletter as our Classroom Wrap. Thanks to Erin Scott for her help on Friday too!
Last Wednesday we held our Open Day sessions for prospective new families for next year. We had 5 new families have a look at our school. Next year we have 9 siblings starting school therefore we only need a couple of these new families to enrol to maintain our current enrolment of 72. This is fantastic news for our school. I would like to thank the following parents and students for their contribution and support on the day: Bob Scott (School Council President), Tracy Blake
(Parents’ Club President), Annette Hunt, Stacey Rae, Jess Healey and Lauren Carroll, past students: Ella Kerr, Xavier Scott and Gemma Moulsdale, current students: Angus, Hamish, Pat and Lewis. All of these people and students helped promote our school. We are so lucky to have our past students willing to come back to share their experiences at K.C.P.S. and the positive impact it has had on their
secondary education.
On Sunday we hosted our annual Bunnings BBQ. This is always a good fundraiser for the school as well as a chance to promote our school to the broader community. Some people simply made a donation and others said they would put their Earn and Learn stickers in our box at the Market Place. I would like to thank our big group of helpers includ-ing: Stacy Kay, Damien Hunt, Bob Scott, Courtney Zito, Curtis Laidlaw, Peter Blake, Bonnie Morgan, Melissa Lines, Lisa Irwin, Bronwyn Johnson, Andrew Cowen, Luke Griffiths, Heather Adderly, Anthony Kerr, Bluey Rae and Amanda Perry. Without your support we could not do such events. From the Election Day Cake Stall and BBQ I can confirm that we made a profit of $1,118 and from Bunnings I am estimating we will make a profit of approximately $1,000.. These funds will go towards re-vamping our eating area where the picnic tables are. Our major fundraising event is our Bogan Bingo and Trivia Night on Friday 9th August at the Kialla District Hall. Tickets will go on sale at the start of Term 3.
On Friday 7th June we have a Curriculum Day as a Report Writing Day and students are not required at school. Please ensure you have alternative arrangements in place.

Talking Footy with Bomber 10
Round 10 Wrap
The Sir Doug Nicholls Indigenous Round commenced on Friday night at the SCG where
the Swans took on the Magpies. The Magpies downed the Swans in a thriller to make it
7 straight wins for the Pies beating the Swans by 7 points. Bomber 10 has it on good
authority that Magic Magpie is one very happy Magpie supporter. “Hot Pies” anyone!
On Saturday afternoon over in Tassie the Hawks and the Power did battle where the
Hawks had a good win over the Power by 31 points. Jack Gunston for the Hawks was
just too good kicking 6 goals to help the Hawks have a comfortable win.
The Kangaroo’s had a 25 points win against the Bulldogs which was to be Brad Scott’s
final game as coach of the Kangaroos. Kangaroo’s player Shaun Higgins was the key in
the end who helped set up the Kangaroo’s advantage the Bulldogs would not be able to
overcome.
Saturday evening the Crows and the Eagles played on the Crows home ground the
Adelaide Oval. The Crows got off to a great start and were leading by 33 points early in
the third quarter but the Eagles came back kicking 10 goals to 3 goals for the Crows to
come out the winner by 12 points.
On Saturday night the Tigers and the Bombers played in the Dreamtime at the “G”
game in the rain. The Tigers got off to a great start but in the final quarter the Bombers
showed a glimmer of hope, but it was a little too late. The Tigers won by 23 points.
To complete the Saturday games the Suns took on the Cats up at the Gold Coast where
the Cats had a comfortable win over the Suns by 27 points. The Suns were able to keep
up with the Cats for almost three quarters but the Cats were just too strong.
On Sunday afternoon the Demons and the Giants played at the MCG. The Giants were
able to break their MCG when they defeated the Demons by 26 points. The Giants hav-
ing only won just 2 of 16 at the MCG.
The Saints and the Blues played at Marvel Stadium on Sunday afternoon where the
Saints were able to defeat the Blues by 13 points.
To complete round 10 the Sir Doug Nicholls Indigenous Round we saw the Dockers and
the Lions played at Optus Stadium in Perth. The Dockers defeated the Lions with a kick
after the siren to win by the barest of margins of 1 point. The kick hit the post but that
was enough to win the game.
Footy Tipping Stars of the Week – for Round 10 were – April Laidlaw, Cooper Laidlaw,
Dylan’s Kanga’s, Greymouse, Hawks Nest, Sal’s Dee’s, The Bolt, Tiger Trouble and
