Personal utility vehicle is a three wheeled, battery powered, electric vehicle.

It is based on the idea of a Segway. The name segway is derived from the Italian

word segue meaning smooth transition. It can also be referred as a personal transporter. It is one of the leaders in personal and green

transportation. The device is technologically advanced and

easy to use , and when controlled in the correct manner.

Introduction:

Page 3: sppt

Fuel prices have risen, pollution levels are increasing day by day ,there is a greater awareness of the damage caused by carbon dioxide and other green house gases.

The personal utility vehicle helps in reducing pollution by cutting down oil usage and by using the existing energy sources efficiently.

They do not produce any emission during the operation.

Problem Definition:

Page 4: sppt

• Batteries – Lead acid batteries (12V or 24V depending on the power required for the motors).

• Motors – 12V or 24V DC motors.• 3 wheels.• Handle for manoeuvring the vehicle.• Rim braking system.• Wooden board for assembly and support.• DC motor control drive.

PUV runs on 3 wheels. The motors run using 12V or 24V

rechargeable lead-acid batteries. The motor speed is set by the DC motor

control drive. The motors are directly connected to the

rear wheels.Speed is controlled using mechanical braking

system. It is a rear wheel driven vehicle. The directions are controlled using a handle.

Working:

Page 13: sppt

A clean, green, eco-friendly machine(zero emission).

Low operating costs.Very economical when compared to Segway.More work can be done by using the product

vs walking.Reduces fatigue caused by walking.

Advantages:

Page 14: sppt

Slow having a maximum speed of 12.5mph.Does not exactly say how far the segway will

go with riders of different masses.Heavy weighing around 100lbs.Unlike bicycles, a drained segway cannot be

pedalled home.Expensive.Ground clearance is less.

Disadvantages:

Applications:

Page 24: sppt

• The vehicle can be further enhanced by using high capacity motors and dc motor drive of high amps.

• Attaching a seat the vehicle can be used by physically disabled.

• PUV racing can be organized.

• Future Enhancements
