Last Fr iday we hosted our

W hile JCL was filled with joy o

of sentiment b roke out as we
realized t hat our Seniors would soo
be leaving us. This would be their
last event of the BEST club on
campus--the Junior Classical
League. ( I know, it makes me sad
too.) BUT let's remember some of
the best moments at Banquet

A Word from
Mr. Davis
What w as the most memorabl e moment of JCL th is
year?
It 's hard to limit it t o just one moment.
Watching the club in their shirt s for the spirit
comp etition at state convention was a thrill
for m e. Just the behavior of everybody and t he
way we threw winter formal--that w as a big
thr ill for m e. And I just think th at in all the vibe
of the year, that t his was a great year for JCL.
Terrif ic leadership and great p art icipat ion.
Over th e course of th e four years, w hat w as your
fav orite moment w ith the Seniors?
Watching them t ake over the leadership of
JCL and wat ching them t hrow state
convention. Enjoying t hem grow up from 9th to
12th g rader s.
Do you have any w ords of w isdom for th e Seni ors?
I've been telling t hem since I've known them to
follow their dream s. Follow their hear t - -not
their p ocket book.
Do you hav e a favori te Latin j oke you'd li k e to sha
wi th them?
Just "Semper ub i sub ub i "
What do you think is the most uni que part of this
year's Senior cl ass?
First of a ll this is a reall y smar t senior class, I
mean really outstanding students. In fact, I thi
it 's thei r att it ude; this senior c lass showed up a
terrif ically positive attitude and a wanting to d
well. And VERY inclusive--want ing everyb ody t
feel included.
What' s somethi ng about JCL you w ant the Seniors
remember w hen they are look ing back at th eir hig
school years?
I want them to remem ber t heir fr iendships. I
want t hem to rememb er the times they spent
with their friends that t hey love and enjoy.
THAT's the m emor ies I want them to have.
Do you hav e any last w ords?
Yeah. I want them to fo llow thei r d ream s as I
said b efore and wish them a wonder ful,
wonder ful adult life.

Word from
Mich
What w as the most memorabl e moment of JCL th is
year?
My favorite m oment is alway s w hen something
word-wise strikes somebody that they d idn't
know ahead of t ime. Like when I taught
hipp opotam us meaning "water horse." That's
w hat I really like--those little m oment s in class
w hen a word or phrase makes students say
"Oh my good ness "
Over th e course of th e four years, w hat w as your
favori te moment w ith the Seniors?
Convent ion. The one we hosted . Just seeing
them get t ogether and take care of things. And
they worked so hard that year that it made
anything they wanted to d o this year that
much easier.
Do you have any w ords of w isdom for the Seniors?
W hatever or w herever they end up doing or
going, they are going to b ring their
experiences forw ard wit h them. They can't
ever g et rid of who they are. But t hey can also
use that t o their advantage
to say that "I've come from t his very strong
position and done so much and succeeded so
well that I don't care what the world might bri
my wa y. I've already h andled so m uch and I ca
handle t his too. " So my word s of wisdom w ou
be t hat you know already t hat you are a succe
and amazing and nothing t hat comes your wa
should tell you differently.
What do you think is the most uni que part of this
year's Senior cl ass?
There's so m any d ifferent styles of Seniors tha
they were able to come tog ether and g et thing
done. And say that w hatever we do and
wherever we came from th at we are part of th
legion and t hat we'll all achieve together.
What' s somethi ng about JCL you w ant the Seniors
remember w hen they are look ing back at th eir hig
school years?
That J CL was a welcoming place. That J CL to
them in w hen they first cam e here. It gave tha
squeaky voiced Freshmen a place w here they
could g row and t hey could learn and also star
taking on responsibilities within t he language
and com munit y.
Do you hav e any last w ords?
Seems like the Seniors have b een Seniors
forever. It's tim e for t hem t o go out and be
awesome.

JOURNEY SCRAM
Year in Review
Crawling t hrough the Underwor ld,
one of our larg est Freshmen class
was inaugurated into JCL. Among
the obstacles was the toilet of
mushiness and throw-up inducing
sausages. (Don't b lame us, it 's
par t of the ritual.)
SCRAM was at Woodbridge High
School this year, and it was a
great f irst convention for the
Freshmen. As usual, our JCL
family destroyed the
compet it ion (if there was any to
begin with).

CONVENTION
This year we attended convention
at Miramonte High School. Even
we'll admit that t he magician and
hypnotist were SOMETHING ELSE.
But the convention we hosted is
and will always be #1 in our hear ts.
