In 1890 my great-great grandfather, Edmund S. Lorenz first began publishing sacred music to meet the needs of church musicians including keyboard subscriptions and anthems. In the following 125 years, much has changed in music and the world, and the Lorenz family has grown to include many of today’s most talented sacred composers and arrangers. We will be celebrating the long and storied history of our family for all of 2015!

Our identity is reflected in the works of our composers. Together, we have continued to provide inspiring and innovative settings of beloved hymn tunes while growing our catalog to include contemporary and blended arrangements that address the needs of today’s musicians. Do you think that our 1890s counterparts could have imagined our Rhythm and Praise series? Maybe not, but they would definitely recognize our new Hymn Heritage Series. Regardless, I know that they would be proud because this variety comes in direct response to your needs.

The pieces in this catalog embody our mission to serve church musicians. We are honored to count many of today’s finest composers of church music in our family. We hope that their experiences serving their churches and communities result in keyboard music that will resonate with you and your congregation. In this significant anniversary year, we would like to invite you to join in the celebration by participating in our anniversary contest*. We look forward to hearing and seeing how Lorenz music has inspired your music ministry.

It continues to be my great privilege, and that of the entire Lorenz family of composers and editors, to share with you selections from the most talented composers of church music today. We look forward to serving those who serve the church for another 125 years.

Organ Level Descriptions Piano Level Descriptions

Easy — Music is written with simple rhythms and limited technical demands. A manuals only scoring option is often utilized, making selections perfect for pianists who are transitioning to organ.

Moderately Easy — Uncomplicated rhythms are included, with few technical encumbrances. Easily executable pedal parts include much use of toe-to-toe and pedal point.

Intermediate — A wide range of styles and organ forms are utilized. There is additional manual and pedal involvement in terms of rhythm and tempo that does not exceed average technique.

Moderately Advanced — Above-average manual and pedal technique is required. In most cases, music will call for additional preparation time.

Advanced — This is technically demanding music that is intended for the proficient player, with full use of manual and pedal divisions. Many of these selections rise to the level of recital repertoire.
