Lost and then Found Bracelet / $95

Instructor Cynthia RutledgeLevel IntermediatePrerequisite Profi cient in Peyote stitchSession 1 FRI, Feb 17, 10am - 5pm

This design is inspired by the historical signifi cance of sunken treasure found on Nuestra Señora de la Atocha. Among the treasure were undocumented Columbian emeralds, huge chains of gold rings called “money chains” and unregistered gold bullion. This wrap-style bracelet drew inspiration from the “money chains” found aboard the Atocha. The bracelet has two strips of peyote stitch joined with pearls. Five components embellish the top wrap of the bracelet representing the coins and gemstones that were part of the treasure.

To this day, she is one of the largest sunken treasure fi nds in the world. The design features gems, gold and chain reminiscent of the treasure with CZ and pearl embellishments.

Rosetti’s Vita Nuova Bracelet / $95

Instructor Cynthia RutledgeLevel AdvancedPrerequisite Netting and Flat Peyote StitchSession 1 SUN, Feb 19, 10am - 5pm

This elegant bracelet design draws inspiration from the jewelry in Dante Gabriel Rossetti’s painting, Monna Vanna (c. 1866). The main inspiration for this piece is from the torque (ancient Greek or Roman bracelet). Most torque designs featured lion or ram heads, facing one another as terminals. Similarly this bracelet begins with two shaped peyote stitch “heads” with large Swarovski pearls facing off and a beautiful netted band created using a fi lled netting technique.
