Tagging and search terms

Tags provide an effective way of searching for content on social networks.

They can be used in a variety of ways to describe, locate and link items.Descriptive tags can be applied to many items in social media. We willillustrate an example of this on:

You will see articles return that are tagged with “getambition”.

Vimeo (a professional video website a bit like Youtube)

http://vimeo.com/channels/taigh

Go to Vimeo and search for the term 'taigh'. Find a video. When you find the result click on the video title. Hover over the video to see the ‘Embed’ option appear. Click then copy the embed code (looks like a load of non-

sensical text, known as ‘html’) of the video. Then, go back to your Ning profile page and post your video by pasting the embed code into the 'My Videos' box. Tag, title and add a description.

Save.

You'll see the video appear as an ‘embed’.
