Springer Municipal Schools Facilities Master Plan - 2013-2018
ARC contracted with Springer Municipal Schools in Springer, New Mexico, to develop a comprehensive facilities master plan (FMP). The plan includes a physical evaluation of the district’s school and administrative support facilities, enrollment projections, and analyses of the area’s demographics and economics, school facility enrollment capacity, and school facility utilization.
The district maintains almost 106,000 square feet of school and support facilities for 190 students (2012-13). ARC evaluated school facilities and sites for physical condition, health/safety issues, code compliance, and programmatic issues. We researched construction costs for the area, and updated the digital project cost database. We identified over $7.4 million in total facility renewal capital improvement project needs.
ARC recommended projects and developed a computerized database as a tool in developing priorities, funding strategies, future capital improvement project programs, and maintenance programs. A capital plan was created to clearly illustrate the district’s priorities and capital strategy. ARC also researched improvements to building use efficiency and the concept of a K-6 and 7-12 instructional model for the district’s schools.
ARC prepared site and facility drawings for the district’s physical plant inventory. The drawings can be used to record changes and will assist the district in facilities management. ARC also created color-coded school facility utilization “maps” to assist the district in facility use planning.
