CNMS’ Honors Reception

The CNMS Honors Reception Night will be on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 7:00 PM in Gym A. Since this is a special

night, students may want to dress up a little more than their usual school attire but it is not required. Parents and fami-

ly members are invited. Students will receive additional information through the morning announcements about this

special event.

The list of this year’s recipients in on the last 3 pages of this newsletter.

A group picture will be taken of all honor students on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 on the same date as Spring pictures.

This photograph will need to be paid for on April 16th at the time of the picture taking. There will be an optional individu-

al picture offered, as well.

Penny Titzer, Counselor

Mr. Bertram addressing the Castle North Middle

School sixth grade during our "sixth grade only"

honor recognition for some of our outstanding stu-

dents who were successful in recent high-level

writing and geography competitions.

The Summer Slide

No, it is not a ride at Kings Island! It is what happens

when students do not read all summer. Research

shows that students that don’t read in the summer lose

about three grade levels from where they left off in the

spring. Scary, huh?

Attached to this newsletter is an order form for Scho-

lastic Books that you can order for your student to

read over the summer. These summer reading packs

are extremely discounted so that as many students as

possible can afford them. Please send the order form

with payment to Ms. Pearson on or before April 30,

2014 to ensure delivery before school is out.

3K Walk/Run

It is hard to believe that in less than two weeks, CNMS will host its seventh annual 3K Walk/Run event! The Student Council is very appreciative of the generosity shown by the following donors: Deaconess Hospital, the Evansville Otters, Bayer’s Plumbing, Just For Kids Dentistry, ProRehab, Swonder Ice Arena, Jazzercise, Dr. Enlow, Dr. Gill, the Bunch family, the Brookman family, the Edris family, the Nance family, the Potter family, the Quinn , family, the Renschler family, the Riley-Staley family, the Simpson family, the Titzer family, the Wandel family, and the Wood family. It is not too late to help! We are still in need of donations. In addition, if you would like to volunteer to help during the 3K event, we would greatly appre-ciate your help. If you would be willing to offer as-sistance of any kind, please Ms. Killebrew ([email protected]) or Mrs. Riddle ([email protected]).

ISSMA Contests

Last weekend, the band student did a great job on

and off the stage. All three band groups earned

gold ratings and the 7th grade band earned gold

"with distinction."

The CN Troubadours also earned a gold rating at

this music contest.

We are all very proud of their performances and

their effort over the course of the school year to

achieve these results.

Also congratulations to their direc-

tors, Mrs. Kinney, Mr. Dailey, and

Ms. Dora!

Proud to be a musical Squire!
