After the Cleveland Browns drafted McCoy in the third round of the

2010 NFL Draft, the historic franchise stated that they were “finally

able to grab their quarterback of the future.” During his rookie

campaign, Colt started 8 games for the Browns and his success on

the field opened the door for a very successful future in Cleveland.

McCoy’s major highlight of his freshman year came in only his second

start in the NFL. On October 24th, 2010, the rookie quarterback

was able to lead the Browns to a 30-17 upset over the defending

Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints. When the season was

all said and done, Colt accumulated 1,576 Passing Yards and 7

total touchdowns.

Considered a “once in a lifetime college quarterback” by NFL.com,

McCoy’s name can be found all over the NCAA record books after 4

successful seasons at national power Texas. Colt won 45 games as a

starting quarterback at Texas, more than any quarterback in NCAA

Division 1 history.

After his outstanding senior season in which he led his team to the

BCS National Championship game, McCoy was awarded 13 of

the 15 major college player awards including the Davey O’Brien,

Maxwell, Walter Camp, and AT&T ESPN All-America Player of

the Year Awards. In addition, Colt McCoy was twice selected as a

Heisman Trophy finalist, finishing 2nd in 2008 and 3rd in 2009.

McCoy is currently in his second season as the starting quarterback

with the Cleveland Browns.

McCoy also starred as a prep athlete at Jim Ned H.S. in Tuscola, TX,

where he was twice named first-team all state as a Quarterback,

once as point guard, and qualified for regionals three times in track.

Many say that Colt’s success in life comes due to his leadership and

personality. Off of the field, McCoy is extremely involved in the

community through mission trips, including a trip to Peru and a with

Scott & White Children’s Hospital. He co-authored a book with his

father titled “Growing Up Colt” which focuses on the faith-based

principles his father instilled in him that he uses as the foundation of

his values.

For Immediate Release:

COLT MCCOY TO SPEAK AT DALLAS CHRISTIAN SCHOOL EVENTFEBRUARY 2012

MESQUITE, TEXAS, October 5, 2011 – Quarterback of the NFL’s Cleveland Browns and Former Quarterback for the University of Texas at Austin Longhorns, Colt McCoy, will be the featured speaker at Dallas Christian’s Partnership Dinner. Special guests will include Colt’s parents, Brad and Debra McCoy. The dinner will be held on February 25, 2012 at the

Hilton Anatole Hotel located in Dallas, Texas.

This year the dinner will be led by Co-Chairs Kevin Jones and Kelly Wilson. Both have children at Dallas

Christian School and have been involved in various school events while also holding leadership positions with the Dallas

Christian Athletic Association.

In October 2009, a personal testimony about Colt’s faith in Christ was added to the I Am Second video testimony series. “We are thrilled to have Colt McCoy speak at an event that is so important to our school. He is a humble leader, a faithful servant and a person of high integrity. Everyone will benefit from hearing his story.” said Kevin Jones, Co-Chair. “We are so excited to have Colt McCoy as our guest speaker. It is truly an honor to have someone of his character share his story with us. It’s going to be a great event!” said Kelly Wilson, Co-Chair.

Every other year, Dallas Christian School holds The Partnership Dinner to help raise funds and awareness for the private school located near the intersection of Interstate 635 and Interstate 30. Past dinners have included former first lady Barbara Bush and Colonel Oliver North to name a few. Sponsorships are still available for the 2012 dinner.

Founded in 1957, Dallas Christian School is a nationally recognized blue ribbon school of excellence. It is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the National Christian School Association.
