Robotic Insects:
Insects have come up with many interesting solutions for the problems that future robots will have to deal with like cooperation, specialized movement and adapting to changing environments. Robotic engineers are incorporating examples found in nature into their designs
Wearable bionic suits are being developed for the military to allow soldiers to carry heavier loads and to conserve energy.
Other uses for exoskeletons are assisting rescue workers move heavy objects and bionics for motor-impaired patients.
Robotic Prosthetics:
A prosthesis or prosthetic implant is a robotic device
that restores the normal functions of a body part, lost
through trauma, disease, or a condition present at
birth? Prosthetics are controlled by neural activity in
the brain to restore motor function to where it feels
entirely.
Exoskeletons: The ultimate goal of the RoboCup project is to develop a
team of fully autonomous humanoid robots that can win against the human world champion team in soccer by the year 2050. The FIRST Robotics Competition challenges teams of young people and their mentors to solve a common problem in a six-week timeframe using a standard "kit of parts" and a common set of rules..

Palm vein authentication is a vein feature authentication technology that uses palm veins as the biometric feature. Palm vein patterns are normally captured using near-infrared light via either the reflection or the transmission methods.

Joe Rice, An automation controls engineer at Kodak’s An-nesley Factory, invented vein pattern recognition in the early 1980s in response to his bank cards and identity being stolen.
How does Palm vein technology work?
Palm vein scan is a biometric that works by using infrared light to map the unique vein structure of your palm, capturing over 5 million data points. The palm vein scanner then converts
these data points into a unique encrypted code that
becomes your biometric ID.
Palm Vein pattern recognition
The haemoglobin in your blood contains oxygen when it is transported from your lungs to the tissues in your
body by your arteries. By the time the blood flows back to your heart via different arteries this oxygen has
Been relesed.
Vein pattern recognition uses this difference between deoxidised and oxygenated
haemoglobin.
Retina vein pattern recognition
The human retina is a thin layer of tissue at the back of the eye. Because of the complex structure of capillaries that supply blood to the retina, every retina is unique. Retina vein pattern recognition
involves scanning the retina by shining (non-infrared) light through the eyeball. As the blood vessels in the retina absorb this light, the vein pattern can be discerned and stored as an image. Retina vein
pattern recognition is becoming less popular, mainly because it is not a user-friendly technique.
Finger vein pattern recognitionFinger vein pattern recognition is based on the same principle as palm vein
pattern recognition. Illuminating the vein pattern in the fingers using near-infrared light makes it possible to discern this pattern, thanks to the deoxidised
haemoglobin.In the case of a finger scan the surface area you are dealing with is much smaller,
however. That means, on the one hand, that this is a more compact technique than palm vein pattern recognition, as the scanner is simply a smaller device.

VIRTUAL REALITY
Virtual reality is an artificial environment that is created
with software and presented to the user in such a way
that the user suspends belief and accepts it as a real
environment. On a computer, virtual reality is primarily
experienced through two of the five senses: sight and
sound.
Virtual reality can be divided into:
• The simulation of a real environment for training and
education.
• The development of an imagined environment for a
game or interactive story.
Who invented VIRTUAL REALITY?
Joe Bardi is Marxent’s former Communications Director. Prior to joining Marxent, he spent
a decade working as Managing Editor and movie critic at Tampa’s Creative Loafing
newspaper, then handled digital content and strategy for ABC 7 WWSB.

How is virtual reality achieved?
Although we talk about a few historical early forms of virtual reality elsewhere on the site, today virtual
reality is usually implemented using computer technology. There are a range of systems that are used
for this purpose, such as headsets, omni-directional treadmills and special gloves. These are used to
actually stimulate our senses together in order to create the illusion
of reality.
Why have virtual reality?
Immersive films and video games are good examples. The
entertainment industry is after all a multi-billion dollar one and
consumers are always keen on novelty. Virtual reality has many
other, more serious, applications as well.

The word “leadership” can bring to mind a variety of images

Leaders help themselves and others to do the right things. They set direction, build an inspiring vision, and create something new. Leadership is about mapping out where you need to go to “win” as a team or an organization; and it is dynamic, exciting, and inspiring.
Yet, while leaders set the direction, they must also use management skills to guide their people to the right destination, in a smooth and efficient way.

Qualities that will make you stand out from the crowd
1.Leadership as position
Position based leadership assumes it is where people operate that make
them leaders. It implies that the character of the leader is less important than their position.
2.Leadership as person
Person based leadership says it is who you are that makes you a leader. The great leader is heroic or charis-
matic? Do people follow because there is an emotional relationship between
leader and follower.
3.Leadership as result
Results based leadership focuses on what leaders do. Employees willingly follow result-based leaders who know both who they are and where they are
going.
4.Leadership as process
The process-based leadership considers the relationship between leader and practice. It is what leaders do that matters. The process of influencing the activities of an individual or a group in efforts toward goal achievement in a
given situation.

Different leadership styles exist in work environments. The culture and goal of an organization determine which leadership style fits best. Some organizations offer different leadership styles within an organization, depending on the necessary tasks to complete and departmental needs.

SHIPYARD
A shipyard (also called a dockyard) is a place where ships are built and repaired.
These can be yachts, military vessels, cruise liners or other cargo or passenger
ships. Dockyards are sometimes more associated with maintenance and basing
activities than shipyards, which are sometimes associated more with initial
construction. The terms are routinely used interchangeably, in part because the
evolution of dockyards and shipyards has often caused them to change or merge
roles.
The shipyard started offering ship repair services in 1982 and
has undertaken upgrades and repairs for all types of ships
including ships for the oil exploration industry as well as
scheduled maintenance and life extension for ships of
the Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard, the Union
territory of Lakshadweep, Fisheries and Cochin Port
Trust, SCI and the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC). It
has performed major overhauls for the aircraft
carrier, INS Viraat. It has also performed major overhauls for
the aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya two times on 2016 and
2018 respectively.

The world's earliest known dockyards were built in the Harappan port city of
Lothal circa 2600 BC in Gujarat, India. [citation needed] Lothal's dockyards
connected to an ancient course of the Sabarmati river on the trade route
between Harappan cities in Sindh and the peninsula of Saurashtra when the
surrounding Kutch desert was a part of the Arabian Sea. Lothal engineers
accorded high priority to the creation of a dockyard and a warehouse to serve
the purposes of naval trade. The dock was built on the eastern flank of the
town, and is regarded

factory, several hundred years before the Industrial

Arsenal apparently mass-produced nearly one ship

continuously changed, rebuilt and modified, but two original towers
and part of the original eight construction naves remain today. It

The “Great Conjunction of Jupiter and
Saturn 2020” awes the world!
What’s this conjunction..? A great conjunction is a conjunction of the planets g when the two planets appear closest together in the sky.
Great conjunctions occur approximately every 20 years when Jupiter "overtakes" Saturn in its orbit.
When do they happen?
Jupiter-Saturn conjunctions happen every 20 years; the last one was in the year 2000.
But these conjunctions aren’t all created equal. The 2020 great conjunction of Jupiter
and Saturn will be the closest since 1623 and the closest observable since 1226! 2020’s
extra-close Jupiter-Saturn conjunction won’t be matched again until the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction of March 15, 2080.

actually 456 million miles (734 million km) apart. Saturn is
nearly twice as far away as Jupiter.

the constellations of the zodiac that Jupiter and Saturn have the least frequent of bright-planet conjunctions.
Saturn takes nearly 30 years to go around the sun, while Jupiter takes nearly 12 years. Thus, every 20 years, Jupiter catches up to Saturn as viewed from Earth.
Why do these conjunctions happen..?
Here's why these great Jupiter/Saturn conjunctions happen every 20 years. Each
year, Saturn completes about 12 degrees of its orbit around the sun, whereas Jupiter completes about 30 degrees. Therefore, in one year, Jupiter closes the gap between
itself and Saturn by about 18 degrees (30 – 12 = 18 degrees).
In a period of 20 years,Jupiter gains 360 degrees on Saturn (18 x 20 = 360 degrees),
therefore lapping the ringed planet once every 20 years.
A g lance at past 2000’s great conjunction…
At the 2000 great conjunction, 20 years ago, Jupiter and
Saturn were near the sun in our sky and difficult to observe.
We’re due for a more observable great conjunction. Jupiter
and Saturn are up every evening
The spacing between the planets varies from conjunction to
conjunction with most events being 0.5 to 1.3 degrees (30 to 78 arcminutes, or 1 to 2.5 times the width of a full moon). Very close conjunctions happen much less frequently (though the maximum of 1.3° is still close by inner planet standards): separations of less than 10 arcminutes have only happened four times since 1200, most recently in 2020.
Where and how it can be seen?
NASA says the timing of the conjunction will be such that everyone around the world
will be able to view it.
Both the planets will appear so close to each other that a pinkie finger at arm's length
will be enough to cover both the planets in the sky.
If you happen to view through a telescope, Jupiter's four large moons orbiting the plant will also be seen.
The great conjunction will be visible nearly an hour after sunset in the southwestern sky.
In India, the conjunction will be visible between 6:30 pm and 7:30 pm.
Astronomy enthusiasts witnessed the rare conjunction of the two planets, Jupiter and Saturn through a telescope in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
It was also seen in Bengaluru,Karnataka ; Nagpur,Maharashtra.
