Four-to-Six Month (Beginner Puppy) Competition
This class will be offered for English Cocker Spaniels that are four months of age and over but under six months of age on the day of the event.
An AKC entry form needs to be submitted to the show secretary and an AKC registration or an AKC litter number is be required.
Professional handlers are not permitted to exhibit in this class. Professional handlers are defined as any person who belongs or has belonged to a professional handlers’ organization, distributed
rate cards, or otherwise advertised or represented themselves as handling dogs for pay.

Field Class Dog/Field Class Bitch: Open to any English Cocker Spaniel who has earned the ECSCA Working Dog (WD) or Working Dog Excellent (WDX) title or an AKC Field Championship (FC), Hunting Title (JH/SH/MH) or has placed in a stake at an AKC Cocker/English Cocker Spaniel Field Trial. Judging will be on conformation only and the winner of the Field Dog Class and the Field Bitch Class may complete in the Best of Breed Competition if otherwise undefeated in a breed class at this show. (Effective March 1, 1992, neutered dags and spayed bitches are eligible to enter these classes.
Winners of the above classes are eligible to compete in Best of Breed Competition. BEST OF BREED
(No defeated dogs will be allowed to compete) The following categories of dogs may be entered and shown in Best of Breed competition: Dogs that are Champions of Record. Dogs which according to their owners records have completed the requirements for a championship but whose championships are unconfirmed. The entry and showing of dogs whose championships are unconfirmed is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the show where a dog completed the requirements for a championship according to the owner's records. If, at the end of the 90 day period, the championship of a dog has not been confirmed by AKC, no further entries of the dog for Best of Breed competition are to be made until its championship has been confirmed by AKC.
Award of Merits: To be awarded to English Cocker Spaniels in the Best of Breed Class (other than Best in Specialty, Best
of Winners and Best of Opposite Sex to Best in Specialty), which best exemplify the breed’s characteristics. The ECSCSC will offer two Awards of Merit, which will be awarded by the judge prior to judging non-regular multiple dog entry classes. BEST PUPPY IN REGULAR CLASSES: For the winners of the 6 and under 9 mos., and 9 and under 12 mos. Puppy Dog and Puppy Bitch Classes. Dogs over 12 months of age are not considered puppies. In the event a winner of one of these classes is absent from the Best Puppy competition, the second place winner of the class is not eligible for this competition.
BEST BRED BY EXHIBITOR: For the winners of the Bred By-Exhibitor Dog and Bitch Classes. In the event a winner of one of these classes is absent from the Best-Bred-By-Exhibtor competition, the second place winner is not eligible to compete for Best in Bred-By-Exhibitor.

The English Cocker Spaniel Club of Southern California Sweepstakes is open to all dogs and bitches six months and under eighteen months of age on the day of the show. All dogs entered in the Sweepstakes must also be entered in a regular class. Entry should to be made at the same time and on the same entry form as for the regular class. Indicate “sweepstakes”, with the appropriate sex and age division, in the space provided on the form “Additional Classes”
6 and under 9 mos. 9 and under 12 mos. 12 and under 15 mos. 15 and under 18 mos. Same classes for Dogs & Bitches
