St. Vincent de Paul Society

In the Gospel today we hear the Beatitudes

and we find Jesus standing with those who

are poor, hungry, and weeping. Your decision to

bring food to our Mass today brings the blessings of

these Beatitudes to our neighbors who are poor,

Hungry, and weeping. You have listened to the

words of Christ. If you forgot to bring your gifts

today, just bring them along next week. In fact, any

Sunday is a good time to act on the Beatitudes by

bringing non-perishable food with you to Mass.

Our St. Vincent de Paul Conference will see that all

of it gets to our neighbors in need.

God bless you for what you do!

“Thank You” from A. & A. Alexandrina

A Huge Heartfelt Thank you to all the generous people of Saints Peter & Paul (by way of Bob and Josie Kanzenbach) from all the Mothers who share in the needs and lives of God's precious children at the A. & A. Alexandrina Center. There were so many diapers, beautiful clothes, and other items. We felt so fortunate to be able to share some of your donations with one young mom with 3 of her own children who came in looking for assistance for a nine month old boy with nothing whom she is caring for while his parents are both incarcerated. Prayers assured for you all!

Dear & Good People of

Ss. Peter & Paul,

As we gather at God's invitation, we continue our Ordinary Time reflections on discipleship today with Jesus' teaching of the Beatitudes.

How blessed we are to know that God loves even the least of us, and wants all of us to live by the law of love. May our prayer today be for the grace to live the Beatitudes as Christ desires that we do.

In the Gospel, Jesus is seen going up the mountain like Moses to preach to the people, but only His disciples sat with him as he preached and taught with authority.

Should we be alarmed at how few seen to respond to the challenge of Jesus' Beatitudes? Should we be disheartened that we, who do accept the truth of Jesus' Torah, find it so difficult to live?

Do we, as Pope Francis would say today “go out to the peripheries," or do we choose to stay in our own little world?

QUESTION OF THE WEEK:

Today's Beatitudes are the true test of the disciple. Do the words I hear in church today remain there?

How can I allow God's grace to work in me so that I begin to live the Beatitudes, and help to evangelize "the crowds?”

LITURGICAL FEASTS THIS WEEK:

Thursday, February 2nd. is the Feast of the Presenta-tion of the Lord in the Temple ~ “Candlemas Day.” Bring your candles from home to be blessed; Mass and procession will begin at 8am at the rear of the church.

Friday, February 3rd. is 1st Friday and the Feast of St. Blasé. Confessions will be heard before Mass, during Rosary at 7:30am. Blessing of throats follows Mass.

Saturday, February 4th. is 1st. Saturday with Fatima devotions and Rosary at 7:30am & Confessions before Mass. Blessing of throats will be given after Mass, and Fatima Program will follow in Fr. Schuh Hall.
