Thoughts for your Daily Prayer

Pope Francis’s June Intentions

Social Networks: That social networks may work towards that inclusive-ness which respects others for their differ-ences.

In Our Parish Community

Social Justice Ministry Issue: Refugees The Rohingya refugee crisis is one of the largest and fastest

growing emergencies in decades. The Rohingya are a state-

less Muslim minority who have lived in Myanmar for genera-

tions. They have been described by the United Nations as

being the most persecuted people in the world. Widespread

reports of arson, murder and rape have caused entire com-

munities to flee for their lives. Approximately 671,000 Roh-

ingya have fled violence and human rights violations in My-

anmar since August 2017. Nearly 80% of Rohingya refugees

are women and children. Source: www.unrefugees.org.

Teaching: What the Church teaches, is in scripture, or is the position of the archdiocese or USCCB:

Exodus 22:20—“You shall not molest or oppress an alien, for you were once aliens yourselves in the land of Egypt.” Share the Journey - Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Jesus calls us to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. Pope Francis is now calling us to share a journey with our neighbors - all our neighbors. Our neighbors include many of the world's most vulnerable people including refu-gees fleeing war, poverty and persecution - people who seek nothing more than basic needs and a path forward. We as a Church are answering the Pope's call to encounter and walk with these refugees in support and solidarity.

Action: What we can do to promote equality, rights, health, safety and dignity of others:

Learn, Pray, Donate - UNHCR, UN Refugee Agency -www.unhcr.org Join Pope Francis and the Church around the world in a

global campaign to love our immigrant and refugee neigh-

bors in Share the Journey. On September 27, 2017, Pope

Francis launched a two-year worldwide campaign in support

of migrants and refugees. In the U.S., the campaign is being

implemented by USCCB, CRS and Catholic Charities USA.

Catholics around the world can join the launch to generate

widespread media attention to the Church’s support and com-

mitment to Share the Journey of migrants and refugees. Oc-

tober 7-13 will be a week of prayer and action for U.S.

Catholics. On social media, use #ShareJourney and

#ComparteElCamino.

Young Adult Prayer Group Calling all Young Adults. Join other here at the Cathe-dral every other Monday, beginning May 21, 7 to 8pm . They will gather in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel for an hour of prayers. Bring your friends for some time with the Lord.

Educating Future Priests The Vocations Office received funds each year from a second collection taken up throughout the Archdiocese to cover the expenses of educating our future priests. The archdiocese anticipates having about 25 seminarians in formation this fall. Thank you for your spiritual and financial support which provides the necessary edu-cation and formation for our priests. Please be generous in support of this col-lection and please continue to pray for vocations!

If you know of a young man or woman you believe would serve well in priest-hood or religious life, please call (317) 236-1496 and leave the individual’s name and contact information with the vo-cation director, Fr. Eric Augenstein.
