Obesity in America has become a huge problem. It affects people of all ages, including children. Obesity causes many heart, stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, gallbladder disease and gallstones, osteoarthritis, gout, and breathing problems such as sleep apnea and asthma.

In this presentation I hope to raise awareness for obesity in America, and for people and children to get healthy again.

This affects thousands of people in the United States, it happens because of high portion size, processed food, and artificial food. Heredity also contributes to obesity. If someone's parents are obese they are more likely to pick up on their bad eating and exercise habits.

In the above slide you can see that the worst affected states in America are Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee.

Statistics show that Mississippi is the most obese state in the united states with a average BMI (Body Mass Index) of 34.4.

BMI shows how much of your body is fat.

Nauru is the highest percentage of obese people in the world with an alarming rate of 94.5%. While America has a rate of 74.1%. This is still a harmful percentage and need

to be solved.

Some solutions to this problem would be to eat healthier, exercise more, reduce fat in foods, and make food more organic and less processed.

Page 9: S.s presentation Zachary

My solution to this problem would be to make healthier food and improve processed food so it doesn’t have as much fattening additives. I would also like to raise awareness of this problem and get people motivated to come back from their bad habits.

The impact of this problem in the long term is many unhealthy people with many sicknesses from being obese. Hospitals will be full with obese patients and more food is needed for their expanded.

This problem was not always this big. In 2007 the average

BMI was ten points lower than it is now. This is a study from

and aid organization called obesity.org.

Obesity is a huge problem, I hope this problem will be solved because I don’t like seeing people suffer from obesity. It is a horrible problem for these people. I don’t think this problem will be solved soon, I think it will get worse looking at some of the recent rises in obesity statistics.
