Message from the President
Message from the President
Can you believe we are halfway
through our year already! Yes
that’s right. We do not have
meetings in June, July or Au-
gust.
We start up again on Septem-
ber 17th. And as long as I am
talking about this already, we
are having a welcome back pot
luck and to make it easy for
everyone we have come up with
a plan.ZzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZ
If your last name begins with
ABCDEFGH, bring a vegeta-
ble or salad.ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
IJKLMNOPQ, bring meat
dish or a casserole.ZZZZZZZZZ
RSTUVWXYZ, bring a dessert
This way we will a nice variety.
We had a very interesting
meeting tonight. Jack Mariano
wanted to come and talk to us
about the progress of the Sun-
west Park. A lot has been going
on and lot has to be done. He is
having some difficultly with the
other commissioners to release
more funds for the project. The
money is there and has been
for years. They just aren’t on
board with him on the park. It
seems they want all the tourist
tax spent on the other side of
the county and forget about us
over here in this area. Jack
asked us all to email the county
commissioners in hopes they will
see that our desire to have them
release more funds for the park.
You can see more details on this on
Nextdoor.com.
I have the signs for the Woodland
Park. These signs are for No Motor
Vehicles allowed on this property
etc. They will be in place soon.
Our treasurer Helen Hanley be-
came a renter this week as she sold
her home to her son. Therefore she
no longer could be on the board.
Pat Piccininno agreed to become
treasurer again. We can’t thank
him enough for stepping up and
doing yet another job. A big thank
you for Helen. She did a great job
for Sea Pines. But we do have By-
Laws that we must live by.
I want to wish everyone a safe and
happy summer. Some of you will be
going up North for the summer
months and others will be staying
home here. Whatever your pleas-
ure remember leave your plans
and a key with a neighbor just in
case. Have fun.ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
See you soon,ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Sea Pines Meeting Minutes for May 2014
Pledge to the flag was conducted.
County Commissioner Jack Mariano attended to
speak about the Sun West Park project that he
has been working on for nine years. He spoke for
approximately 3o minutes. He brought a large
map of all the proposed areas it would have, in-
cluding a wakeboard facility, zipline, 1 mile beach,
volleyball courts, boat ramps,boardwalks, conven-
tion area, swim/play areas for all ages, two re-
strooms. He needs us to support him on this . He
has asked us to email: countycommission-
[email protected]. Money is available from
tourist development and BP. This park will be an
asset to our west Pasco area, bringing in revenue
and development.ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Meeting called to order at 7:45 PM.
Roll call was taken by secretary. Present: Linda
Himebaugh, Jack Farrell, Patti Donald, Helen
Hanley, Jerry Sweet, Dawn King. Absent : Ernie
Reed.ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
The minutes will be in the newsletter. Helen Han-
ley read the treasurer’s report. Copies are availa-
ble . She is no longer a homeowner and cannot be
an officer. We thank her for the very efficient job
that she did for us. Pat Piccininno has agreed to
take over her position.
Membership: Pat reported that we now have 661
paid members, 18 short of last year. By Dec. we
should be ahead of last year. There were 28 mem-
bers attending the meeting.
Code Enforcement: Jack brought a courtesy no-
tice that Pasco County will hang on the house door
for various violations.Nate, the code enforcement
officer, will give the warning, then a citation if not
corrected.
Security: Thanks to Pat, the AC is fixed in the
truck. This is very important – while on patrol,
DO NOT GET OUT OF THE TRUCK.
Sunshine: Mark Nuzzo’s son passed away.
Mowing: Pat Palmieri is mowing, driving the
tractor.
Parks: Jerry thanked everyone who helped in-
stall the benches.
Street Lights: Helen presented a very detailed
report on the location and costs of the streetlights.
There were a few issues that needed to be clarified,
so a motion was made to table this until September.
Next Door: Dawn said we have 5 or 6 members
added since our last meeting.
Boat Ramp: Jack said he is looking for a new con-
troller. The current one is functioning good, but is
outdated. Over 300 fobs have been issued. Jerry has
now been trained by Jack to be his back-up. Please
note- there is a camera at the boat ramp. For those
few people who have been using this area as a bath-
room, you could be on film! Dawn asked about the
incident that took place last month. Jack found out
who was involved and dealt with them.
Fish Fry: Linda reported that is was an excellent
dinner and a fun time and encouraged the members
to attend these functions.
Siding the clubhouse: Linda is having a problem
getting estimates. She will try to get some during
the summer. Further discussion will take place in
September.
Kite flying day: Jerry is organizing this family fun
event to take place in Southwind Park on August 9th
around noon.He asked for volunteers to assist with
this.
Linda brought the new NO Trespassing signs to be
placed at Woodland Park. She also stressed that our
community does not allow solicitors. DO NOT BUY
from any or open your doors. Call her or the police if
you are approached. Jack said to be aware of squat-
ters, and activity at vacant houses.
At the Sept. 17th meeting, there will be a WELCOME
BACK POT LUCK DINNER, with the association
supplying the meat and members bringing a dish to
share. Jack suggested a designated entrée type, so
everyone doesn’t bring the same thing. Linda will
make a list, according to your last name initial and
put in newsletter.
Coastal Clean-up: Sept. 20th, also ADOPT A
ROAD, and will have large dumpster once again.
Ernie is still working on the putting green.
Meeting adjourned at 8:35 PM.
VOLUME VI , I SSUE VI PAGE 3 SEA P INES NEWS
Recently someone claiming to be from Sea Pines sent me a letter and the book " Essential English Grammar for Dummies." They claim my Veterans articles are pain-fully hard for them to read because my English grammar is so poor.
Many people do not know but English is my 2nd language. Yes ; my language skills are not perfect. I know I am honest-ly dedicated despite my barriers. There are so many people born in this country who do not care to learn the language properly...I care to do the best to my abil-ity. Also there are many people who mi-grate to this country, live here forever and never choose to speak, read or write the language. I at least cared to make an ef-fort.
When I was in the 4Th grade in school a teacher put me and my desk facing a wall away from the other students because I did not speak the language well. I have never forgotten that feeling of discrimina-tion.
When my sister and I went in the United States military it was suggested that we become naturalized US citizens to make the process easier. I choose to be an American.
I worked hard to succeed in life as an American. I never lived monetary off my parents, friends, family or the US Govern-ment( Welfare or food programs). I always have been proud to say I totally depend on myself and earned every penny on my own in this country. It is such a great feel-ing to know when I buy something it is from my hard work and skills.
I joined the military (retired) and went to a Methodist college... 4 years and gradu-ated. I continued on to the University Of Denver for specialized education in Vet-eran Benefits, Vocational Rehabilitaion Specialist and Transition Assistance Spe-cialist for Veterans. All required pre-testing, writing skills and qualifing in pub-lic speaking. NO ONE ever complained or said anything about my lack of skills. They took only the most qualified people in their programs. I retired from the Dept. Of Labor and militry. I received many city, state, Government and national awards through out my life. I do NOT feel I am a DUMMIE as implicated.
I strived my entire life never to be backed into that 4Th grade wall ever again by some ignorant and stupid hu-man being. The person who sent me that crazy letter and book just has no idea what work and skills it has taken for me to suceed in life. They obviously have way too much time on their hands and are bored with life and want me to feel as bad about myself as they feel about themselves.
My English Grammar is just fine as a volunteer and for not being born in this country. No one has ever complained about how I write the Veterans Corner and I have been doing this for 7 years. To write now and send an insulting book is just crazy acting, ignorant and shows a need for attention or shows your jelousy. I am sure you have talents that you can be used in constructive ways as a "retired English teacher". Volunteers are people who donate their time ,with no pay. to do what they enjoy. Volunteers do not have to be perfect to help in the community.

SEA P INES NEWS
I want to take this time and ask for your assis-
tance. In an effort to better serve our citizens,
the Pasco Sheriff’s Office has created the 2014
Pasco Sheriff’s Office Citizens Survey. This sur-
vey will help us pinpoint areas where we can
improve our services and better allocate re-
sources.
This is an important process because we want
to better understand what our citizens need and
value. It also opens a healthy dialogue. Addi-
tionally, this is a tool that helps inform the pub-
lic on how the sheriff’s office is funded.
Each Fiscal Year, a budget is crafted and ap-
proved by the Pasco County Board of County
Commissioners. Those budgets have often been
trimmed, but no matter what that final number
is, we are dedicated to protecting and serving
our citizens – and doing it well.
Here is a sample of a couple of the questions in-
cluded in the survey, which should take less
than 10 minutes to complete:
The Pasco Sheriff's Office receives less funding
per resident than other large Tampa Bay area
law enforcement agencies. How important do
you believe adequate funding for the Pasco
Sheriff's Office should be to the county commis-
sion when they allocate tax dollars?
In the role of government, where do you believe
public safety should rank?
Did you know that when you call 911 or Com-
munications non-emergency number that you
are speaking to a county employee and not a
Sheriff's Office employee?
Please visit this link online to complete the sur-
vey:
https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/JF6K9L2.
Thank you for your time.
