Message from the President
http://www.SeaPines-FL.com
What a wonderful time of year
here in sunny Florida with the
cooler temperatures and the holi-
day season upon us. Hope you
had a joyful Thanksgiving cele-
bration with your family and
friends.
This month I am looking forward
to the festive holiday weekend of
December 13th & 14th. Friday
night at the club house we will
have our annual Sea Pines
Christmas dinner followed by our
Christmas boat parade on Satur-
day.
Please contact Cookie Miller at
352-650-0140 to reserve your
tickets to the Christmas party.
Details of the event are in the
invitation notice here in the
newsletter and also posted on the
website www.seapines-FL.com
home page. This should be a lot
of fun with great food and a pro-
fessional DJ who happens to be
one of our own Sea Pines resi-
dents. Hope to see you there!
On Saturday night we will enjoy
the Christmas boat parade along
the canals of Sea Pines. This
popular event continues to grow
each year and features boats and
watercraft of all kinds adorned in
lights, holiday decorations and
Christmas music. I encourage
those with a boat to join the parade
by contacting Jeromy Gamble at
352-428-6533 for details. All are
welcome to view the parade from
the boat ramp or along the main
channel in Southwind Park. Please
stay away from the docks along the
sea wall as that is private property
belonging to Sea Pines residents.
At the last SPCA general meeting
in November the membership voted
to move forward with the installa-
tion of an electric meter box in
Southwind Park. At that meeting
we also engaged in a lengthy dis-
cussion about improving both
parks (Southwind and Woodlands)
for the enjoyment of our residents.
In the coming year the board will
be evaluating ideas and sugges-
tions to encourage utilization of the
park areas. These ideas will be
brought forward to the membership
to formulate a phased development
plan based on the money available.
The SPCA Board values your ideas,
thoughts and opinions regarding
Sea Pines (as a whole). Please take
time to attend the meetings and
make your voice heard. At the next
meeting in December we will vote
to elect the new board for 2020.
Happy Holidays!
Randy

All board members were present, so there was a quorum.
There was a motion made and seconded to approve the
minutes from the last meeting as printed in the newslet-
ter.
Jerry Sweet gave the treasurer’s report for the month of
November and there were no questions.
Report of Standing Committees

Cookie Miller reported that plans for the Christmas Par-
ty are coming along. The food has been planned and a DJ
has been booked. Tickets were on sale at the meeting for
$20 each. If you would like to purchase tickets, please
contact a member of the board.
SPCA Officers Nominating Committee
Donna Hodnicki conducted a search for volunteers to
serve on the Sea Pines board. All members whose posi-
tions are open have agreed to serve next year. We also
have an additional candidate for the board seat currently
held by Ernie Reed. The ballot was approved and nomi-
nations are now closed. The following slate will be pre-
sented at the December general meeting for a vote.
President - Randy Dennison
Vice President – Jeromy Gamble
Treasurer – Jerry Sweet
Secretary – Sara Hernandez
Member At Large – Ernie Reed or Matt Copeland - 3

Boat Ramp Committee
All is functioning well at the boat ramp. The security
cameras are up and running and keeping an eye on the
area. NOTE: Please remember to pick up your dog’s
droppings at the boat ramp.
Sunshine committee (Open position)
We currently do not have a chairman for this committee.
Mowing Committee
Pat Piccininno will continue as the committee chairman.
This committee can always use volunteers. We would
like to recognize resident John Hayes who has been very
helpful in maintaining and repairing all of Sea Pines
equipment. We would also like to thank all residents who
are voluntarily mowing vacant lots next to their own
properties. All efforts to keep Sea Pines looking good are
appreciated!
Adopt-a-Road Committee
The county has picked up the furniture and tires that
has been dumped along Old Dixie. There were several
suggestions to try and combat the amount of litter on
Old Dixie including posting signs, installing cameras,
and providing a dumpster. Pros and cons were discussed.
The next road clean up will be held on January 18,
2020.
Membership Dues Committee
The Sea Pines Civic Association currently has 800 mem-
bers. Membership notices will go out in December.
Please remember that the board has approved an in-
crease in membership dues from $45 to $50 for 2020.
Newsletter Committee
The newsletter is available on the website every month.
All input for the newsletter should be submitted to Jerry
Sweet by the 21st of each month.
Parks Committee
There were no issues to report.
Welcoming Committee
No news to report.

The Sea Pines signs have been updated with the new
website address. Please contact Randy Dennison with
any information you would like to include on the website.

install an electrical box at the Southwind Park. We hope
that members will attend the monthly meetings to give
input on improvements they would like to see at both of

DECEMBER RECIPE
Please understand that this recipe is simply a recipe for some smiles!
We stress over the holidays, wanting everything perfect, cooking until our pantries are empty, and the frig looks like it was raided by a group of teenagers! So…… when you are cooking up a storm in the kitchen that is too hot, and you are wondering just how you got there, read this recipe, and you will know just how easy cooking can be if you just put a smile on your face, and do one thing at a time, and remember after all that the holiday spirit & joy are for everyone, including the cook!
Please check out the monthly newsletters for information regarding the Sea Pines Women’s Club activities. We would love to see you at any of our activities.
THE PERFECT CHICKEN
This recipe was sent to me by a friend, and I simply could not resist sharing it with all of you!
“When I found this recipe, I thought it was perfect for people like me, who are not sure how to tell when Poultry is thoroughly cooked, but not dried out”.
Ingredients
1 Chicken
1 Cup melted butter
1 Cup stuffing
1 Cup uncooked popcorn
Salt/ Pepper to taste
Preheat oven to 200 degrees. Brush chicken well with melted but-ter, salt, and pepper.
Fill cavity with stuffing mixed with popcorn. Place in baking pan with the neck end toward the back of the oven.
Now for the tricky part…..
LISTEN for the popping sounds.
When the chicken’s arse blows the oven door open and the chicken flies across the room and lands on the table, it’s done, and ready to eat!
Are you smiling yet?
Now get back to really cooking!
Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year!

The Pasco Sheriff’s Office is committed to
a comprehensive approach to mental
health and substance abuse recovery in
our community. Our mission of law en-
forcement will always remain our first pri-
ority, but we understand outdated policing
philosophies that attempt to “arrest our
way out of a problem” are counterproduc-
tive.
Unfortunately, law enforcement agencies
are often the first and only mental health
provider to many citizens who need such
services as they do not have health insur-
ance. We strive to avoid unnecessarily
criminalizing mental health issues and in-
cidents whenever possible. Collaboration
with state and local government agencies
along with our community-based mental
health partners is the most effective way
to help our citizens achieve stabilization
and recovery in the long term. Individual
circumstances and needs are, of course,
unique, so there is no universal template
that can be applied in every case. Rather,
each behavioral health case is best served
through a custom-built, tailored approach,
often requiring mature relationships and
focused expertise.
In 2018, the Pasco Sheriff’s Office re-
sponded to 174,772 citizen-initiated calls
for service in our county. Of those, 11 per-
cent, or 19,283 calls for service, were di-
rectly mental health related. The average
ratio of health providers to members of the
population in Florida is 1 to 700. In Pasco
County, the ratio is 1 to 1,460, illustrating
the need for a comprehensive, partnered
approach.
For this reason, the Pasco Sheriff’s Office
18-person Behavioral Health Interven-
tion Team (BHIT) became operational in
August of this year. This Team focuses
on high utilizers of law enforcement and
other emergency services due to mental
and behavioral health issues. BayCare
provides additional support to BHIT by
committing three full-time case manag-
ers to help overcome barriers for treat-
ment. PSO also works with local govern-
ment departments such as the Depart-
ment of Human Services to assist our
homeless population and provide im-
proved care for our acutely mentally ill
citizens. BHIT identifies high utilizes
through data analysis, such as citizens
with multiple Baker or Marchman Acts,
or those who experience a non-fatal over-
dose. Patrol deputies may also recom-
mend assistance for citizens they come in
contact with who display signs and
symptoms of mental illness. The BHIT is
a significant investment of resources, but
it reflects the deliberate choice to front-
load effort to protect and serve all mem-
bers of the community in all circum-
stances and achieve the best possible
long-term outcomes.
The BHIT has already seen success in
the field when working with citizens in
need. We believe that this success will
continue to grow as these citizens in
need begin to understand that we are
there to assist them in getting the ser-
vices that they need to help them func-
tion in life and not commit crimes that
can land them in jail.
