We encourage everyone to visit the Springdale Public Library and celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month by registering for the most important school supply of all - a library card. During the month of September, anyone who gets a new library card or updates their contact information will receive one coupon good for one selection from Friends of the Library Annual Fall Book Sale. New / updated patrons’ names will also be entered into a raffle for a free signed copy of a book by a local Northwest Arkansas author! A former teacher, university administrator, consultant and award- winning author of more than forty works of poetry, nonfiction, and children's literature, Pat Mora is also the founder of the family literacy initiative El día de los niños / El día de los libros (Children's Day / Book Day). Hispanic Heritage Month is observed from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15. This national initiative celebrates the histories, cultures, and contributions of American citizens of Spanish, Mexican, Caribbean,

and Central and South American descent.

Join us on Oct. 11, 4:00—6:00 to celebrate with a special story time featuring award-winning author and literacy activist Pat Mora!

Sept. 8 : The Hunger Games: The Movie (Shiloh Room) Stop by the Library to pick up your ticket to this free movie screening. Seating is limited, so don’t delay! Tickets will be available Friday, Aug. 31.

Sept. 22: Duct Tape Crafts It really can do everything! We’ll start by making duct tape cell phone cases, and then try our hand at more complicated creations.

Oct. 13: Teen Read Week: ―It Came from the Library‖ To celebrate Teen Read Week 2012, we’ll read and discuss the book This Dark Endeavor by Kenneth Oppel. Stop by the Library to pick up a copy—we’ll have several available by Saturday, Sept. 13.

Oct. 27: Friends of the Library Author Fair Don’t forget to visit the Springdale Public Library Author Fair from 2:00 to 4:00 pm! Several local writers and illustrators will visit the Library to sign and discuss their work.

Nov. 3: International Games Day Come celebrate International Games Day with on– and offline games, including several new board games donated by IGD sponsors.
