St. Padre Pio Relics Visit Chicago Sept. 25-26, 2017
Join St. Francis Borgia and St. Ita Parishes inwelcoming official relics of St. Pio of Pietrelcina — commonly known as Padre Pio — Sept. 25-26. On Sept. 25 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. the relics, which include a lock of his hair, blood from his wounds, a glove used to cover his stigmatized hands and part of his religious habit, will be on display at St. Francis Borgia Church, 8033 W. Addison St. Chicago, IL 60634. A multilingual Mass with Bishop John Manz will take place at 7 p.m. On Sept. 26, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. relics will be available for veneration at St. Ita Church, 1220 W. Catalpa Ave. Chicago, IL 60640. Bishop Joseph Perry will celebrate Mass at 7 p.m. These relics are part of a national tour marking the 130th anniversary of Padre Pio’s birth, and the 15th anniversary of his canonization. El día 29 del mes de septiembre, se recuerda de manera especial a los Arcángeles San Miguel, San Gabriel y San Rafael. Los ángeles son una verdad de fe según el catecismo. Desde esta tierra, la vida cristiana participa, por la fe, en la sociedad bienaventurada de los ángeles y de los hombres, unidos en Dios. Según la Escritura, los ángeles son mensajeros de Dios, “poderosos ejecutores de sus órdenes, prontos a la voz de su palabra” (Sal 103,20), al servicio de su plan de salvación, “enviados para servir a los que deben heredar la salvación” (Heb. 1,14).
San Miguel Este nombre significa: “¿Quién como Dios?” o “Nadie es como Dios”. La Iglesia Católica ha tenido siempre una gran devoción al Arcángel San Miguel, especialmente para pedirle que nos libre de los ataques del demonio y de los espíritus infernales. Y él cuando lo invocamos llega a defendernos, con el gran poder que Dios le ha concedido. Oración: San Miguel Arcángel, defiéndenos en la batalla: sé nuestra protección contra la perversidad y las acechanzas del demonio. Reprímale Dios, pedimos suplicantes y tú, oh Príncipe de la Milicia Celestial, arroja al infierno a Satanás y a los otros espíritus malignos que andan dispersos por el mundo, para la perdición de las almas. Fue el Arcángel enviado por Dios para quitarle la ceguera a Tobías y acompañar al hijo de este en un larguísimo y peligroso viaje y conseguirle una santa esposa. San Rafael es muy invocado para alejar enfermedades y lograr terminar felizmente los viajes. Oración: Arcángel San Rafael, que dijiste: «Bendecid a Dios todos los días y proclamad sus beneficios. Practicad el bien y no tropezaréis en el mal. Buena es la oración con ayuno, y hacer limosna mejor que atesorar oro», te suplico me acompañes en todos mis caminos y me alcances gracias para seguir tus consejos. Amén.

A Life Chain is a peaceful – prayerful public witness for our nation to end legalized abortion in our country. It is a visual statement of solidarity by participants who oppose abortion. About seven neighboring parishes will participate again this year: St. Ansgar, St. Hubert, St. John the Evangelist, St. Marcelline, St. Mathew, St. Peter Damian and Church of the Holy Spirit. Annually, on the first Sunday in October, National Life Chain invites Christians in every town across America to stand along streets, hold inoffensive signs opposing abortion, while praying for about one hour. It is time we stand up for children. Plan to gather in the corner of East Ave. & Irving Park Rd. at 2:30, select a sign of your choice, and walk to our designated location along Irving Park Road. We will be there until 4:00PM. Invite your family members, relatives and friends to join. Bring along a lawn chair for comfort. As in the past all are invited back to St. Ansgar’s Meeting hall for coffee, hot chocolate, and numerous treats. This is a wonderful time.
