Holy Week
This Sunday is Passion Sunday, a day that commemorates the entrance of Jesus
into Jerusalem and the beginning of His passion, death and resurrection. Holy Week
is the most solemn week in the liturgical year. The liturgies of Holy Week are
powerful and beautiful. Please make an effort to participate in as many Holy Week
liturgies as you can. The schedule is as follows:
Thurs., Mar. 29 is Holy Thursday. The only Mass that will be celebrated that day is
the Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7 p.m. This beautiful liturgy commemorates the
Lord’s last supper with His disciples and the institution of the Eucharist. Following
Mass, the Blessed Sacrament will be taken to Our Lady of Mercy Chapel. You are
invited to come and spend some time in prayer and meditation until Midnight.
Fri., Mar. 30 is Good Friday. It is a day of fasting and abstinence. No Mass is
celebrated on Good Friday. The Liturgy of the Passion begins at Noon. It includes the
reading of The Passion, the veneration of the cross and the distribution of Holy
Communion. There will be an opportunity for silent prayer in the church from 1 until
3 p.m. Confessions will be available from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the chapel. At 3 p.m.,
there will be Stations of the Cross in the church. After that, nothing takes place until
Saturday night. This time recalls the hours and days that Jesus spent in the tomb.
On Holy Saturday, Mar. 31, the Easter Vigil Mass will begin at 8:30 p.m. This is the
most solemn and beautiful liturgy that the Church celebrates. At this Mass, those
adults who have been preparing for the Sacraments of Initiation will be baptized,
confirmed and will receive the Eucharist for the first time. There is no other Mass
and no Confessions are heard on Holy Saturday.
On Easter Sunday, Apr. 1, Masses will be at 8 a.m., 10:30 a.m. & 12:30 p.m. in the
church, and 10:40 a.m. in Visitation Hall.
May you have a very happy and blessed Holy Week and Easter.
Sincerely Yours in Christ,
M

Spotlight on Stewardship
Helping Hands
Will you answer the call to be a Good Samaritan? In the
parable, Jesus tells us you should love your neighbor as
yourself. The Helping Hands Ministry demonstrates this
teaching perfectly! It is a ministry for anyone with a
current driver’s license and proof of automobile
insurance, who would be able to provide transportation to
and from Mass for St. Anne parishioners who may not be
able to drive themselves. We are currently seeking a new
leader for this ministry as well as more Helping Hands
ministers. If you are willing to step up and serve your
neighbor, please contact Kimberly Kaup in the parish
office at 706-561-8678. Ministers must be VIRTUS
trained.

Throughout Lent, St. Anne-Pacelli students
in grades 6-12 visited St. Anne Church
each Friday to pray the Stations of the
Cross as a group.
