Message from Fr. Dariusz Welcome to St. Ambrose—we are so happy that you could join us today to celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. God sustained the people of Israel for forty years in the desert with manna sent down from heaven, and Moses doesn’t want them to forget it. God brought forth water from stone for them to drink, and Moses doesn’t want them to forget this, either. And Moses tells them—twice—that the food that God sent was a food that neither they nor their ancestors before them had ever experienced before. Jesus too speaks of food come down from heaven, food that the Jewish people had never experienced before. Recalling the manna in the desert, Jesus doesn’t want them to forget it either, explaining that he is the food and drink of eternal life. And Paul reiterates to the Corinthians and to all of us that in the bread and in the cup, we share in the body and blood of Christ.

Have a wonderful week—stay well. Please keep me in your prayers as you all are always in mine.

PASTOR’S MUSINGS A little girl was sitting on her grandfather's lap as he read her a bedtime story. From time to time, she would take her eyes off the book and reach up to touch his wrinkled cheek. She was alternately stroking her own cheek, then his again. Finally, she spoke up, "Grandpa, did God make you?" "Yes, sweetheart," he answered, "God made me a long time ago" "Oh," she paused, "Grandpa, did God make me too?" "Yes, indeed, honey," he said, "God made you just a little while ago." Feeling their respective faces again, she observed, "God's getting better at it, isn't he?"

Knights of Columbus Promote Silver Rose in Honor of Life and Our Lady of Guadalupe

A silver rose on a nine-month pilgrimage will be the centerpiece of a Mass and special prayer service at 11 a.m. Monday, June 29, at St. Ambrose Church. The devotion is promoted by Knights of Columbus Council 4955 to honor Our Lady of Guadalupe and express both international unity and dedication to the sanctity of human life. The journey of the silver rose begins each year in March and ends on Dec. 12, the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. During that time, Silver Roses travel from town to town along eight routes throughout North America. Several of those routes begin in Canada and end in Mexico. One route ends in Washington, D.C., and another ends at St. Mary’s Church in New Haven, CT, where the Knights of Columbus was founded. The Silver Rose Program began in 1960. Today, due to the popularity of the program throughout North America, eight silver roses travel unique routes. “As we think in terms of One Life, One Rose, it is most appropriate that we turn to Our Lady of Guadalupe who made known her will through Juan Diego and the miracle of the roses,” said Supreme Knight Carl Anderson. “It is to the Blessed Mother that we turn in prayer as we work to end the Culture of Death that grips our society.” Council 4955 is one of 17,000 Knights of Columbus councils that make up the world’s largest Catholic fraternal service organization. Founded in 1882 to assist working-class and immigrant Catholics in the United States, today the approximately two million members of the Knights put their faith into action through a broad range of charitable causes locally, nationally and internationally through financial contributions and hands-on service.
