Ministry gathers us and makes us a faith family... 17th Sunday In Ordinary Time: Jesus is describing God’s immeasurable generosity when He says in today’s Gospel, “Whoever asks, receives; whoever seeks, finds; whoever knocks, is admitted.” But it should also be the description of us as Christian stewards — those seeking to follow Christ by using our gifts in service to others. - Luke 11:10

HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT OF BECOMING A PRIEST? Visit: www.lavocations.org
Dear parishioners, Today, outside of Church there is a table to sign postcards addressed to our state legislators in opposition to SB-131. Please support all
victims of abuse as well as fundamentals fairness. We are looking for volunteers for Children’s Liturgy. It’s not difficult. All you need is to share your love for God, and share it for 15 minutes with our kids during the 9 am Mass. I am relying on the Word of the Lord for this! “For every-one who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” Pleased consider helping. The Lord needs you. Thanks to all who made Vacation Bibles School a success! Have a wonderful week. Devotedly, Fr. Gabe
The Family Visitation Ministry offers spiritual support to those in need. Please call Sr. Teresita at 310-216-2001, or the Rectory Office at 310-670-2243.
Reflection on Today’s Readings: FOCUS: Be persistent in prayer and nag if you must; God hears you every time. The truth of today’s psalm. Lord, on the day I called for help, you answered me, may not always be apparent. There are times when we pray and it seems that God is either not listening or is unwilling to gives us what we want. The Scriptures tells us to be persistent and to keep praying; that in God’s time our prayers are always answered.
LITURGY OF THE WORD: Abraham asks God to spare Sodom and Gomorrah if he can find some innocent people and God agrees—five times! Abraham’s prayer was answered, yet he wanted a little more. Jesus tells His disciples that they must ask the Father for their needs and be persistent in their prayers. He tells them—and us—to ask in order to receive.

MONDAY MORNING PRAYER AND ADORATION
♦Consider this a personal invitation to come and join us as we pray the Novena
in Honor of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. This prayer time is immediately following the 8:00AM Mass and will help you keep prayer front and center in your life. As St. Paul said in his letter to the Colossians ; "Pray without ceasing, be attentive to prayer and pray in a spirit of thanksgiving." We believe that a parish is an authentic community only when it sticks together all week long-after the Mass has ended-by living the gospel through daily prayer, mutual support, and loving service to all those in need. This is the goal of our praying the Novena and singing praises to the Lord and His Blessed Mother, and we're sure it's your goal as well. Come pray with us!

Ministry in Community …
Never leave your children in a hot car - Did you know that it only takes 10 minutes for a car to heat up by 19 degrees? Every so often we hear news
stories of parents forgetting infants or leaving a sleeping toddler in the car, and tragedies that ensue. Never leave a child alone in a car, even for a minute. Degrees can be deceiving. Fatalities can occur at temperatures as low as the mid-50s because a vehicle heats up so quickly. Children are at a great risk for heat stroke because their bodies heat up three to five times faster than an adult's does. Cracking a window? Not a solution. Some advanced technolo-gies are still being developed that may help prevent heat stroke deaths in vehicles, but nothing has been proven effective yet. For more information visit, http://www.care.com/child-care-summer-safety-tips-a-guide-to-protecting-kids-when-activities-heat-up-p1017-q6731064.html. For particular help, you may call Assistance Ministry at (213) 637-7650.

AN AMAZING JOURNEY OF FAITH- FOR YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW
Are thinking about becoming a Catholic? Do you know someone who might be thinking about becoming a Catholic? Here is the chance to invite that special someone to an informal gathering to share and question whether or not the time is right for them to pursue becoming a Catholic. The process is called RCIA, the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. This is the process through which adults are fully initiated into the Catholic faith community. We become a member of the Catholic faith by truly experiencing the life, the self-understanding, and the activities of the community itself. Please consider experiencing this process or inviting someone to join us for this amazing journey of faith. We begin
with an informal gathering on Thursday evening September 5th at 7:30 PM.

IMAGINE: THANK YOU VBS TEACHERS & VOLUNTEERS! Who could have imagined the impact Vacation Bible School has had on our parish, our community and especially our young children. This year was no different and it really was a “Rip, Roadin RoundUp” at St. A’s. More importantly it was a great, great experience because of the volunteers who made it so special. We all realize the fun our campers have learning to trust in Jesus and singing at the top of the their lungs, but did you ever think about the 17 youth volunteers who came for service hours, but stayed for the pure joy of helping younger students? We want all of you to know how much we appreciate not only our teachers but the youth volunteers. VBS offers a special opportunity to deepen relationships and apply what we are learning about God and life-changing lessons we find in His Word. The effect our young leaders have made on the lives of our kids and community is truly a gift. I wish I could list EACH of you by NAME but you know who you are! I can’t wait to work with you again! Mrs. Mauch
