2020 Bishop’s Lenten Appeal: Steadfast in Faith and Joyful in Hope The Bishop’s Lenten Appeal is critical to our diocesan needs and we are asking every household in our parish to support this appeal to the extent that they are able. The BLA funds many programs, services and ministries that serve people in need and furthers the Gospel mission of Jesus Christ in our diocese. Baptism: A baptismal date will be scheduled when all required paperwork is completed and received by the Parish Office. All paperwork must be received in the Parish Office at least one week prior to the intended Baptism date. The baptism booklet and form are found on our website (st-andrew.org) under the “Sacramental” tab.

Sponsor Class: All parents and ALL those asked to be Godparents or Confirmation Sponsors are required to attend a preparation class within the past 2 years. If you attend a class at another parish, be sure to request a class attendance letter. You will need to present that letter when you request your sponsor eligibility letter from St. Andrews.

Our next class is Friday, March 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the Padre Pio Room.

Annual Mass and Anointing of the Sick

March 28 On Saturday, March 28 at 11 a.m. at Saint Am-brose Catholic Church, The Order of Malta, Northern Virgin-ia Region (Federal Association USA) will host a special Mass and Anointing of the Sick for the faithful of the Catho-lic Diocese of Arlington. Please arrive by 10:30 a.m. to se-cure parking and seating for the Mass. The Most Reverend Michael F. Burbidge, Bishop of Arlington, will serve as the principal celebrant for the Mass. A free luncheon for all at-tendees will be hosted by the Order at the conclusion of the Mass. Womens' Lenten Holy Hour - March 3 All women of the parish are invited to join the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary for a Lenten Holy Hour on Tuesday, March 3rd, from 8-9 pm, in the Holy Family Chapel. Father Wagner will lead us through prayers, hymns, the holy rosary and silent adoration.

St. Andrew’s Women’s’ Day of Recollection All women of the parish are invited to join the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary for a day of recollection as we learn about Saint Faustina, the Apostle of Divine Mercy, “Jesus I Trust In You”.

Father Bresnahan will lead the retreat to be held at the Franciscan Monastery in Washington, DC from 9:30 am - 4:00 pm. We will carpool from the church at 8:30 am and return for the 5:30 pm Vigil Mass. The cost is $15.00 to cover morning refreshments and lunch. More details to follow. Scout Sunday Mass - March 15 Scout Sunday Mass which will be celebrated at the 8:45 Mass on Sunday, March 15. All scouts are wel-come! Go Forth: Called & Chosen Event for 8th graders

March 9

All 8th graders of the diocese are invited to the Go Forth: Called & Chosen event with Bishop Burbidge on Monday, March 9 at All Saints Catholic Church. The program begins at 10 a.m. and includes a vocations rally, Mass, and lunch, and concludes by 1:30 p.m. All 8th graders must be accompanied by an adult; space is limited to 8th graders and their chaperones.

Please arrive early so all can be seated before 10 a.m.

Quo Vadis and FIAT Camps

Registration Lottery Opens

March 3 Quo Vadis Days and FIAT Camps are great opportunities for Catholic high school students (rising freshmen through rising seniors) to have fun while deepen-ing their faith and exploring their voca-tions. Quo Vadis (for boys) is staffed by Arlington seminarians, priests and religious, and runs July 12-16.

FIAT (for girls) is staffed by religious sisters runs July 19-23. Both are held at Mount St. Mary's Seminary in Emmits-burg, MD. The registration lottery will be open March 3-31.

40 Cans for Lent The Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Charities St. Lucy Project Warehouse are asking parish households to participate in the “40 Cans for Lent” food drive. The goal is very simple: to have each household contribute one non-perishable canned food item for each of the forty days of Lent (40 Cans for Lent).

Please bring 40 canned food items to the church during Lent, whether it be all at once, or little by little, and place your donations in the bins at the entrances of the church or in the vestibule. No expired items please.

Most needed items are: canned fruits, vegetables, meat products, boxed cereals and pastas (green beans and soups are not needed).

If you wish to donate $40 for Lent instead, please make your check payable to the Catholic Charity St. Lucy Project Warehouse, and contact Alvaro Rodriguez at [email protected] to arrange for pick-up. You may also leave your check at the Parish Office. Thank you!

Local Musicians Lead Praise and Worship Join us for prayer, praise and worship on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at St. Leo Catholic Church in Fairfax from 7:30-8:30 p.m. The Holy Hour on Tuesday, March 10, will feature Michelle Jacobeen.
