St. Ann Parish Mission Statement We are called by a loving God
to make St. Ann of Lansing a Catholic community of faith. We are a family of diverse people with various ministries: healing the body and spirit, teaching of God and His love,
united in sacraments and prayer, reaching out to the extended community. With God’s revelation of Himself in Scripture as our guide,
we strive to grow in His Spirit and to fulfill the promise of Christ’s Kingdom.

THE EPIPHANY OF THE LORD January 8, 2012
All kings shall pay him homage, all nations shall serve him.
— Psalm 72:11
4
Today is the Celebration of the Epiphany of the Lord, Three Kings. This coming week is national Vocation Awareness Week. Pray that those who are called will answer the call to serve.
Thanks to Helen who shared this poem with us.
WHAT COUNTS (Author Unknown)
It isn’t the things you talk about, No matter how fine and true;
It isn’t the way you seem to live Nor even the things you do,
It isn’t the creed you call your own, Nor the mottos on the wall;
The only thing that really counts Is what’s in you heart – that’s all? It isn’t the many friends you make,
It’s only the friends you keep; It isn’t you, that people see, It’s the real you down deep;
It isn’t what people say you are, Just let them talk as they please;
It’s what you know you are inside, What counts is what God sees.
Thanks for sharing this powerful poem with all of us. We all need to work on what is inside, and that is what God sees. Keep each other in prayer, and nurture all that you are and all you can be. Have a great week filled with good things.
Welcome Cardinal George! We are so glad you have come to share the 10:30 a.m. Mass with all of us.

Monday Morning Sacristans
Have you thought about some quiet way you can serve God and our Parish?
There are four teams of two people who take turns once every four weeks washing and ironing the purifacators used at Mass. We need two more
people to help complete this task.
If you have an interest in helping, please call Gerrie Szewczyk at 474-9257. Thank you!
Pot of Gold, 2012!
Tickets for our March 17 drawing are now available after all Masses and in the Parish Office!
Only 1,000 tickets will be sold, and the early bird drawing will take place on Super Bowl Sunday.
If you can help with ticket sales before and after Masses, please call the Parish Office at 895-6700.

January 7-8, 2012 Dear Friends,
Happy new year to all of our parishion-ers, families, and friends. Our theme for 2012 is: "INTO TRUTH WE DELVE IN 2012." As we study the Holy Bible, Mathematics, Social Studies, Literature, and Science, we are called to search for the Truth which is given to us by God. We are striving to be more truthful, more honest, and more sincere this year.
We welcome Francis Cardinal George to our parish today. Our fourth grade students have been preparing the readings, peti-tions, and music for today - The Feast of the Epiphany. As the Three Kings brought gifts to the Christ Child, the Cardinal brings his PRESENCE to us today.
Since returning to school, we have been busy preparing for CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK, January 29-February 4, 2012. This year's theme is CATHOLIC SCHOOLS: Faith, Academ-ics and Service. We will try to excel in all of these vital areas. Father Bill and I will be inviting our Parish Religious Educa-tion families to attend our Open Houses on Sunday, January 29 or on Wednesday, February 1, 2012. We are prepared to offer them great opportunities and assistance if they choose our Par-ish School for their children. St. Ann is an excellent, safe, and joyful place in which to teach and to learn. Please encourage your neighbors and friends to come see our new technology, our SuperKids Reading Program, and our science lab. Our Preschool is the BEST in Lansing, and actually has a waiting list for this current year. Register early for the 2012-2013 school year.
Our Student Council will be seeing their work come to fruition, as the new Church/School Sign for the corner of Ridge and Chicago has been ordered. We are all excited about finally seeing this project, begun by the Class of 2011, become reality.
Shortly before Christmas, representatives from the Knights of Columbus visited St. Ann and gave awards to the following eighth graders: 3rd Place: Thomas Kotel and Guadalupe Pi-mentel; 2nd Place: Brittanny Jurek; and 1st Place: Lily Leopardo. The 8th grade class wrote on "The Responsibility of the Catholic Citizen in a Free Society." We thank the Knights, and we congratulate Mrs. Hall and the 8th grade class.
GOLDEN GARBAGE NEWS: We were happy to receive checks in the mail over the holidays. We received $220.83 from AbiBow Paper Recycling, $336.93 from Beggars Pizza, and a whopping $1,561.90 from the General Mills Box Tops for Education collections, organized by Rosemary Duda. Stu-dents who won $25 Target cards for their Box Tops donations were John Scheppe and Mia Dabrowski. Keep saving all of your newspapers, junk mail, and Box Tops. As you can see, they add up and all proceeds go toward our school subsidy . . . the more we raise, the less the parish has to help us!
Thank you to all who supported our Christmas Wreath sale. Our profit was $1,700, and we appreciate the work of Mary Wegrzyn and her "elves" on this project.
S]out Sun^[y February 5, 2012 10:30 a.m. Mass
