Dear Parishioner of St. Ann’s

We are living in difficult times. To say

that we are challenged by a world-wide pan-

demic is an understatement.

It is not just South Peabody that is suf-

fering the consequences of the limitations of

movement. Yet, for us, the neighborhood is

what matters.

The church is the center of our little

neighborhoods.

Maybe, for a while we won’t be able to

gather here in large numbers, yet, we still have

our many memories of celebrations that

brought families together.

And it will resume...

We have that inner sense that the

church will weather the storm, and we will rise

more joyful than ever, once the Coronavirus

has been brought under control.

St. Ann’s still needs your prayers and

your financial support. I will do my best, helped

out by the Finance Committee, to economize

during the time that the church is not fully

utilized.

Support envelopes can be mailed or can

be dropped at the parish office or through the

mail slot at the rectory.

As always I ask for God’s blessing upon

you and upon your families that you be pro-

tected and that your health be sustained.

Sincerely,

Father Stanley

and the Finance Committee.

Lord, Hear Our Prayer

LITURGY CORNER

Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time Zechariah 9:9-10

Trusting in Humility The dream for world peace ever stirs the heart of humanity. Imagine a world where nations stopped their aggression, where terrorists laid down their weapons of mass destruction, and where nations respected one another’s territories and customs. Closer to home, imagine a neighborhood where people got along, where diversity was treasured, and violence was no more. We all long for the security that comes from peace. Many nations, however, still hold that peace comes from a well-built arsenal. Leaders believe that a strong defense inhibits aggression and causes the desired peace. But the prophet Zechariah envisions another kind of leader. He sees one who is just, who rescues people from their oppression. Meek, he rides a simple beast of burden, and yet his dominion ex-tends all across the world. This leader accom-plishes the desired gift of peace not from weap-ons, not from intimidation, but from the example of humility. Our leaders will continue to put their trust in weapons as long as we do too. If we live in trust, we can build a place where peace will reign from sea to sea. Imagine the world at peace. Imagine it starting with you. Written by Paul Turner. Copyright © 2010, Resource Publications, Inc., 888-273-7782, www.rpinet.com. All rights reserved.
