Dear Sisters and Brothers, This is most unusual year for all of us, tragic for many, confusing for children who depending on their age may understand only to a degree what is happening, specially that, even for us adults it’s not so easy to grasp it all. As a country we surpassed 70,000 casualties from the virus, and more are happening every day and we are even not surprised by the numbers anymore. It is sad, but it is true that we got used to hear those new with some degree of helplessness. Only thing we do to change it daily, is to raise our minds and hearts to God in prayer for relief: of the suffering for the sick, for consolation to those that lost their loved ones, for eternal life for those who passed away, for strength for those who work at the front lines of the fight, that is the doctors, nurses, health
care givers, essential workers, first responders.
We pray for: solution to this pandemic, cure to the disease; end of the lockdown. We pray for return: to work, to school, to church, to somewhat normal rhythm of life where people and family can meet, and share in joys and sorrows of life. We pray for return to what we consider normal, usual, something that may be so simple as meet-ing friends and family for a meal, talk, company. We pray for an end to suspicion, that the coming person may bring us the deadly disease. We pray for the freedom from the fear and panic of sickness and of unemployment, from fear and helplessness. We continue to observe the social distancing, we need to wear masks to be able to meet others, or when we need to come together for some essential business in order to eradicate the disease.
Hopefully soon we will start gathering in the church for Masses and prayer, even if we were to wear the masks and keep reasona-ble number of people in the church, by families staying together in the benches distanced from other families. Somehow we need to learn to live in a new way, to protect ourselves from sickness and to function in the way that supports our life.
It is hard to believe that we will celebrate the Mother’s Day this Sunday, and it is going to be a low key externally event. Even in families we can not make it the way it was, with friends and everyone gathering and celebrating our moms, in gratitude for the life and love that they give us, and for the whole meaning that they bring to family life. We remember last year with Reina and her helpers, making those beautiful flower arrangements that everyone would bring to their moms. Husbands and dads buying flowers for their wives, in gratitude for their children brought into the world by their loving companions for life. All family parties and barbecues, family participation at Mass and breakfast at home or out.
Is it all too much to ask? Surely not, yet we are so far from the normal. God help us with it all ! It’s so much out of our control. Let’s do what we can to make it normal again, to make it a new normal with appreciation of all things, that we may have taken for granted until now. It will never be the way it was, our lives surely will be changed by the experience we live. Let’s change them for the better. Let’s appreciate each other more, let’s appreciate our family more, let’s appreciate our friendships more, let’s appreciate our community our parish more. Let’s appreciate life as God given gift more. In mean time, let’s do what we can to improve it, to better it for ourselves and for others.
As you know we celebrate Masses daily for the intentions requested by you, and for all of you. You all are included in our prayers every day. We celebrate the Masses in private in the chapel by the office. On weekends we celebrate Masses that are transmitted on Facebook and YouTube thanks to Deacon Andres, whom you don’t see on the altar, but he is at every transmitted Mass to provide technical support. We have only necessary number of people at Masses, to keep the restrictions imposed on us by the state, so don’t feel bad that you are not there. We tried to keep it simple to avoid contamination and closing of the church and office.
As you know, we are trying to help those in need by providing some food through our Outreach. With limited number of volunteers, we are trying to do what we can and we never stopped operating in our Outreach. However! I don’t know if you can imagine, but in this last week for example we had 102 Cars totaling 400 family members, on Thursday, 91 Cars totaling 350 fami-ly members on Monday and 70 Cars equaling 300 family members on Tuesday, that we helped with food. It looks like a drive through for Fast food line, that extends through the length of our parking lot. What we give is what we are given by agencies of Long Island Harvest and Long Island Cares, Catholic Charity, and your parishioners and friends, who contribute food donations and money to our Outreach Program. We bought thousands of dollars of food literally. Last Saturday I bought $800 of peanut butter in Costco, it was 180 jars that are not enough even for a week, as we try to put it in every box of food. I don’t talk about the jelly, rice, beans, pasta, soups, articles of hygiene. We got plenty of food donations from many of you and friends. It all comes in one door and goes out the other. I hope we helped those who need it most. If you know people who struggle with food, send them to us and we will share what we have. I am thinking of doing it only twice a week on Monday and Thursday 9:00 to 1:00pm, as it is difficult to prepare for two days in a row, with those numbers of people coming. The stores are not too friendly when we go and buy too much food at one time from them. In the end we are not the only people helping others. On Saturdays at 11:00 to 12:00 our Hospitality Too Soup Kitchen gives packages of food to go in the back of the church. PRONTO, where Esperanza works gives as well food assistance Monday to Saturday 9:00 A.M. TO 2:00 P.M. at 128 Pine Aire Drive, Bay Shore.

Queridas Hermanas y Hermanos, Este es el año mas inusual para todos nosotros, trágico, para muchos, confuso para los niños que dependiendo de la edad, pueden entender solo hasta cierto punto lo que esta sucediendo, especialmente incluso para nosotros, los adultos, no es tan fácil entenderlo del todo. Como país, rebasamos las 70,000 victimas del virus, y cada dia suceden mas, y las cifras ya no nos sorprenden. Es triste, pero es cierto que nos acostumbramos a escuchar esas noticias con cierto grado de impotencia. Lo único que hacemos para cambiarlo a diario es elevar nuestras mentes y corazones a Dios en oración por alivio: del sufrimiento por los enfermos, para consolar a los que perdieron a sus seres queridos, por la vida eterna de los que fallecieron, por fortaleza para quienes traba-
jan en primera línea en la lucha, es decir los médicos, enfermeras, cuidadores de la salud, trabajadores esenciales, socorristas. Oramos por: solución a esta pandemia, cura a la enfermedad; Fin del encierro. Oramos por el regreso: al trabajo, a la Escuela, a la Iglesia, a un ritmo de vida algo normal donde las personas y la familia puedan encontrarse y compartir alegrías y penas de la vida. Oramos por volver a lo que consideramos normal, habitual, algo que puede ser tan simple como reunirse con amigos y familiares para una comida, charla o compañía. Oramos para detener esta sospecha, para que la persona que viene pueda traernos la enferme-dad mortal. Oramos por la libertad del miedo y el pánico de la enfermedad y del desempleo, del miedo y la impotencia. Continua-mos observando el distanciamiento social, necesitamos usar mascaras para poder conocer a otros, o cuando necesitamos unirnos para algún negocio esencial para erradicar la enfermedad. Esperemos que pronto comencemos a reunirnos en la iglesia para las misas y oraciones, incluso si usaramos las mascaras y mantuviéramos un numero razonable de personas en la iglesia, por familias que permanecen juntas en los bancos alejados de otras familias. De alguna manera, necesitamos aprender a vivir de una nueva manera, protegernos de la enfermedad y funcionar de la manera que sustenta nuestra vida. Es difícil creer que celebraremos el Dia de la Madres este próximo Domingo, y será un evento externo de muy bajo perfil. Incluso en familia no podemos hacerlo como era, con amigos y todos reunido y celebrando a nuestras madres, en agradecimiento por la vida y el amor que nos dan, y por todo el significado que le dan a la vida familiar. Recordemos los últimos años con Reina y los integrantes del grupo del oración, haciendo esos hermosos arreglos florales que todos llevaron a sus madres. Esposos y Padres que compraron flores para sus esposas, en agradecimiento por sus hijos traídos al mundo por sus amantes compañeros de por vida. Todas las fiestas familiares y barbacoas, participación familiar en misa y desayuno en casa o fuera. ¿Es demasiado pedir? Seguramente no, sin embargo, estamos muy lejos de lo normal. ¡Dios nos ayude con todo! Esta muy fuera de nuestro control. Hagamos lo que podamos para que sea normal nuevamente, para que sea una nueva normalidad con la apreciación de todas las cosas, que podemos haber dado por sentado hasta ahora. Nunca será como fue, nuestras vidas serán cambiadas por la experiencia que vivimos. Vamos a cambiarlos para una mejoría. Abrazemonos mas, apreciemos mas a nuestra familia, apreciemos mas a nuestras amistades, apreciemos mas a nuestra comunidad nuestra parroquia. Apreciemos la vida como un regalo que Dios nos dio. Mientras tanto, hagamos lo que podamos para mejorarlo, para nosotros y para los demás. Como saben, celebramos Misas diariamente por las intenciones solicitadas por ustedes y por todos los feligreses. Todos ustedes están incluidos en nuestras oraciones todos los días. Celebramos las Misas en privado en la capilla junto a la oficina. Los fines de semana celebramos Misas que se están transmitiendo por Facebook y YouTube gracias al Diacono Andres, a quien no se le ve en el altar, pero el esta en cada una de la misa que son transmitida para brindar apoyo técnico. Solo tenemos la cantidad necesaria de personas en las Misas, para mantener las restricciones que nos impone el estado, asi que no se sientan mal de que ustedes no estén allí. Tratamos de mantenerlo los mas simple posible para evitar la contaminación y el cierre de la iglesia y la oficina. Como saben, estamos tratando de ayudar a los mas necesitados al proporcionarles alimentos a través de nuestra oficina de Alcance. Con un numero limitado de voluntarios, estamos tratando de hacer lo que podemos y nunca dejamos de operar en nuestra oficina de Alcance. No se si se lo pueden imaginar, pero en esta ultima semana, por ejemplo, tuvimos 102 familias el Jueves, 91 el Lunes y 70 el Martes, que ayudamos con la comida. Parece un recorrido por la línea de alimentos, que puede extenderse a lo largo de nuestro estacionamiento. Lo que damos es lo que nos dan las agencias de Long Island Harvest, Long Island Cares, y también Católica Charity, y ustedes, feligreses y amigos, que contribuyen con donaciones de alimentos y dinero a nuestro programa de distribución . Estoy pensando en hacerlo solo dos veces por semana los Lunes y Jueves de 9:00 hasta la 1:00pm, ya que es difícil prepararse para dos días seguidos, con esa cantidad de personas que vienen. Las tiendas no son muy amigables cuando vamos y les compramos muchas comida a la vez. Al final, no somos los únicas personas que están ayudando a los demás. Los Sábados de 11:00 hasta la 12:00 pm nuestra Soup Kitchen entrega paquetes de comida para llevar en la parte posterior de la iglesia. Pronto, donde trabaja Esperanza, también brinda asistencia alimenticia de Lunes a Sábado ellos están localizado en la calle de Pine Air Drive después de cruzar la 5th Avenida. LE MOIS DE MAI 2020 Chers frères et sœurs,
Le mois de mai est désormais tout proche, mois où le peuple de Dieu exprime avec une particulière intensité son amour et sa dévotion pour la Vierge Marie. Il est de tradition, en ce mois, de prier le Rosaire à la maison, en famille. Une dimension, la dimension domestique, que les restrictions de la pandémie nous ont “contraints” à valoriser, également du point de
vue spirituel. J’ai donc pensé proposer à tous de redécouvrir la beauté de prier le Rosaire à la maison pendant le mois de mai. On peut le faire ensemble ou personnellement ; c’est à vous de
choisir selon les situations, en évaluant les deux possibilités. Mais, de toute manière, il y a un secret pour le faire : la simplicité ; et il est facile de trouver, aussi sur internet, de bons
modèles de prières à suivre. De plus, je vous offre les textes de deux prières à la Vierge que vous pourrez réciter à la fin du Rosaire, et que je réciterai moi-même pendant le mois de mai, uni à vous spirituellement.
Je les joins à cette lettre de sorte qu’elles soient mises à la disposition de tous. Chers frères et sœurs, contempler ensemble le visage du Christ avec le cœur de Marie, notre
Mère, nous rendra encore plus unis comme famille spirituelle et nous aidera à surmonter cette épreuve. Je prierai pour vous, spécialement pour ceux qui souffrent le plus, et vous, s’il vous

Prière à Marie O Marie, tu resplendis toujours sur notre chemin comme signe de salut et d’espérance. Nous nous confions à toi, Santé des malades, qui, auprès de la croix, as été associée à la douleur de Jésus, en maintenant ta foi ferme. Toi, Salut du peuple romain, tu sais de quoi nous avons besoin et nous sommes certains que tu veilleras afin que, comme à Cana de Galilée, puissent revenir la joie et la fête après ce moment d’épreuve. Aide-nous, Mère du Divin Amour, à nous conformer à la volonté du Père et à faire ce que nous dira Jésus, qui a pris sur lui nos souffrances et s’est chargé de nos douleurs pour nous conduire, à travers la croix, à la joie de la résurrection. HOSPITALITY TOO! Saturday morning Soup Kitchen is still closed but their are volunteers who put together package food in bags and distribute the food on
Saturdays only from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
People start lining up early on the side of the church and the food is
picked up out the back doors of the church. No one is to wait in the
church and must remain 6ft distance while waiting on the line.
Looking for volunteers who are available during the day and would be willing to come pick up a box of food and deliver it to someone who does not drive, or does not have a car or worse, is sick and has the Virus. No contact simple drop off on the front stoop no contact. Call Marge at the office 631-273-8113 leave your name and number and we will ad you to

Oh by the grace of God we have been given much needed food from so many wonderful
caring people like yourselves. Groups like the Southshore Garden Club, parishioners from St. Mary’s East Islip, the food pantry from Our Lady of Victory Parish, Floral Park, Suffolk County Bar
Association, Stony Brook University Professor Erica Diminich, Stony Brook University
Physicians Assistant Program and so many other just to name a few. Our Priest continue to be
strong and healthy and able to assist with giving out the food and our strong dependable
volunteers like Wayne Goldman and Kathy Fella keep it all afloat. But we can never get enough.
It comes in one door and out the other. We service in one day from 90 to 100 cars, in people
numbers over 400-500 individuals. Multiple families, seniors, single mothers, we do not ask
we just do the work of the Lord. Our Pastor, Fr. Stan has worked morning noon and night to feed as many of those in need. But we still need your help, can goods, pasta, rice,
vegetables, beans etc. Please drop your items at the Pastoral Center front door Monday through Friday, ring the bell and someone will come out and bring it in, no contact. Thank you all again

TIEMPO DE PASCUA
En la antigua tradición cristiana, los cincuenta días de Pascua eran vistos como un solo día, un único día de fiesta en el que se decía que no estaba bien arrodillarse ni ayunar: nada que pudiera sonar a penitencia tenía sentido en esta larga fiesta. Nosotros no vivimos esta cincuentena tan intensamente: la Cuaresma, por ejemplo, consigue siempre mucha mas intensidad. Y si se piensa fríamente, no es demasiado razonable que la preparación (la Cuaresma) tenga más éxito que la celebración en si (la Pascua). Una causa debe ser nuestra tradición cristiana, a lo largo de los siglos, se ha ido centrando en la preocupación por el pecado y la condenación mas que en la victoria de Jesús que ha destruido el poder del mal. Y ahora, que ya no hablamos tanto ni del pecado y la condenación, esta tradición se traduce, quizá, en un mayor interés en preguntarnos “que tenemos hacer” nosotros, mas que “qué hace Jesús por nosotros” en conocer la vida que nos da. Pero también existen otras causas. Una puede ser que, así como la Cuaresma tiene un objetivo final (la Semana Santa, el Triduo Pascual), la Pascua no tiene ningún objetivo hacia donde caminar, es un tiempo que parece plano, monótono, que se va acabando sin más, como deshilachándose: cuesta mantener la tensión en un tiempo largo sin objetivo final. Otra puede ser que la Pascua llega en el final del curso, con u r cierto cansancio y relajación, y con el inicio de la dispersión de los fines de semana que provoca la primavera. Y otra puede ser el desbarajuste que se produce en los lugares donde se celebran muchas primeras comuniones al ritmo normal de las celebraciones.
