Message from the desk of the Pastor

My dear people of God,

As the Father has sent me, so I send you.

We hear in the first reading that as the Holy Spirit comes, the fearful disciples are transformed. Their fear of those who would persecute them gives way to a new courage to proclaim Christ’s resurrection. In the Gospel, Jesus bestows the Spirit on the disciples, sends them to do his work, and gives them power to forgive sins. He prepares us for this period of time when the Hoy Spirit is the life giving principle of our spiritual life.

Recently we have given first holy communion to our parish children. And on Wednesday 22th of April we witnessed Cardinal DiNardo con-firm our young people with the seal of Baptism and Confirmation. All of us who live in the grace of Christ have the Holy Spirit. For nearly two thousand years we have witnessed the power of the Holy Spirit in the life of the Church. After the first Pentecost the early church spread throughout the world. It is through the power of the Holy Spirit that the sacraments are the living presence of Christ to each of us. Let us, as a parish family, enter into a deep spirit of prayer. Between the Ascension of Jesus and Pentecost, the disciples with Mary prayed for nine days for the Holy Spirit. Let us pray that the Holy Spirit will bless each of us as individuals and as a parish with life, love, courage and peace.

May God bless you.

Sincerely yours in Christ

Fr. Joseph

The Danbury American Legion Post 501 is having Memorial Weekend Service Sunday, May 24, 2015 at 2:30 pm at the Danbury Community Cemetery. We will be dedicating Memorial

markers in honor of two young men killed in World War II. James Honeycutt was killed in Italy and is buried Sicily—Rome Ameri-can Cemetery, Nettuno, Italy. John Cho-vanec died in the Pacific Ocean returning from a bombing run to Japan when the B-29 aircraft ran out of fuel. His name is on a wall in Hawaii. Both young men grew up in Dan-bury. After seventy years our Post namesake will have Memorial markers placed at their Mother’s graves. We welcome everyone to come out and Honor these two young men and all deceased Veterans.

Baby Bottle Boomerang Update

On Mother's day, May 10th, we began the Baby Bot-tle Boomerang 2015 fundraiser for the Pregnancy Help Center and Safe Haven Maternity Home. One of the services your donation will fund is a project

called H.O.P.E. (Help Offered in a Pregnancy Experience), a 12 week program. Classes are offered on Tuesday evenings from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. H.O.P.E. classes include finances, career skills, nutrition, childbirth, parenting, breast-feeding, finding a church, infant CPR, SIDS, newborn care, Bible study, shaken baby syndrome, postpartum depression, and job interviewing skills. The classes are free of charge, but certain requirements must be met, including registration, attendance, and completion. The Brazoria County Pregnancy Help Center's website is: www.pregnancyhelpcenter.org if you would like to know more about the project. Our own Angela Pieper returned two full baby bottles on May 17. Hers were

the first bottles returned for this year's fundraiser. Good work, Angela!

Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Immaculate Mary (St. Anthony and Most Holy Trinity), will meet in the St. Anthony Center on Monday, May 25, 2015. Social time begins at 6:30 p.m., with the meeting at 7:00 p.m. All women are invited to at-tend.

A buddy of mine is very demanding. Recently he had a consulting job in another city. When he walked into the hotel, he demanded that they give him their best accommodations. They put him in the Honeymoon Suite. He stayed with a nice couple from Nebraska.

SENIOR MASS for St. Anthony’s graduating seniors will be next Sunday, May 31st, at the 10:30 am mass. Please make an attempt to be there. Mass and a blessing are a way to start your road ahead of you.

Pro Life Corner: “Abraham Lin-coln recognized that we could not sur-vive as a free land when some men could decide that others were not fit to be free and should therefore be slaves. Likewise, we cannot survive as a free nation when some men decide that others are not fit to live and should be abandoned to abortion or infanti-cide.” Join the fight to end abortion

Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you and pray for them which despitefully use you and persecute you. 1 Mathew 5:44 Some people may talk bad about you and try to bring other people down. They may judge you but in the end only God can judge us. Almost every person has an enemy and the enemy tries to make you feel like you're not good enough and that you aren't worth it. The devil is trying to make us feel like that and our enemies symbolize the devil. I know that God will al-ways be by my side through everything and all we can do is pray for those people that they will eventually be on God's side instead of bringing people down. ~~Kylie

Kylie’s Corner

Fifty days after the Passover, the People of Israel celebrated “Pentecost,” observing the giving of the law on Mount Sinai, when God wrote the law with his own finger on the tablets of stone. The feast was originally rooted in the celebration of the harvest. It was on that Pentecost Day that the apostles reaped the harvest of the Lord’s Passover of suffering, crucifixion, and resurrection, and received the Holy Spirit, who writes the law on our hearts. This same Holy Spirit who came mightily on Pentecost comes to us. The same Spirit is in us, by our baptism and confirmation – the same Spirit who transformed the apostles, who raises the dead, and who changes bread and wine into Christ’s Body and Blood. That same Spirit is in us, and this should give us tremendous confidence in following Christ. The Holy Spirit, the “Lord and Giver of Life,” brings us back to our truest selves as he illumines us regarding the sanc-

tity of life. The Spirit brings many gifts, and one of them is to enable us to see creation in its proper relationship to God – including the crown-ing of his creation, the gift of human life. When we do not have this light of the Holy Spirit, the law we have to follow seems like an imposition from the outside that limits our freedom. That’s what people in the world sometimes feel about our attitude toward abortion and euthanasia. They think we are “restricting rights.” But when the Holy Spirit fills us, he gives us an inner attraction to all that is right and good, so that we do not feel pushed where we would rather not go, but rather pulled by the attractiveness of what is good and right.

Please Pray for Priests

Dear Lord, we pray that the Blessed Mother wrap her mantle around your priests and through her intercession strengthen them for their ministry. We pray that Mary will guide your priests to follow her own words, “Do whatever He tells you” (Jn 2:5) May your priest have the heart of St. Joseph, Mary’s most chaste spouse. May the Blessed Mother’s own pierced heart inspire them to embrace all who suffer at the foot of the cross. May your priest be holy, filled with the fire of your love seek-ing nothing but your greater glory and the salvation of souls. Amen.

St. John Vianney, pray for us.
