Parish Mission Statement We, the parish family of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church welcome all, young and old, active or inactive, committed
or alienated, to enrich their lives by joining and participating in our faith community. We seek to reflect the light of Jesus
Christ by reaching out to serve all, and by sharing our joy and hope, as we continue our faith journey. May our lives,
inspired by the Holy Spirit, and nourished by the Eucharist, bear witness to our love for neighbors near and far.

Dear Parishioners,
Cartoonists have always had fun depicting the passage of one
year to the next. Father Time, representing the year about to end,
is always pictured as an elderly man tired from his twelve months
experience but greeting the infant who represents the new year
about to begin. As we pause for a minute and contemplate the
year that has now ended, I thought it might be good to reprint the
Beatitudes or Friends of the Aged by Ester Mary Walker:
Blessed are they who understand
My faltering steps and palsied hand.
Blessed are they who know that my ears today
Must strain to catch the things they say.
Blessed are they who seem to know
That my eyes are dim and my wits are slow.
Blessed are they who looked away
When coffee spilled at the table today.
Blessed are they with a cheery smile
Who stop to chat for a little while.
Blessed are they who never say,
"You've told that story twice today."
Blessed are they who know the ways
To bring back memories of yesterdays.
Blessed are they who make it known
That I'm loved, respected and not alone.
Blessed are they who know I'm at a loss
To find the strength to carry the Cross.
Blessed are they who ease the days
On my journey home in loving ways.
---and may the grace of the New Year be with all our older
friends and may they know that they are still loved as much as
ever.
I want to thank everybody for their cards, prayers and best
wishes during the Christmas season. I thank all who enhanced the
Christmas liturgies. The week preceding Christmas was to be
expected, four funerals, two baptisms, confession, Masses and
large congregations. What was not expected was a fall on the
black ice on December 23 resulting in a compressed fracture of
the humus bone. The result has been a complete cast and sling to
immobilize the arm. I am very grateful to Deacon Paul for all his
efforts on my and the church’s behalf. Final thanks goes to Father
Liam and all the office staff.
Sincerely,
Fr John R. Mulvehill
They were overjoyed at seeing the star,
and on entering the house they saw the
child with Mary his mother. They
prostrated themselves and did him
homage. Then they opened their
treasures and offered him gifts of gold,
frankincense, and myrrh. - Mt 2:10-11
