RCIA: THE SCRUTINIES
During the last three Sundays of Lent, the elect participate in
the scrutinies, small rites that contribute to their preparation
for the sacraments. These rites take place at the 11 a.m. Mass
and will involve an invitation to silent prayer, intercessions
for the elect, a prayer of exorcism, and the laying on of hands.
Regardless of which Mass you attend, please keep these men
and women in your prayers:
Sherry C., Megan S., Bonnie M., Katy W., Brian W.,
Charlie W., and Brady W.
THANK YOU!
We would like to acknowledge some of the
many parishioners who make St. Augustine
a lively community. Be sure to look for more
of this column in upcoming bulletins and
thank these parishioners when you see them.
Mary Stucky has been doing a lot of behind-the-scenes
work getting the parish center organized. Our religious
education supply room is looking great thanks to her efforts!
Now she is working hard to make the Pearson Hall library
more functional. In the process, she is sorting through piles
of books and making them available to parishioners. If
you’re looking for a good Catholic read, check out the free
books cart in the hallway leading to the gym after Sunday
Mass. Then come grab a donut, look for Mary, and thank
her for the wonderful work she is doing!

Our students in fourth grade have been reading the novel On
My Honor. This book focuses on the stages of grief. During a
time of hardship, people experience grief differently.
Through this book, students are able to see different ways
people react to difficult situations. Students have learned
ways of coping with loss, the importance of telling the truth,
standing up to peer pressure and following rules. This has
helped students use different strategies of recognizing grief to
help others. During this time of Lenten season, we remember
to be prayerful, giving and to think of others first.
