OPERATION WARMUP

As in years past, we will be collecting sweaters, coats, hats, gloves and other warm, clean, and usable clothing for area shelters. We can also accept blankets and throws. Please leave your items in the church basement or in the garage. We will meet after Mass on Sunday, January 11 to sort and deliver to the shelters.

Birmingham – Statewide March For Life

You are invited to participate in the Annual Respect Life Mass and March led by Bishop Baker on Saturday, January 17. Pray and unite for Mass at the Cathedral of St. Paul, 9:00 am. The Birmingham March for Life will begin at 10:45 am at Brother Bryan Park, 22nd Street South at 10th Avenue. For more information see http://www.BirminghamMarchforLife.com and also the advertisement on the back of this bulletin. Both St. Barnabas and Holy Rosary will carry banners in the March. Please join us in support of life under our parish banners!

NEW! Altar Sodality

The Ladies Altar Sodality will have their monthly meeting on Wednesday, January 14 at the Olive Garden on Crestwood Boulevard. The meeting will begin at 11:30am.

NEW! Senior Citizens

The January Senior Citizens Mass and luncheon will take place on Thursday, January 15. Mass is at 12noon followed by lunch and bingo in the school cafeteria. Menu for the lunch: barbecue pork sliders, baked beans, mac & cheese, and dessert of brownies & ice cream.

NEW! Save the Date – Men’s Conference

The 12th annual “Strong Men, Strong Faith” conference will be held at St. Peter the Apostle Church in Hoover on Monday, February 16 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. This will be an excellent way to prepare for the season of Lent (which begins on Wednesday, February 18, just two days later). The speaker this year will be Deacon Harold Burke-Sivers, who recently spoke here at St. Barnabas. Ladies, please encourage your husbands, fathers, and sons to go! More information will be provided during the coming weeks.

NEW! Father Jerabek’s Vacation Time

Father Jerabek will be away to visit his family in New Hampshire from January 19 to 25. During that time Tuesday morning confessions will be cancelled, but the schedule will otherwise remain the same.
