HOLY TRINITY ~ Love is one of those words that you can define, but it doesn’t mean you fully understand it, or ever can. It is a mystery that you enter into; you know when it is there and when it isn’t. The more you experience it, the more you discover the depths of its meaning. But one thing you know for sure, you can never fully grasp its meaning or power because it is truly mystery. The Trinity is also mystery. We attempt to define it. We listen to God’s Word as Trinity is revealed throughout the gospels, most especially in John’s gospel. We are given rich and beautiful
descriptions of the love between Father, Son and Holy Spirit and experience this revelation of one God in three persons – this community of love in one God. There is rich significance in the ‘definition of God’ that is given to us in the 1st letter of John: “God is love.” Because it is this love between Father – Son – Spirit – that IS God, one can say it, describe it, attempt to define it, proclaim it, listen to the revelation of it, seek its meaning and in all of this we keep entering in more deeply to the mystery. But the truth is we will never fully grasp its meaning. It is like the proverbial ‘bottomless pit’. The more you grasp, the deeper the truth. There is always more. Once the mystery has been shared and begins to reveal its meaning and power, it becomes more and more a mystery to be experienced. To enter into the love that is Trinity, to open its power and be touched by it, to seek it and discover it, to open one’s mind to it IS the journey. As Catholics we do that simply as we begin and end every prayer by marking or crossing ourselves in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.” Every time we pray we mark ourselves with the cross and we mark ourselves with the name of God as Trinity. We are covered by the love of the cross and covered by the love that is God – the communion of three persons in one God. We will never fully understand it, and yet we touch the mystery countless times every day in prayer allowing this mystery to guide and to change and to love us! We are a people of faith and our lives are formed and transformed by the God we know and love as Father, Son and Holy Spirit – the Most Holy Trinity!

a Community Multi-cultural one day fiesta to
kick off the week-long celebration. We will have multi-cultural
food, games, and entertainment. During the week, there will
be a variety of liturgical celebrations which are to be
announced. The week – long celebration will culminate with
our annual St. Bernard’s Luau on Saturday, August 19. The
Luau will feature for your palate delicious Hawaiian food,
Hawaiian Dancers, prizes and an evening of Dancing under
the Hawaiian stars. Please plan to join us for these festivities.

TODAY all parishioners will be asked to support generously to the Retirement Fund for Archdiocesan Priests. A special collection will
be taken up at all Masses. This is your invitation to say “Thank
You” to our current and future retired priests who have served and
many who still serve all of us so faithfully through their priestly
ministry. When you give to the 2017 Priest Retirement Fund, you
help support our retired priests right here in the Archdiocese of

LA SANTÍSIMA TRINIDAD ~ El amor es una de esas palabras que se pueden definir, pero no significa que se entienda o se pueda entender del todo. Es un misterio en el que entras; Uno sabe cuando está allí y cuando no lo está. Cuanto más lo experimente uno, más se descubre la profundidad de su significado. Pero de una cosa puede uno estar seguro, nunca podremos entender completamente su significado o su poder porque es verdaderamente un misterio. La Trinidad es también un misterio. Intentamos definirlo. Escuchamos la Palabra de Dios cuando la Trinidad
se revela a través de los evangelios, especialmente en el evangelio de Juan. Se nos dan descripciones ricas y hermosas del amor entre Padre, Hijo y Espíritu Santo y experimentamos esta revelación de un Dios en tres personas: esta comunidad de amor en un solo Dios. Hay un rico significado en la ‘definición de Dios’ que se nos presenta en la primera carta de Juan: "Dios es amor". Porque es este amor entre el Padre-Hijo-Espíritu- que ES Dios, Podemos decirlo, describirlo, intentar definirlo, proclamarlo, escuchamos su revelación, buscamos su significado y en todo esto seguimos entrando más profundamente en el misterio. Pero la verdad es que nunca comprenderemos completamente su significado. Es como el proverbial "pozo sin fondo". Mientras más comprendes, más profunda es la verdad. Siempre hay algo más. Una vez que el misterio ha sido compartido y comienza a revelar su significado y su poder, se convierte más y más un en misterio para ser experimentado. Entrar en el amor que es la Trinidad, abrir su poder y ser tocado por ella, buscarla y descubrirla, abrir la mente a ella ES el camino. Como Católicos lo hacemos simplemente cuando comenzamos y terminamos cada oración marcándonos en el nombre del Padre, del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo. Cada vez que oramos, nos marcamos con la cruz y en el nombre de Dios como Trinidad. Estamos cubiertos por el amor de la cruz y cubiertos por el amor que es Dios — la comunión de tres personas en un solo Dios. Nunca lo entenderemos completamente, y sin embargo tocamos el misterio innumerables veces cada día en la oración permitiendo que este misterio nos guíe, nos cambie y nos ame! Somos un pueblo de fe y nuestras vidas son formadas y transformadas por el Dios que conocemos y amamos como Padre, Hijo y Espíritu Santo - la Santísima Trinidad!
