DARK CLOUDS OVER A CLOSED WORLD
9. Without claiming to carry out an exhaustive analysis or to study every aspect of our present-day experience, I
intend simply to consider certain trends in our world that hinder the development of universal fraternity.
SHATTERED DREAMS
10. For decades, it seemed that the world had learned a lesson from its many wars and disasters, and was slowly
moving towards various forms of integration. For example, there was the dream of a united Europe, capable of ac-
knowledging its shared roots and rejoicing in its rich diversity. We think of “the firm conviction of the founders of
the European Union, who envisioned a future based on the capacity to work together in bridging divisions and in
fostering peace and fellowship between all the peoples of this continent”.[7] There was also a growing desire for
integration in Latin America, and several steps were taken in this direction. In some countries and regions, at-
tempts at reconciliation and rapprochement proved fruitful, while others showed great promise.

9. Sin pretender realizar un análisis exhaus vo ni poner en consideración todos los aspectos de la realidad que vivimos, propongo sólo estar atentos ante algunas tendencias del mundo actual que desfavorecen el desarrollo de la fraternidad universal.
Sueños que se rompen en pedazos 10. Durante décadas parecía que el mundo había aprendido de tantas guerras y fracasos y se dirigía lentamente hacia diversas formas de integración. Por ejemplo, avanzó el sueño de una Europa unida, capaz de reconocer raíces comunes y de alegrarse con la diversidad que la habita. Recordemos «la firme convicción de los Padres fundadores de la Unión Europea, los cuales deseaban un futuro basado en la capacidad de trabajar juntos para superar las divisiones, favoreciendo la paz y la comunión entre todos los pueblos del con nente»[7].También tomó fuerza el anhelo de una integración la noamericana y comenzaron a darse algunos pasos. En otros países y regiones hubo intentos de pacificación y acercamientos que lograron frutos y otros que parecían promisorios.
Adviento: Esperando con gozosa y esperanza En la Misa, después de rezar el Padrenuestro, escuchamos “. . . mientras esperamos la gloriosa venida de nuestro Salvador Jesucristo ". Esta oración nos recuerda que durante el Adviento, esperamos con alegría, esperanza y anticipación el evento maravilloso que estamos a punto de experimentar: La fiesta de Navidad, la venida de Cristo a nuestras vidas de nuevas ma-neras, el regreso de Cristo en gloria al final de los tiempos. Como Iglesia, esperamos durante el Adviento y esperamos cele-brar el hecho de que Dios nos ama tanto que envió a su Hijo al mundo para salvarnos. Esta espera está lejos de ser vacía; más bien, está llena de la esperanza que Dios nos promete mientras nos preparamos para Cristo en la fiesta de Navidad. La segunda venida Durante el Adviento, anticipamos ansiosamente la venida de Cristo. Sin embargo, no estamos esperando que nazca Jesús; Ese evento ocurrió hace más de dos mil años. Mientras nos preparamos para celebrar el nacimiento de Jesús que ha ocurri-do, también usamos la temporada de Adviento para anticipar la Segunda Venida. Cuando Jesús regrese, el Reino de Dios aparecerá en su plenitud. Los justos reinarán con Cristo para siempre, glorificados en cuerpo y alma, y el universo material será transformado. Es una ironia decir que 2020 ha sido un año desafiante! Estamos ansiosos por pasar la página y pasar a un nuevo año. Para los católicos, ese cambio de página ocurre un mes antes de la festividad secular del día de Año Nuevo el 1 de enero. Celebra-mos el comienzo de nuestro año litúrgico el primer domingo de Adviento, que está a solo unas pocas semanas, el 29 de no-viembre. El Adviento es siempre una temporada de esperanza, una temporada que nos recuerda que nunca debemos perder de vista la esperanza con la que los cristianos estamos llamados a vivir durante todo el año. Este año, más que nunca, ¡realmente necesitamos centrarnos en la esperanza! Hemos sido golpeados y golpeados por la pandemia de COVID-19. Una elección polarizante, luchas raciales y mucho más. Ante tales dificultades, fácilmente podemos caer en la desesperación. El mensaje de Adviento, sin embargo, es que la desesperación no prevalecerá debido a la esperanza que encontramos en Jesucristo, nuestro Salvador. A medida que se acerca el Adviento, ¡Se llene de abundante esperanza de poder compartir con aquellos a quienes queremos y ayudar a disipar la oscuridad de la desesperación! AMEN.
Necesitará una Biblia y cuatro velas para celebrar esta bendición.

Que esta corona nos recuerde la esperanza y el gozo que Jesús trae al mundo. Te lo pedimos por Cristo nuestro Señor. Todas: Amén. Líder: Adviento significa "llegada". En la temporada de Adviento, la iglesia se prepara para celebrar la venida de Jesús. Recordamos el pasado, celebramos el presente y miramos al futuro con esperanza. Nos preparamos para celebrar no solo el nacimiento de Jesús sino también su presencia en nuestra familia. Esperamos el regreso del Señor al final de los tiempos cuando todas las esperanzas se cumplan. Esperamos la llegada de la luz que brillará en la oscuridad, alumbrando nuestro camino hacia la paz.
