As we wind down our Advent preparation and light the fourth candle on the wreath, we reflect this Sunday on the gospel

story of the visitation of Mary to Elizabeth. This scene immediately follows the story of the Annunciation, where Mary

conceived Jesus upon the announcement of the angel Gabriel. Loving service is Mary’s awe striking response to having

been filled literally with the presence of God. The evangelist wrote that Mary traveled to the hill country “in haste.” She

did not waste time. There was a great sense of urgency – the urgency to serve. She did not feel entitled for special

treatment after having been asked to be the Mother of God. This tells us that if one is genuinely filled with the presence

of God, the person cannot just live for oneself or live selfishly. One is always moved to serve. To embrace the true spirit

of Advent then is to find ways for us to grow in loving service. In this way, others will feel the loving presence of God

through us, and like John the Baptist, they would “leap in joy.”

A medida que terminamos nuestra preparación de Adviento y encendemos la cuarta vela de la corona, reflexionamos

este domingo sobre la historia del evangelio de la visita de María a Isabel. Esta escena sigue inmediatamente la historia

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish will offer a bilingual Mass (English / Spanish) for all deceased

children, especially those who have died before birth or baptism and for victims of abortion.

A rosary will be prayed prior to Mass.

Participants will have the opportunity to inscribe in a special

book the names of the children and families they wish to

remember and to light a candle in their honor.

Come join us in praying for these innocent souls

and those who mourn their loss.

DIOS MÍO, VENGO PARA HACER TU VOLUNTAD

Estas palabras de la Sagrada Escritura las aplica

correctamente la Carta a los Hebreos, a Jesús mismo. El, más

que nadie, cumple el llamado a hacer la voluntad del Padre

total y absolutamente, en cada circunstancia de la vida.

Y comienza, como bien sabemos, ENCARNÁNDOSE,

haciéndose humano igual que nosotros, en el vientre de Su

madre, la Santísima Virgen María. Junto con ella, y con San

José, esperamos la hermosa venida de Cristo cuando nace en

el pesebre de Belén. Junto con los pastores, que se

encuentran con sus ovejas en los campos cercanos, trataremos

de escuchar los grandes himnos de alabanza que en aquel

tiempo entonaban dichosos los ángeles, y que, en nuestros

tiempos, resuenan en celebraciones de la Sagrada Eucaristía a

través del mundo entero.

Nos regocijamos de poder celebrar como familias y como

comunidad, esta preciosa fiesta de LA NAVIDAD. FELIZ

NAVIDAD.

Queremos agradecer enormemente a todos los servidores

de Santa Cecilia que con tanto amor y entrega han ofrecido

sus servicios y su tiempo para apoyar y promover las

diferentes actividades y experiencias que hemos tenido es

estas últimas semanas.

EL NOVENARIO de la Santísima Virgen de Guadalupe

tuvo más participación que nunca, y los comentarios que se

escuchan han sido todos muy positivos. Los niños

aprendieron mucho y se entretuvieron en sus actividades, y

los adultos pudieron disfrutar de diversas presentaciones

sobre la Virgen María antes de la oración nocturna del santo

Rosario. Una convivencia concluyó cada noche.

La fiesta misma del 12 DE DICIEMBRE estuvo

sumamente hermosa, pues se pudo honrar a Nuestra Madre

con Exposición del Santísimo y consagración de las familias;

muchas hermosas alabanzas (gracias a los miembros del

coro); una linda danza indígena (gracias a los danzantes por

sus largos ensayos y dedicación); la Obra de las Apariciones

a San Juan Diego; celebración de la Sagrada Eucaristía,

seguido inmediatamente por Mañanitas (con Mariachi) y

procesión de banderas; y finalmente, un convivio en el

Centro de Actividades con alimentos y acompañamiento

músico de los mismos Mariachis.

Después de pocos días de descanso, siguieron LAS

POSADAS, coordinadas por el grupo del

Neocatecumenado, en el cual uno o dos ministerios

estaban a cargo. Estos dirigían la posada de cada noche,

dirigida principalmente a los niños, y sirven algún

alimento sencillo para compartir al final.

MUCHÍSIMAS GRACIAS A TODOS LOS QUE HAN

AYUDADO, Y BENDICIONES.

APOYANDO A NUESTROS JÓVENES

Estamos juntando personas en la comunidad que

sientan EL DESEO Y EL LLAMADO DEL SEÑOR para

trabajar con los jóvenes de Santa Cecilia.

La siguiente reunión es HOY, DOMINGO, 23, oficina

parroquial 4:30 PM.

1. tomar un día para salir de paseo: quizás al Groto de

Portland (adornado muy hermoso, con música

navideña cada noche);

2. quizás otro día tomar una hora juntos en la capilla de

Santa Cecilia ante el Santísimo Sacramento dando

gracias a Dios por nuestras bendiciones;

3. quizás visitando una persona enferma, o alguien que

vive solo llevando un pequeño regalo;

4. quizás permaneciendo en casa jugando juntos como

familia unos juegos, y comiendo un postre especial.

MENSAJE MARIANO

“¡Queridos hijos! Hoy les traigo a mi Hijo Jesús, para

que les dé su paz y su bendición. Hijitos, los invito a

todos a que vivan y testimonien las gracias y los dones

que han recibido. ¡No teman! Oren para que el Espíritu

Santo les dé la fuerza de ser testigos alegres y personas de

paz y esperanza. ¡Gracias por haber respondido a mi

FIRST READING ~ MICAH 5:1-4A

Thus says the LORD: You, Bethlehem-Ephrathah, too small to be among the

clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel;

whose origin is from of old, from ancient times. Therefore the Lord will give

them up, until the time when she who is to give birth has borne, and the rest of his

kindred shall return to the children of Israel. He shall stand firm and shepherd his

flock by the strength of the LORD, in the majestic name of the LORD, his God;

and they shall remain, for now his greatness shall reach to the ends of the earth;

he shall be peace.

SECOND READING ~ HEBREWS 10:5-10

Brothers and sisters: When Christ came into the world, he said: "Sacrifice and

offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me; in holocausts and sin

offerings you took no delight. Then I said, 'As is written of me in the scroll,

behold, I come to do your will, O God.'"

First he says, "Sacrifices and offerings, holocausts and sin offerings, you neither

desired nor delighted in." These are offered according to the law. Then he says,

:Behold, I come to do your will." He takes away the first to establish the second.

By this "will," we have been consecrated through the offering of the body of Jesus

Christ once for all.

GOSPEL ~ LUKE 1:39-45

Mary set out and traveled to the hill country in haste to a town of Judah, where she

entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard

Mary's greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the Holy

Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said, "Blessed are you among women, and

blessed is the fruit of your womb. And how does this happen to me, that the

mother of my Lord should come to me? For at the moment the sound of your

greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed are you

Gloria a Dios en el cielo, y en la tierra paz a los hombres que ama el Señor. Por tu inmensa gloria te alabamos, te

bendecimos, te adoramos, te glorificamos, te damos gracias, Señor Dios, Rey celestial, Dios Padre todopoderoso Señor,

Hijo único, Jesucristo.Señor Dios, Cordero de Dios, Hijo del Padre; tú que quitas el pecado del mundo, ten piedad de

nosotros; tú que quitas el pecado del mundo, atiende nuestra súplica; tú que estás sentado a la derecha del Padre, ten

piedad de nosotros; porque sólo tú eres Santo, sólo tú Señor, sólo tú Altísimo, Jesucristo, con el Espíritu Santo en la

gloria de Dios Padre. Amen.

PRIMERA LECTURA ~ MIQ 5, 1-4a

Esto dice el Señor: "De ti, Belén de Efrata, pequeña entre las aldeas de Judá, de ti saldrá el jefe de Israel, cuyos orígenes

se remontan a tiempos pasados, a los días más antiguos.

Por eso, el Señor abandonará a Israel, mientras no dé a luz la que ha de dar a luz. Entonces el resto de sus hermanos

se unirá a los hijos de Israel. Él se levantará para pastorear a su pueblo con la fuerza y la majestad del Señor, su Dios.

Ellos habitarán tranquilos, porque la grandeza del que ha de nacer llenará la tierra y él mismo será la paz''.

SEGUNDA LECTURA ~ HEB 10, 5-10

Hermanos: Al entrar al mundo, Cristo dijo, conforme al salmo: No quisiste víctimas ni ofrendas; en cambio, me has

dado un cuerpo. No te agradaron los holocaustos ni los sacrificios por el pecado; entonces dije –porque a mí se refiere

la Escritura–: "Aquí estoy, Dios mío; vengo para hacer tu voluntad".

Comienza por decir: "No quisiste víctimas ni ofrendas, no te agradaron los holocaustos ni los sacrificios por el pecado –

siendo así que eso es lo que pedía la ley–; y luego añade: "Aquí estoy, Dios mío; vengo para hacer tu voluntad".

Con esto, Cristo suprime los antiguos sacrificios, para establecer el nuevo. Y en virtud de esta voluntad, todos quedamos

santificados por la ofrenda del cuerpo de Jesucristo, hecha una vez por todas.

EVANGELIO ~ LUCAS 1, 39-45

En aquellos días, María se encaminó presurosa a un pueblo de las montañas de Judea y, entrando en la casa de Zacarías,

saludó a Isabel. En cuanto ésta oyó el saludo de María, la creatura saltó en su seno.

Entonces Isabel quedó llena del Espíritu Santo y, levantando la voz, exclamó: "¡Bendita tú entre las mujeres y bendito el

fruto de tu vientre! ¿Quién soy yo, para que la madre de mi Señor venga a verme? Apenas llegó tu saludo a mis oídos, el

niño saltó de gozo en mi seno. Dichosa tú, que has creído, porque se cumplirá cuanto te fue anunciado de parte del

Señor".

ORACIÓN A SAN MIGUEL ARCÁNGEL

San Miguel Arcángel, defiéndenos en la batalla. Sé nuestro amparo contra las perversidades y asechanzas del demonio.

Reprímale Dios, pedimos suplicantes, y tú, príncipe de la milicia celestial, arroja al infierno con el divino poder a

Satanás y a los otros espíritus malignos que andan dispersos por el mundo para la perdición de las almas. AMEN.
