Dear Parents/Guardians School Board and P&F I would like to thank the School Board and the P&F for their continual efforts and support for the St Cecilia’s community. We are privileged to have such caring dedicated members in our community in service to our school.

In the short time I have been here, I have been struck by the skill set of both our School Board and P&F groups; a significant asset to our school and one that I know Mr Palladino will appreciate the support of in 2019.

Last week, the P&F held their AGM. My sincere thanks to those voted into positions on the P&F for 2019 and to the general members. If any other parents would like to be involved with the P&F please contact newly elected Chair – Chantel Foster (0429 983 511) or Depu-ty Chair – Sally Casson (0423 118 267).

They are a wonderful group of people keen to connect and make a difference. Thanksgiving and Graduation Mass On Friday 07 December, there is an End of Year Thanksgiving whole school Mass at 8.45 am. All parents and family members are invited to attend.

Farewells End of year in Port Hedland often means change, and so we farewell some staff, students and families from the St Cecilia’s community. May your journey beyond the walls of our school bring you continued blessings, peace and happiness into the future. While the loss of these friends may bring some sadness, we also eagerly await the ex-citement of new friends and families who will join our community. It is with great sadness that we farewell the fol-lowing staff members:

Peter Allen – Peter took on the challenge of principalship in January 2013. Making significant personal sacrifices to take on the role. Peter is a kind and committed man who has given six years of service to St Cecilia ’s school. His relationship and pastoral care of is exceptional. Respecting the dignity of all he always manages to see the good in each person he meets. Thank you Peter for your deep commitment to both school and the St Cecilia’s Par-ish.

Gemma Rozario – Gemma joined the St Cecilia’s teaching team in 2017. A previous pre-service teacher and TA at the school she was quick to find her feet. Gemma is an exceptional teacher, dedicated and passionate. Many parents, staff and students have commented in the short time I have been here, how much they value her contribu-tion to the school. She will be missed.

Fiona Clarke – Fiona joined our team in 2016, and has served both as a TA and a parent in our community. Fiona’s calm and gentle approach to students has enabled her to touch the lives of many in her time here. We wish Fiona and her family many blessings in the journey ahead Their presence and contribution to both St Cecilia’s and the wider community will be greatly missed.

Sarah Amiradaki – Sarah Joined the St Cecilia’s community as a Health & PE support teacher in July this year. A passionate teacher, she made her mark quickly and has become highly involved in the extra-curricular life of the school. We wish Sarah and her family God’s blessings as she begins a new position at Port Hedland Primary.

Elyse Phillips – Elyse came to us earlier this year on a TA Traineeship. Elyse’s happy disposition and gentle manner has been a wonderful addition to our team. She is positive and persistent with students and nothing is too much of an ask. We wish Elyse much happiness in the next part of her journey.

Anita Chapman – Anita joined the staff as a casual relief teacher in July 2017, and has since taken on role of the Pre-Primary Health and PE teacher on Wednesdays. She is always willing to lend a hand whenever a need pre-sents, has a wonderful relationship with students, she often volunteers her time at morning tea and lunch to con-nect with them. Many blessings for 2019 and beyond.

To all who have supported St Cecilia’s school community this year, I wish you all a happy and holy Christmas with many blessings in the year ahead. I look forward to remaining connected to this special school in my role as Re-gional Officer for the Geraldton Diocese in the years ahead.

News from Mr Peter Allen Hi everyone, I hope our Christmas Carols night went well. I am sorry I couldn't make it as I believe this is an important time of the year for the school community. A lot of hard work goes into the Carols night and I would like to thank all the staff and students for the effort they put in to ensuring it was a success.

I would like to thank everyone for the support and friendship you have given me during my six years in the Hed-land area. St Cecilia's is a great school and this is reflected by the people in the school community. I have been honoured to work with a terrific staff and will always cherish my time here. The students are wonderful and are a mirror of their parents. I will miss the conversations and laughs we have shared together.

I would like to thank Leanne Hodge for working with St Cecilia's staff given the sudden time frame of my illness. Leanne has stepped into the role and put in an enormous amount of work to ensure the new Principal has a smooth start to 2019. My doctor is pleased with my current progress and as such I will be returning to Port Hed-land on Monday 10 December.

Have a holy, happy and safe Christmas. To all the families leaving Hedland, I wish you safe travels and wish you good luck for the future.
