ST. CHRISTOPHER’S CHURCH CHESTER, MARYLAND JUNE 21, 2020 Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, We celebrate the wonder of our creation; male and female he created us. Some have been given the gift of the voca- tion of married life, the purpose of which is the creation of a family. Husband and wife are the visual symbol of Jesus and his Church. Jesus creates within the family of follow- ers those who believe in Him and know their humanity is dependent upon how God created – nothing more and nothing less. Jesus is the Incarnation of the Word of God the Father. Jesus shows us our human possibilities – the possibilities that originate from God and are the source of grace and life. We were not created to live in sin. We were created to live in the life of God. Today our Scripture passages speak to us in a profound manner. They express that we ought not fear what can kill the body, because the body is transitory; it returns to dirt. What we must fear is that which can kill the soul, for the souls purpose is for you to live eternally, to live with God. Jesus expresses quite reasonably that He will deny anyone who denies Him before the Father in heaven. Je- sus is our judge, but He is also the Bridegroom and we are His Bride, the Church. He desires that where He is that we will be, he desires that what He does for humanity would be done by His life partner – the Mystical Body of Christ, the Church. Each one of us has a moral responsibility to live in the light and to counter what is unfortunately destroying the cultures on this planet. Each person is a participant within a culture, a citizen of a government. Each Christian, how- ever, has a higher authority to abide by and ought not compromise themselves to live in a lesser existence. We are to live in the culture of Heaven, the culture that exists within heaven that we are asked to imitate here on earth – you remember… “thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven...We are called to honor the Father by practicing the humanity of Jesus that we have been given, and to do this with conviction and certainly without fear. Let us speak the truth of Christ rather than entertaining unfortunate political rhetoric that will never embrace life for your soul. Embrace your spouse who is Jesus Christ all you who call yourself church. Do not be deceived by the world but live by the Word of God who is Jesus Christ. Let us celebrate our earthly fathers as we celebrate the model of true Fatherhood, God Himself. Pax Christi, Vy. Rev. John B. Gabage, V.F. Outreach The OUTREACH Food Bank is open and needs your help. As this virus and “no work” con-tinues, those out of work will be asking for more food. Our plan is to provide one bag of food to each person asking for it. Our

volunteers will be taking the food bags out to the cars of people who request food. Your Food Bank is in great need of large boxes of cereal, oatmeal, jelly (plastic jars/bottles) and canned fruit. Thank you for your most generous support. In addition, Our Backpack Program is providing 40 bags of weekend food for backpack kids each week…so their need is also great. Please consider placing your donation in the bin OUTSIDE of the Church Hall…or you can drop it off at the OUTREACH Door during the time it is open…MON/WED/FRI 0930-1200.

If you are concerned about coming to the Church Parking lot, then please contact OUTREACH (leave a message with address and your phone number ) and we will arrange a time to pick up your food do-nation from your door-step. Phone 410-643-3366 .

Our Backpack program will continue through the summer months with some changes in distribution places. The need has diminished slightly as more people

return to work. We’ll be providing 40 backpacks per week and will adjust to the need throughout the summer. Our parish kept the donations flowing through the toughest part of the virus lockdown and we were able to provide food for any family in need. God Bless St. Christopher’s!! We are stocked well with fruit and applesauce. We can use chocolate milk, individual oatmeal and juice boxes. Thanks again!!
