WE LONG TO SEE GOD’S FACE “Lord, this is the people that longs to see your face.” This antiphon for today’s responsorial psalm offers the focus for today’s readings. As we on earth celebrate the triumph of all the saints—the ones officially canonized by the Church, and the countless others who have also reached heaven—we add nothing to their glory. But we give ourselves reason to hope. We too long to see the face of God and believe that we can one day be counted among those whose robes, as John tells us in the book of Revelation, are washed “white in the blood of the Lamb.” The passage from John’s First Letter offers further assurance: we are God’s children who will one day see God. But today’s Gospel pulls us past longing and reassurance into action. Jesus clearly tells us what we must do to be counted among the saints. We must be poor in spirit, hungry for holiness, merciful, single-hearted, and peacemakers! Then we too will see the face of God. Copyright © J. S. Welcome to St. Clare Catholic Community Our warmest welcome to all who celebrate with us. How may we serve you? If you would like to have your child baptized, have your marriage blessed in the church, have a Eucharistic minister visit someone who is ill, or have general questions, please call the Parish Office at: (661)252-3353. We are open Monday from 1:30 to 5pm and

Tuesday through Friday from 9am to 12:30pm and 1:30pm to 5pm. We look forward to serving you!

P ARISH REGISTRATION forms are available in the front vestibule, side entrances of the church, and at

the parish office during regular office hours. In order for our priests to better serve you, especially at the time of baptism, marriage, or a funeral, it is most helpful if you are registered and participating in our parish community.

M ARRIAGE: The bride and/or groom must be registered and actively participating in the parish

for at least three months. Then, a six-month preparation program is required. Please call the office for further information.

H OSPITAL/HOME, HOLY COMMUNION, AND SICK VISITS: For Holy Communion, please contact the

parish office during office hours. A Priest or Eucharistic Minister will visit you and attend to your needs. In case of hospitalization, please inform the admissions office that you are Catholic, so that they will be able to notify us. In case of an emergency or death in the family, a priest can be reached 24 hours a day. Call the parish office number anytime for an emergency pager number.

Christmas Basket Wish List

Each year we distribute Christmas baskets to families in need. Once again we need your help in gathering food for Christmas dinners. With Thanksgiving just around the corner, there are often sale prices on turkeys and canned hams. If you are able to pick up an extra turkey or a canned ham, we would greatly appreciate it. There will be a portable freezer out along the main entrance driveway just outside the kitchen in the Parish Hall begin-ning November 9th. Turkeys or hams can be dropped off in the portable cooler Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and after Masses on the weekend.”

Also, we are collecting other food items. There will be one food drive tak-ing place on Thanksgiving Day and the other on the 5th and 6th of Decem-ber. The idea is to provide food for a Christmas meal. Think colorful when choosing canned fruits and vegetables (corn, peas, green beans, yams, etc.) Any and all extra food will be donated to the SCV Food Pantry.” Get your kids involved!

If you are new to St. Clare - you may not know this…… Every year St. Clare’s collects for and distributes Christmas baskets for families who are in need. We provide

them with food for their Christmas dinner and, when families have a need for gifts for their children under 15 years of age, we help with that as well. We need your help to make this happen. There will be names passed out next weekend—November 14/15 after all Masses (and the following weekend if there are names left). There will be a table in the plaza where you can collect the name, age and size of a child for whom a gift will need to be purchased. You will be given a date by which your wrapped and tagged gift will need to be returned. If you are able, consider having your family help a family.

FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT

Religious Education News____________________________ Gospel Reading for the Thirty-Second Sunday of Ordinary Time: Mark 12: 38-44

In the Spotlight…Religious Education Classes Support the Dignity of

Life of Refugees Coming To America! The Refugee Collection began this past week in all R.E. classes for grades 1st-8th. Parishioners are welcome to join our effort and leave items for the collection in the R.E. office. Items need to be dropped off by Monday, November 23rd. Bathroom, bedroom, kitchen and cleaning supplies are appreciated. Questions about items –email R.E. office at [email protected] or call us at 661.252.6950

R.E. OFFICE WILL BE CLOSED WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 11TH IN OBSERVANCE OF VETERANS DAY. WE WILL NOT HAVE OUR REGULAR WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON CLASSES.

Thank you to all our Veterans! We are appreciative of your service to our country.

During this month of November, attention is given to the needy families in our community through food, clothing and collection drives. How do we respond to these pleas for help? Do we take our children out to pick up a few items to donate and teach them the importance of giving? Or do we open up our pantry/closet and see what items we have not used and plan to “throw away”? Are we giving from what is left over? Ask your children to select items for the collection drives that they would want to receive if they were in the shoes of the needy. The lesson is to give with a full heart not because of obligation and from what we don’t already want.

—Fray Gilberto Cavazos-Glz, OFM, Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
