Swinging at the Cotton Clubfeaturing: The Jiving Lindy Hoppers & the Harry Strutters Hot Rhythm Orchestra

‘Swinging at The Cotton Club’ is the action-packed show celebrating the music, dance, and songs of the Cotton Club – New York City’s famous nightclub of the 1920s and ‘30s. Performances by Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Cab Calloway, Lena Horne and Fats Waller would have had the club swinging, whilst dancers such as Bojangles Robinson and the Nicholas Brothers lit-up the stage with their breathtaking routines.

In this show, the exciting dance and music of the Cotton Club is recreated by the fabulous Jiving Lindy Hoppers, the world’s premier jazz dance company and Harry Strutters Hot rhythm Orchestra featuring vocalist Marlene Hill and compere/vocalist Megs Etherington.

Barb Jungr -“Stockport to Memphis”“a fantastic English singer … I was just amazed by her voice….” (Jeremy Irons – Desert Island Discs)

Stockport To Memphis (Naim Jazz) is the superb new album from the magnificent, mesmerising and magical Barb Jungr, one of the world’s foremost interpreters of song. The latest in a succession of critically-acclaimed albums, Stockport to Memphis, charts a metaphorical journey, not just Barb’s own route through life and self-discovery but that of others, including her own parents’ escape to the UK from war-torn Europe and her father-in-law, the painter Frank Bowling, who came to the UK from Guyana as a young man. In a significant new direction for Barb, she has included five of her own songs in the collection. To witness Barb Jungr perform live is to enjoy a revelatory and uplifting experience”.
