For Students Two Years Old Through Eighth Grade ST. FRANCIS AFTER-SCHOOL CARE While the Encore program is not a tutorial service, time is provided for children to independently pursue homework. Encore After-School Care begins at dismissal and runs until 6:00 p.m., providing students with structured daily activities and a healthy snack. ST. FRANCIS AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM Billing Information Monthly Billing Fee: $280: Billed monthly in advance Three-Day Toddler/Primary I Monthly Fee: $175: Billed monthly in advance Hourly Rates: $11: Billed monthly (no partial hours) Parents selecting the monthly billing option between the 1st and 15th of the month will be charged for the full month. Parents selecting the monthly billing option after the 15th of the month will be charged half the monthly rate. Families may choose to be billed hourly until the following month. Short months (November, December, March) are not discounted. Requests to change billing options must be submitted in writing to the Encore office before the beginning of the month. Drop-Ins While we prefer advance notice, we understand that unexpected circumstances arise from time to time. After-school care is available in these instances and is billed at the hourly rate. Lower School students who have not been picked up by 3:35 p.m. and Middle School students who have not been picked up by 4:00 p.m. will be considered drop-ins. Late Pickup Late-pickup fees will be assessed starting at 6:01 p.m. Late-pickup fees are $5 for the first 10 minutes and $2 per minute thereafter. Encore Short Stay Lower School students with siblings in fifth grade or Middle School siblings participating in PE may choose to enroll in an Encore Short Stay program from 3:10–3:45 p.m. each day. Primary School stu- dents with siblings in Lower School may choose to enroll in an Encore Short Stay program from 2:30–3:15 p.m. each day. Short Stay programs are staffed by full-time fac- ulty and Encore After-School instructors. Lower School students use this time to do homework, play board games, create crafts, and have a snack. Primary School students enjoy outdoor play time, centers time, craft projects, large motor play, and story time. Cost for Encore Short Stay is $270/year. For Lower School students choosing to enroll for only one sports season, the cost is $100/athletics season. Fees and registration

Fees vary by class and are listed with descriptions. All fees are based on the number of classes in the semester. The registration fee and course fees must be turned in with registration or the “bill me” option must be selected in order for registration to be considered complete. Space is first-come, first-served in all classes, and space is not reserved until payment is received. St. Francis reserves the right to change class locations, sizes, and instructors when necessary; to close registration for programs that are full; and to cancel programs that are under-enrolled. Money for cancelled classes will be refunded.

Before and after enrichment class care

Children whose enrichment classes begin after 3:45 p.m. may incur additional charges for the time they are in Encore After-School Care. This may be paid on a day-by-day basis at the regular hourly rate, or at a flat rate for the semester. For further details, please contact our office.

In the return of this popular class, students explore the basics of the jazz and hip-hop dance styles. Classes will expose students to different methods of jazz dance; introduce jazz technique, choreography, and skills; and explore the history of jazz. Emphasis will be placed on developing rhythmic awareness, choreography, and individual expression. Additionally, students will explore hip-hop dance, a looser form of movement that emulates the dance styles seen in current media. These are active forms of dance that are great for building coordination, strength, and musicality for boys and girls alike. All music, dances, and themes are carefully selected to ensure they are age-appropriate for young children.

This course provides opportunities for the exploration of dance and development of pre-ballet techniques in a progressive class setting. Classic ballet terms and movements are blended with imaginative creative movement, rhythmic development, and exposure to a variety of styles of dance and music. Students will explore basic movement concepts such as pathways, directionality, rhythm, size, shape, speed, and levels. As children grow aware of their own movement in space, their coordination and spatial awareness also increase.

This class provides beginner-level instruction in classical ballet technique, while still providing time for students to improvise and express themselves creatively in an intimate setting. Work will include center floor exercises, beginning barre work, and fun games to challenge students physically and creatively. Dancers will continue to learn ballet basics and expand their knowledge of dance concepts. Healthy alignment, improvisation, and choreography are also incorporated as part of this developmentally appropriate dance class.

Tae Kwon Do with Master Bruce Alamdari remains one of the most popular courses offered at St. Francis! This class helps children develop physically and mentally in ways that both parents and students appreciate. Benefits include an increased attention span, enhanced respect for self and others, greater self-defense skills, and improved coordination.

refund Policy

All refund requests must be made in writing and submitted to the director of summer and after-school programs by January 30, 2015. Refunds will be made on a prorated basis, based on the number of classes attended at the time of withdrawal, plus a 10 percent withdrawal fee.

After January 30, 2015, no refunds of fees will be made to any student who withdraws from a class or is dismissed from a class. St. Francis reserves the right to dismiss any student who does not comply with the expectations of the program. Fees will be refunded if St. Francis cancels a class offering.

This fantastic science enrichment class explores the art of science—or is it the science of art? We will apply the inquiry-based method to explore a rainbow of colors. This spring, The Art House founder Viruchy Delgado-Giambi will introduce students to the finer painting techniques of Impressionist masters such as Monet and Renoir. Essential fundamentals like color recognition, paint application, and brushstroke technique will also be addressed. The week’s schedule will focus on each student successfully completing his or her project, from preparing the canvas to sketching to eventually putting the final touches on the painting.

USA Chess is the premier educational chess organization in the Southwest. Total Golf Adventures returns to St. Francis for another fun session. Through TGA, students are introduced to golf terminology, basic stance, swings, putting, game rules, and course etiquette. Students move through the TGA 5 Level Program, advancing at their own pace in classes that provide half indi-vidual instruction and half supervised skills practice. Students receive their own visors and clips indicating progress. All supplies are provided by TGA.

Classes will be taught in Spanish and English, emphasizing cooking fun as well as conversational Spanish. This course is taught in two levels, with cooking skills appropriate to each age group.
